Quilt Market Crazy
Edit: #18 Lynne McFern you are the winner of the fat quarter bundle! Please contact me by 8:48 pm Sunday the 26th to claim your prize!
It is Monday and I am home from a whirlwind trip to Spring Quilt Market in Portland OR. I left out on Friday morning before dawn had even had time to show it’s crack and then cooled my heels in the airport for a delayed flight. This was ok since I used the time to chill and soon I was on my way.
I even had time for an amazing 4 hour nap on the plane!
Soon enough I was in Portland and I was even greeted by a bit of blue sky! I think it was the only blue sky the whole weekend but I took it as a good sign!
Next was a quick hop onto Portland’s amazing MAX light rail transit system. People this city knows how to do public transportation right! The rail took me from the airport right to the convention center easy as pie!
By about 1:30 on Friday I was walking in the doors of Quilt Market to the already steady humm of 1000’s of people ooohing and ahhing over some of the most stunning fabrics, booth displays and products there are available to today’s quilter.
My first stop Was Bari J. Ackerman’s booth to see the work I did for her.. what an adorable booth!
Her booth was the perfect balance that highlighted the fabric but gave you room to move and gave your eyes a visual place to rest. It was easy to know why you were there and easy to visit with this adorable lady that I am thrilled to call my friend. Alas in all the crazy we did not get a photo together! poo! Her collection is in stores now as well as online in places such as Hawthorne Threads You are going to love Bijoux .
I met so many wonderful people that I had only known online.. this was THE very best part of the show.
I made a quick dash to grab a hug from the ever so wonderful Ms. Ebony Love of Love Bug Studio fame. Then for good measure I gave her my pants! ( You know there is a story there!). People this girl is the best bundle of energy and sweetness I know.. you must go like her page and learn for yourself why she is a real LOVE!
And this one… NOTHING but trouble.. really.. Capital T which rhymes with B…. Flaun Cline of I Plead Quilty I would not think twice about giving this woman my kidney.. she is that cool!! She might look sweet… but don’t let that million dollar smile fool you- pure trouble this one!
Not much later I ran into Judy of Quiltopia Studio… in fact she spotted me before I even saw her! I swear that being in Quilt Market is rather a lot for a girl with ADD.. I did not know where to look first.. so i am glad Judy shouted out to me!
Next was a quick visit with Natalie Barnes of Beyond the Reef
The colors in Natalie’s booth were swoon worthy.. such a fresh updated take on the beach look.. I really like it!
Next was a chat with the people at Cloud Nine fabrics. Can I just say.. ADORABLE?.. and Organic. And really if you are sewing for a sweet newborn that is the time when you want fabric that has been created with care since it will be up next to baby’s sensitive skin! Melissa From Generation Q magazine and I had a wonderful visit with these folks and hint hint… you will be seeing more of this fabric very soon {que the suspenseful music!}
My landing pad for the weekend was the super comfy booth of the Generation Q Magazine people. Do you know the Gen Q people?.. if not I highly suggest checking them out. They are a wonderful quilting lifestyle magazine that brings the newest and best fabrics, products and designers to you in a way that feels as relaxed and easy as a summer picnic. By-passing the hype and getting down to why quilters do what they do and not to mention how they have fun! Make sure to check the Gen Q FB page for even more amazing Market pics!
Tomorrow I will put up part 2 where I find a huge swan, feel virtuous for eating a power bar and not an amazing Voodoo Dounut and see so much more eye candy that my head is still spinning!
Until then maybe you would like to take a chance at a delicious Fat quarter stack from the Fine folks at Generation Q magazine and Michael Miller?? This collection is called Sorbet and it is as fresh as Summer. If you would like to be part of the giveaway please leave a comment about what you plan to sew this summer and I will be drawing for a winner on Friday!
