COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL AS WE PICK THE WINNERS!
There are a lot of feathers ruffling about in the past few days with closings and changes in the quilt world, as well as challenges as to what it means to be a quilter. So much unnecessary need to align one’s self with just one certain style or dogma, real, imagined or put upon by anybody in the quilting world, and that includes me.
I truly believe that there is room out there for all of us to happily create. I live with the philosophy that the more you have the longer your table should be. We have a lot here at BAQS so our table is endless with room for every quilter who wants to be part.
Of course I have a total soft spot for those who are sassy and more than a little bad-assy but think that BadAssness comes in so many forms with it’s only membership obligation being to live your truth and let others live theirs to the fullest.
I believe in The Democratic Nation of Quilting™ <— pay attention there; it is going to be a thing!
We are the BadAss Quilters Society™ and we believe that quilting is a democratic pursuit and is open to anyone who wants to create. We are not bound by any style, stitchy dogma or rules that set unintentional or restrictive boundaries on creativity.
You are welcome here. One of more than 16 Thousand …. Let the giveaway begin!

I’ve been to local quilt shows in my area but plan to look for a large quilt show next year.
I will be going to Sew Expo in Puyallup Washington next winter and hopefully will have quilts hanging at two shows in the fall, I won’t be able to attend bc my husband is deployed with the army and I have to stay home with my kiddo.
yes 🙂 a retreat in Las Vegas New Mexico with good friends…
I’ll be going to the Quilt Show in Oaks, PA. I usually go to the Hershey (pa) show, but missed it this year. As for retreats, I’m hoping to put together a retreat for my sister, my cousin and me!
Thanks for the opportunity to win some amazing prizes!
Don’t have any plans for the rest of this year. Just recovering from eye surgery and having new rescue pup in the house. He swallowed a needle in his first day with us, needed $1600 worth of emergency removal so that kind of bit into fun money! But he’s a sweetheart!
I think I will be attending a retreat in Virden MB in February.
No retreats, but will go to as many shows as my schedule allows. So much inspiration. I love to see the colors and designs to try to add to my quilts.
I wish I could participate in a retreat or quilt show this year! Just a little too busy making a huge quilt as our guest book for our wedding in two months. So for me it is just home sewing until after our honeymoon!
The only show near me is the local county show that takes place each Spring. I’m retired and enjoying traveling with my husband, and being with my five Grands when we are at home. I’ve currently got three quilts in various stages of construction, and patterns with fabrics for others. I love to quilt, sew, garden and bake. Hope to win one of your great prizes… especially the thread collection. Aurifil is the only thread I use for quilting!
Yes , I will be attending a Mancuso quilt show. What a splendid group of sponsors to be in this contest, bravo to them!
My bee’s annual retreat was in April, and I went to the NC Quilt Symposium in June. Can’t wait for both to repeat next year.
I will be participating in the Red River Quilters Quilt Show the end of September. Unfortunately, the quilt retreats I usually attend each year are no longer offered. The retreat center closed?. I will be watching for new locations but there aren’t many in North Louisiana.
On my bucket list is a quilting retreat some day. For now, I go to QuiltFest Jax FL every year. I go for 2 of the 3 days and have a blast. I sew pillowcases, I buy fabric and notions, and I love seeing all the quilts.
Went to Emma’s quilt shop. to a demo afternoon on Areofil. Threads. Amazing threads…
Very interesting afternoon.
Anne
Yup. Love the quilt show at DES Rosemont/Chicago.
I’m going to my guild’s annual fall retreat. We stay at a hotel and mess around/eat/sew all weekend. It’s glorious!
Am currently at the Canberra Quilters Members’ Show, part of the Craft and Quilt Fair in Canberra.
Already been to Australasian Quilt Convention in April (Melbourne) and the Sydney QuiltShow in June. Plans for 2017 include attending Fibrearts at Ballarat- a week with tutor Claire Wellesley Smith of ‘Slow Stitch’.
I don’t have current plans to attend a quilt show but if I hear of one in Honolulu, I will definitely try to make it.
I plan on going to the PA National Quilt Extravaganza on Sep. 16th. I’ve missed it the last couple of years so I NEED to go! Thank you for the opportunity to win great prizes!
I will be attending the Camp Wanna Sew in mid-September, joining my 3 sisters, 2 sisters in law for 5 days of sewing. The 6 of us meets up with 40 other quilting sisters to share and socializing our passion of quilting. We meet twice a year, and I can’t wait to disconnect from the busy day to day life to simply sew and quilt.
I just started trying to quilt recently and I’ve been trying to pay attention to things in my area but sadly I’ve not heard of anything in our city. I probably would have to travel to a bigger area. I did recently find out we have a quilting shop though so myself and my sewing group are planning a field trip there so perhaps I’ll be pleasantly surprised with some events! I’m really excited to be getting away from sewing just Halloween costumes and clothes.
