COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL AS WE PICK THE WINNERS!
There are a lot of feathers ruffling about in the past few days with closings and changes in the quilt world, as well as challenges as to what it means to be a quilter. So much unnecessary need to align one’s self with just one certain style or dogma, real, imagined or put upon by anybody in the quilting world, and that includes me.
I truly believe that there is room out there for all of us to happily create. I live with the philosophy that the more you have the longer your table should be. We have a lot here at BAQS so our table is endless with room for every quilter who wants to be part.
Of course I have a total soft spot for those who are sassy and more than a little bad-assy but think that BadAssness comes in so many forms with it’s only membership obligation being to live your truth and let others live theirs to the fullest.
I believe in The Democratic Nation of Quilting™ <— pay attention there; it is going to be a thing!
We are the BadAss Quilters Society™ and we believe that quilting is a democratic pursuit and is open to anyone who wants to create. We are not bound by any style, stitchy dogma or rules that set unintentional or restrictive boundaries on creativity.
You are welcome here. One of more than 16 Thousand …. Let the giveaway begin!

Ready???? Let’s do this!

I wish I could go away for a few days and sew! A toddler and a preschooler make that difficult at best. So no fun sewing excursions for me. Just stitching after bedtime!
I will be going to Madison, WI for the quilt expo in September. I love quilting when I can. I need a craft/sewing room and hope to soon!
I will be attending PIQF in Santa Clara, CA this October. I wish I could go to a retreat this year, but can’t get away due to my foster kidlets.
I will be attending and taking classes at MQX in Springfield, IL in October.
I won’t be going to any retreats and in fact have never been to one, unfortunately. I try to get to at least 1 show a year with a quilty friend, usually our local small show in Pleasanton, CA. Pretty much self-taught, too!
I have a show coming up in October, and hopefully I can find a couple of more that I can attend. What a better place to get inspiration than a quilt show.
I will be going to a three day retreat in October. I have attended 10 or 11 AQS shows in Paducah but have not made it to the last two. Quilting keeps me sane so I am not giving up this obsession.
Too many other obligations this year, but hopefully next year!
I will be going to the AQS Quilt Show in Chattanooga in September!!! You have done an amazing job with the BAQS & Spool!!! The prizes you have are fantastic!!!
Yup, retreats in October and February. Like them so much I am chairing the February one!
Our guild holds a retreat every year near Cloudcroft NM. I can’t wait for the next one. A wonderful opportunity to sit and sew with good friends and a respite from the desert heat.
I’ll be going to MQX Midwest in October and cannot wait for the fun with friends I haven’t seen since last year at the show.
I travelled back to my hometown in Kansas for a mystery quilt retreat earlier this year where I got to sew all day with several friends and my mom. I hadn’t been able to attend for several years so it was a real treat.
I live just East of Houston currently so I plan on hitting up the Houston quilt market/show this fall.
Happy Sweet 16K!!! The spool was my local quilt store for two years. You ladies were always a fun bunch and joy to visit with!!
Yes…… Our local guild has 2 retreats a year and there are always waiting lists as they are very popular. Also attend as many quilt shows in the area as possible and of course Paducah!!!!
I wish I was going to a quilt show or retreat, but def will plan on one next year, hopefully in Chattanooga! Luvin Baqs!
The Quilt Show that I will be attending is in Jacksonville FL in September. QuiltFest, a very good show put on by the local quilt guilds with lots of hard work. The second quilt show is in October and is held in the Stephen Foster State a Park in White Springs, FL. I am proud to be part of the 16000 Badass Quilters Society.
I will be going to Mancuso’s Pennsylvania quilt show in September (my guild the Philly MQG will have quilts on display). And hopefully I will be going to my guild’s fall retreat in November. Awesome giveaway!!!
I am not planning on going on any retreats in the near future, but I would love to if I found one that was beginner friendly that worked with my work schedule. I love the craft camp ideas for adults I have seen lately as well.
I want to but I recently moved. I will definitely be going to QuiltCon next year.
Yes……I am attending my 2nd quilters retreat at Gravitt Camp in SC. I attended a 3 day retreat in May and enjoyed it so signed up for the 4 day retreat that starts tomorrow. It will be so relaxing!!!
I will be attending my Quilt Guild’s Fall 2016 retreat at Paul B Johnson State Park in Hattiesburg Mississippi! It is a 5 day retreat dormitory style! It will be a blast! I also hope to attend the Houston Quilt Show this year.
I won’t have an opportunity to this year. I’ll getting married in November so every spare minute and dollar is being consumed. I’m hoping early next year I’ll find one nearby. Congratulations on such a great accomplishment for BAQS.
I will be going to AQS in Des Moines in October and can’t wait to go to the Kansas City Regional Quilt show next summer. I hope to go to a retreat next year also. I went to one this spring ?. I love to be inspired at the shows and quilting with friends.
I try to go to several retreats every year. My quilty friends are the best in the world! I’ll be at Houston again…so many years I’ve lost track! I’m an original BAQS member and have spread the “gospel” of badass far and wide! Thanks Maddie for all you do to keep the faithful enthused!
