COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL AS WE PICK THE WINNERS!
There are a lot of feathers ruffling about in the past few days with closings and changes in the quilt world, as well as challenges as to what it means to be a quilter. So much unnecessary need to align one’s self with just one certain style or dogma, real, imagined or put upon by anybody in the quilting world, and that includes me.
I truly believe that there is room out there for all of us to happily create. I live with the philosophy that the more you have the longer your table should be. We have a lot here at BAQS so our table is endless with room for every quilter who wants to be part.
Of course I have a total soft spot for those who are sassy and more than a little bad-assy but think that BadAssness comes in so many forms with it’s only membership obligation being to live your truth and let others live theirs to the fullest.
I believe in The Democratic Nation of Quilting™ <— pay attention there; it is going to be a thing!
We are the BadAss Quilters Society™ and we believe that quilting is a democratic pursuit and is open to anyone who wants to create. We are not bound by any style, stitchy dogma or rules that set unintentional or restrictive boundaries on creativity.
You are welcome here. One of more than 16 Thousand …. Let the giveaway begin!
Today we begin our celebration of 16 Thousand members of BAQS. We thank our sponsors for their endless support and we encourage those who are leaving a comment to enter the giveaway to also click some of the sponsor links and take the time to say thank you to them!

Yes, I will be attending a sewing retreat in October at The Barn in Ohio with Nancy Crow. I am learning everything I can about improvisational piecing and quilting this year as a personal goal. I am looking forward to working with solids and completing exercises in color theory.
Oh yes, Sewing By the Sea in OC, MD, in 2016. More in 2017!!
I live in Alaska, so I’m far away from the big shows, etc. I would love to go to the Houston show, or maybe Sisters next summer.
Looking forward to Quiltfest Oasis Quilt Show in Palm Springs.
Yes, my 1st! I’m a quilt show virgin! LOL! I’m headed to AQS-Chattanooga in Sept! Can’t wait!
I travel a lot and have visited several shows, few retreats, and 100’s of quilt shops. I have taken a group of friends to The Paducah show for the entire week, had my sister to Houston, and am trying to get a group of friends to Road to California; a friend invited me to the Sisters outdoor quilt show two years ago. I learn all I can absorb and share it with many and I definately am willing to try new things and go off the beaten path with my quilting. I believe in supporting local quilt shops…from Chattanooga (a few weeks ago) to Alaska to Nevada. I have a degree of sass, but mostly just love fabric, quilting, and sharing with others. Awesome give aways!
I am going to NW Quilt Expo here in Portland, Oregon. A great show with a variety of styles to ogle and great vendors.
I just moved to Tampa FL, so I am not sure about the shows! I am sure I will partake and I LOVE a good retreat. I will find those too 🙂 Hell, I may make my own!!
I have been to one retreat this year at the Continental Inn in Lancaster PA with my friends in the OBAATS (One Block At A Time) group, and I hope to attend a second one in the fall. We usually have an instructor teach a quilt pattern, and I always learn so much!
Going to AQS in Chattanooga! And dropping in at Spool!
I went to the mid Atlantic show this year, will go to the VBMQG second annual retreat and am super excited to be registered for Quiltcon east!!! So much fun to be had. 😀
Yes…I take the opportunity whenever possible to attend retreats…great collaboration with great quilters.
Hi, live in the Rocky Mts. and rather isolated from shows. Thankful for the www. Thanks for sharing a grand giveaway!
I was fortunate to go to a guild retreat in the spring. I hope to go on a guild retreat in the fall too. I have not been able to go to any quilt shows.
Going to the AQS show in Grand Rapids MI on Sunday 8/14 and planning to attend Houston Show in late October 2016. Cannot wait for either!! So many new ideas to peruse, absorb and learn, new items to make quilting more fun, easy and fast (too many ideas to work slowly) and best of all, new faces to meet and call friends!! Love a good quilt show.
Yes, I plan to go to AQS in Chattanooga, the Asheville,NC quilt show and The quilt show in Franklin, NC. No retreats this year, not in my budget.
Unfortunately, I live in an area where there are very few opportunities to go to this type of thing. I would love to live in a larger area. I use the internet exclusively tomorder and learn.
I will be at Road to CA in Jan, it’s usually on my birthday week, so I purchase like pro ??