I just attended a quilting retreat a few weeks ago and will be attending the International quilt show in Houston, Texas this year!!
I already attended the AQS quilt show in Lancaster, PA in March. It’s the one show that I go to every year.
I am actually attending a quilt show right now!! I flew from home on the island of Jersey to Birmingham, England to attend the Festival of Quilts which is the biggest in Europe. Having so much fun!
Also busy planning first retreat for my local modern quilt guild in March.
I will be attending as many quilt shows as pissible in Oct., Nov. & Dec. when I return to the Bradenton/ Sarasota area & my faborite show in Bartow, FL.
No retreats in the works for me this year. I did go to a quilt show in April but that is it for me, unless I find out one of the local quilt guilds is having a show.
Yes fortunately I always make it to PIQF in Santa Clara, as well as any local shows here in calaveras county.
Went to LMQG ( Lincoln Modern Quilt Guild) retreat in April, all booked for Quiltcon in Savannah, GA in February 2017. Did a private retreat with 3 friends in March locally and am hoping we do a second in Sept/Oct ( we generally do two a year)
Sort of quietly working on retreat idea–get away with some creative friends and fabric, threads and sewing machines. Not so organized but self directed with all contributing. Cross your fingers that I can pull this off!
I’m going to Old Man River Quilt Fest August 17. It runs August 16- 20, 2016. It’s going to be at the Vicksburg Convention Center, 1600 Mulberry St in Vicksburg, MS. Hours 9am to 6 pm Wednesday to Friday and Saturday 9 – 4. Hope to see you there.
I wish I was attending quilt shows this year, but being a high risk pregnancy I cannot travel far from home. At least I have lots of time to make things for the baby.
I never am able to coordinate with a retreat, so haven’t been to one yet. Not planning on going to any.
I will be attending the PA Quilt Fest in September with my sisters. One sister has a garment in the Sew Batik challenge, and a fall quilt retreat in Wyoming in October.
Houston International Quilt Festival
Yes, the quilt show in Oaks, PA (outside Philadelphia) plus my quilt guild’s show in October. Went to the AQS show in Lancaster earlier.
Yes, I went to our quilt guild’s quilt show and am hoping to go to Houston’s International Quilt Festival this fall!
I plan to attend the AQS show in Daytona in February, since I recently acquired a long arm I would like to sign up for long arm classes as well experience a national show and vendors which is something I have never done before. The Houston Quilt Festival is also another one I want to go to (on the bucket list).
Already did! January Road to California, and every year….already paid for 2017 classes and volunteered.
I”m headed to International Quilt Festival/Houston for just the second time. I’m meeting a co-participant from my annual Hollis Chatelain Master Art Series for lunch and dinner with a group of 12 from SAQA. Plus, I entered the show for the first time and was juried in. Serendipity. I can’t wait.
No, I’ve never been to a retreat or quilt show. I’m making my first quilt for my first great grandchild who is a month old today. A quilt show is on my bucket list.
I go on 2 retreats a year. One in June and one in September. They are the best long weekends of the year. I also go to one quilt show at The Greater Philadelphia Expo. In is in my town so I go all 4 days.
Our quilt guild has a weeken retreat annually, early in the year. So my retreat is over for this year. But what fun we have! A weekend in Amish country of Ohio, fantastic fabric shops, beautiful ballroom to quilt in, and more food than we will ever eat!
I would love to go a retreat, never been!
16K is SEW incredibly awesome~! I do 2-3 retreats with about 10 other badass ladies. People always ask what we do at retreats, I tell them they involve a lot of alcohol, food, sewing and good conversation! Some will often also meet up for a day of sewing a few times a year
I suspect I commented on the FB page, rather than here. Whoops. I am off to a retreat this morning, in theory. However, its raining…I have a migraine, and I have double booked myself. So, sitting here wondering what to do. Of course, quilting will win!
Yes Just returned from a 3 day retreat with a great bunch of quilters! Leaving next week for OK for another retreat with a wonderful group of quilters.
I will be joining seven friends and going to a retreat in Pinconning, MI in November. We are all looking forward to this new experience.
I’m going on retreat in October, yahoo!!!! I can’t wait to go. My guild does one in the spring and fall and I’ve gone to them for the past 5 yrs. Its my little getaway that I really look forward to. I giggle when non quilters have a screwed look on their face and they say you sew for 3 days? I just smile big and shake my head yep I sure do!
No concrete plans for a show or retreat this year, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Next year, QuiltCon in Savannah.
Yes, I’ll be attending several shows this year. A Mancuso Show in Palm Springs, Ca and some local So Cal Guild shows. Always fun to see what others do, and what they use for inspiration. You’ve got an awesome list of sponsors, love them all! Peace Out ✌️
I won’t be attending any due to finances, but I do plan to make it to QuiltCon one of these days!
