COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL AS WE PICK THE WINNERS!
There are a lot of feathers ruffling about in the past few days with closings and changes in the quilt world, as well as challenges as to what it means to be a quilter. So much unnecessary need to align one’s self with just one certain style or dogma, real, imagined or put upon by anybody in the quilting world, and that includes me.
I truly believe that there is room out there for all of us to happily create. I live with the philosophy that the more you have the longer your table should be. We have a lot here at BAQS so our table is endless with room for every quilter who wants to be part.
Of course I have a total soft spot for those who are sassy and more than a little bad-assy but think that BadAssness comes in so many forms with it’s only membership obligation being to live your truth and let others live theirs to the fullest.
I believe in The Democratic Nation of Quilting™ <— pay attention there; it is going to be a thing!
We are the BadAss Quilters Society™ and we believe that quilting is a democratic pursuit and is open to anyone who wants to create. We are not bound by any style, stitchy dogma or rules that set unintentional or restrictive boundaries on creativity.
You are welcome here. One of more than 16 Thousand …. Let the giveaway begin!
Today we begin our celebration of 16 Thousand members of BAQS. We thank our sponsors for their endless support and we encourage those who are leaving a comment to enter the giveaway to also click some of the sponsor links and take the time to say thank you to them!

Nooooo. A, my doctor has me on house arrest because my immune system is too “fragile” to be out in public except for going to the infusion center. And B, my treatments are every other day at the infusion center and I am there for around 4 start to finish getting my treatments. So my disease and chemo has limited my retreat and quilt show traveling ability. HOWEVER! IT HAS NOT taken my badassery away and i come hone and sit in my studio and quilt for hours, until its time for bed mostly, until i can not keep my eyes open or….i run out of peanut m&m’s in my snack jar. Whichever comes first. So, I am totally…still in it to win it. Sewing and quilting is my therapy and my joy.
I’m so luck to live where I do. I went to the Dallas Quilt Celebration this year and have plans to go to Houston again for classes and fun. I am headed to the Plano TX show in a few hours. Made it to Quiltweek Syracuse recently. What else? Oh yeah. There is a show in Fort Worth every year and a number of guild shows. Quilting is big in Texas!

There is a quilt show here in Alaska as part of the State Fair, which is coming up here pretty soon (End of August / Beginning of September). I might brave the traffic and make it there. :0) And in terms of retreats, I am not going to a retreat where I will stay overnight at a hotel or lodge, but one of our local quilt stores, Seams Like Home, just had the wonderful Angela Walters in house and I took two days of classes! What a treat.
I went to Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA last month. I’m also looking forward to Quilters Take Manhattan in September.

Sadly I have no shows or retreats on my schedule…yet….I hope to travel to warmer climates this winter with hopes of finding a show or two to visit. Since I want to escape what the Farmers Almanac has dubbed a brutal winter here at home, I will be missing my annual guild retreat.
My guild had the retreat in May at Shipshewana, IN. Next May will gather there again. Its like time stops n we are in another country! We sew, ate, had games, had giveaways, went shopping, and sew…Looking forward to next year.