Loose Threads Quilt Guild Show in St. Charles, MO in November… I’ll have four quilts entered!
Hoping to visit the laconner quilt museum this year. Saving up for national show.
I just got back from Crafty Gemini’s retreat in Florida! I’ll also be going to the Quilters Bash in Redding California.
I have been to 1 quilt show this year, the Omaha Quilt Show but I don’t have any plans for a retreat because work keeps getting in the way.
I went to the Common Threads Regional Quilt Show in Wichita, Kansas in June. I have never been to a retreat, but would love to try one. I have wonderful local quilt shops nearby, and my sewing machine dealer offers excellent classes.
I am so excited to be attending a three-day class taught by Jacqueline de Jonge June 4-6, 2017 at Quilt Trends in Columbus, OH.
I will be going to the Hever Quilt show in Kent UK in Septembet. It has been going for twenty five years and has always been organised by a team of quilting volunteers
I have gone to the Shipshewana and Topeka Indiana quilt shows so far this year.
I always attend the NW Quilt Show in September and also support our local quilters.
Going to Madison, WI in the fall with two of my quilting peeps. Can’t wait! This group also attended a retreat at the Missouri Star Quilt company in Missouri and had the best time ever. Can’t wait to go back!
Retreats, yes! They are so inspiring and I always learn something new. I attended one this past winter and plan to go to another in October. Attended a quilt show in St Cloud MN in June, took several classes and added to my stash!
I’ve been quilting for 8 months and went to my first quilting convention, the AQS, in Syracuse 2 weeks ago. It was AWESOME!!!
Attended a local quilt show this summer and hope to get to another local show before year end.
I will be attending our local show Quilts on the Grand 2016 in October. I have two quilts entered but most importantly, my 9 year old granddaughter has entered a quilt for the first time. She even did some free motion quilting. She tried sewing her name free motion, but that didn’t work out so well. She went with loops and swirls. I can’t wait to see it hanging in the show!
Retreats are the greatest! Great friends and sewing! I just returned from a retreat day before yesterday. Four days and 8 quilters having a great time sewing and watching the Olympics with laughing and wine of course! We will all be on a chartered bus to the International Quilt Festival in November. We live north of Houston so it’s not a long trip, our quilt takes the trip each year!
I would love to go to a retreat, but not this year. Actually I am doing my own retreat, working on a king size quilt. Wish me luck, 39 more blocks to go.
I have tentative plans to go to the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza. I’ve never been to a quilting retreat but the idea is very appealing.
I’ll be going to Runaway Quilters retreat in September. I’ve been attending this wonderful retreat since ’03. Can’t wait! Lots of quilting friends there. The AQS Quilt Show in Paducah was a feast for the eyes. Fabulous works of art! The vendor mall was great too!
Unfortunately I will not be attending any fun events this year 🙁
Unfortunately I do not get 5o go to any shows this year but would like to next year
Going on quilt retreat with old friends. The best kind. We’ll just sew and laugh, laugh and sew some more.
I have already done 2 retreats so far this year. Really do enjoy them.
A retreat in another week and local quilt guild show in mid September. Hope to get to go to another guilds show in a couple of weeks.
I am planning to go to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival next February. I went for the first time earlier this year and it was so much fun! I reallllly want to go to QuiltCon East next February but I’m a teacher and won’t have enough time off to go. Someday!!
I have attended one show this year in St. Cloud , Mn. I look forward to our states quilt show every year. Always find something new and is is my first visit to your site. Would love to be a winner. On my bucket list is Paducha some day..
Plan to attend Quilt Festival in Houston and two local shows.
I’ve never been to a retreat. I would like to hit some local quilt shows this year.
I went to Paducha in the spring. Next year there will be one in spring and fall.
This year? I went to MidAtlantic Mod, and I’m going to QuiltCon 2017. And of course our local guild, CJMQG, has sewcial days.
I haven’t been able to attend any quilt events this year. I had plans but a back injury decided otherwise. My work schedule for the next 3 months allows no time for much else. However, I will be on the lookout for something close enough to take a couple of hours to enjoy. Until then, I’ll be visiting local quilt shops to appreciate their displays.
Just came back from AQS show in Syracuse and plan to go to the Philadelphia show inSept.
Houston baby! Looking forward to Oct/Nov. So many different styles and collections to see. I always check out the local shows, too.