I have never gone to a quilt retreat. I’ve been to some local quilt shows in the NY/NJ Tri-State area. However, my cousin has invited me to consider joining her next March for a retreat at a place called Sprague’s Kinderhook Lodge in Kinderhook IL It is SO tempting as we don’t live close and we have never quilted together.
We have a great group that meet in March. This year was fun and plans all ready for next year. We keep getting bigger and have new ideas each year.
No retreats, no quilt shows on my agenda. I sew alone, no one around me that I know quilts. All of my quilting friends are on line. Facebook, and a few other places. I sure would love to win one of these prizes. 16,000 + Badasses !! Freakin’ AWESOME !!
I would love to get to the quilt show on Chattanooga this fall!
I went to the empty spools seminar earlier this year and will go again next year. Great retreat!
No retreats, but I’m hoping to make it to the Houston festival this year! I’ve never been before, only to Market once in 2014 when I was a new shop owner. I’m closing my shop now, so I should be able to make a day trip to Houston.
I wish I could retreat – the idea of escaping from my busy life as a working mum and spending time just to sew and giggle and hang out seems like bliss. but not to be for a wee while yet.
I will be going to my local show at the end of next month. Every two years the Wellington Quilters Guild down here in New Zealand puts on their show and there is a good selection of younger quilters coming up through the ranks these days. I don’t stand out as much as I used to when I first joined!
Rock on my fellow BadAsses! 16K is amazing!!
Since I belong to two guilds, I will be there for their shows. I am hoping to make the Chattanooga show if work permits. *sigh* Work ruins all my quilting fun!!
No quilt shows or retreats for me this year, but I do love seeing all the quilts at the state fair!
Entered a quilt in the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravangza in September (hoping to be juried in ~ first time for everything!), and attending our LQS annual retreatat the end of September.
I just entered a quilt in the state fair here where I live. I’ve only been quilting for five years, so I’m not out to win anything, it’s just for fun!
Next year I hope to have improved enough I’ll have something I want to enter in the state fair again that will do even better.
I will be entering my Bad Ass Kansas quilt in a show this coming year. It was a block of the month that I added to. The center block is a Ksnsas tattoo that I saw on Facebook and my art teacher friend drew it and I made it. I love it
I have fun day retreats here at my home, but don’t have any plans to go anywhere to retreat this year. Since AQS is close by, I’ll try to go to it. And our guild has their quilt show this year, so I’ll plan to attend that. Congrats on passing the 16K mark! That’s exciting!
I’m going to Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza as a teacher next month, Quilt Festival in Houston in November as a contestant and shopper, and then to QuiltCon in February as a shopper and goofer arounder with my buddies from the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild, and then maybe the AQS show in Des Moines, because we can visit our new little grandson right after.
Oh, and I’m going to Quilt Expo in Madison, because it’s a nice drive and the town is beautiful.
The Chicago Modern Guild has a fabulous retreat, and I hope I get to go. But I never get much machine sewing done, so I think I’ll bring handwork. And my sewing machine.
So far this year, I’ve already been to QuiltCon, Quiltweek in Daytona Beach, and Quilt Festival in Chicago.
We aren’t taking regular vacations this year, so I can go to quilt shows guilt free.
What an awesome prize package!!! I am hoping to head to Houston and have been having some mini retreats with friends. Anything to renew the creative spark!
We wrapped our New Braunfels Area Quilt Guild QuiltFest on 7/24. It was a fabulous show with all styles and types of quilting. I won a blue ribbon for an original design- I call it SpinWheels. Hoping to get to the Austin Guild show in September- it’s always a good one, too. Missed retreat last Spring, but might go in ’17.
I’m going to an all night quilting lock-in at the end of September. Amazing how much you can get finished between 4pm and 7am!! It’s a great time to finish UFO’s, socialize and eat good potluck!!
Not this year ?
I plan on attending a quilt show in early October; as far as I know exact date not released yet.
I am a happy quilter, retreat ,classes at AQS, another retreat and then Quiltcon! What more could a girl ask for!
What an awesome prize basket! I don’t have plans to go to any shows this year. a retreat might be in the cards if I could find the right one! Maybe one in Chattanooga? 🙂
I’ll be going to the Chattanooga AQS show before the end of the year and a fall retreat.
I hope to attend Road2Ca in the coming year.
Nothing this year 🙁 — but hopefully NQA in Columbus,Ohio next year.
I would love to go to a quilting retreat! I tend to fly by the seat of my pants so the retreat is usually full before I can get it together
I will be going to a sewing event at the end of August and there are a couple of quilt shows planned this fall by somewhat local quilt guilds (within 2 hours travel time). Next year I will be celebrating my birthday at Quiltcon (perfect timing on their part!).
I went on an overnite trip with the quilting girls to MSQC in June. These girls are the closest thing to sisters. We plan on at least one more retreat/recharge this year. Thanks for the great giveaway! Love being a badass quilter!
