COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL AS WE PICK THE WINNERS!
There are a lot of feathers ruffling about in the past few days with closings and changes in the quilt world, as well as challenges as to what it means to be a quilter. So much unnecessary need to align one’s self with just one certain style or dogma, real, imagined or put upon by anybody in the quilting world, and that includes me.
I truly believe that there is room out there for all of us to happily create. I live with the philosophy that the more you have the longer your table should be. We have a lot here at BAQS so our table is endless with room for every quilter who wants to be part.
Of course I have a total soft spot for those who are sassy and more than a little bad-assy but think that BadAssness comes in so many forms with it’s only membership obligation being to live your truth and let others live theirs to the fullest.
I believe in The Democratic Nation of Quilting™ <— pay attention there; it is going to be a thing!
We are the BadAss Quilters Society™ and we believe that quilting is a democratic pursuit and is open to anyone who wants to create. We are not bound by any style, stitchy dogma or rules that set unintentional or restrictive boundaries on creativity.
You are welcome here. One of more than 16 Thousand …. Let the giveaway begin!

Hey lady YES I m going to AQS in September and would love to get in on a retreat in the fall…how about you? But I would also like to say ” thank you” for being your badass self and starting a movement which was definitely needed…u r appreciated!!!
Went to QuiltCon and had a blast! Hoping to get to Houston this year but work keeps getting in the way! Go Maddie! I wear my Badass Quilting Society button with pride!!
No retreats or quilt shows for me yet this year, although I have seen some amazing textiles and of course, I see much on the Internet. I live in a teeny town and will soon be moving to the Philippines with only one suitcase. I see complicated needlework in my future!
I wil be going to AQS in Chattanooga TN this year and it wil be loads of fun. I’d love to go to a retreat but am unable to attend one this year. Hopefully next year. I had so much fun at my last one. It was at Home Harvest Retreats run by Fran Randolf and the best time ever with awesome home cooked gormet meals.
Sadly, no retreats or conferences for me. I developed a chronic condition which means I can’t sit for long periods of time. No problem! I email, read books, watch dvds, and have my own mini retreats with friends. We have to keep creating regardless of what is thrown our way or wilt away into nothingness. 🙂 Thank you for always making me giggle, think, and for inspiring me to play. This giveaway is amazing!!!
I will not be able to do a retreat as much as I would love that time. I will be attending the Utah Quilt Guild Festival in a month. I missed it last year when my husband became sick and passed away. Quilting has been the only thing that has kept me going this past year. I’m so glad I started it just over 3 years ago. It’s been the difference between living this crazy new normal and not surviving at all.
Yes!
As many as I can get too!! Been to a bunch already and have at least 2 more planned! Plus what ever pops up! Always up for show! Or a retreat!
I don’t have any plans to attend a retreat, but am going to the Los Angeles Quilt and Fiber Arts Show tomorrow – so excited!
I’m excited to be going to my guilds upcoming retreat in September, as well as a five dat retreat with the fabulous Jie Cunningham!
Best way to spend my vacation and money is by travel to Houston International Quilt Festivale ❤️
Got all my classes I signed up for YEAY !! ??
Houston here I come !! ?☀️
I hope to attend the SAQA annual gathering in Lincoln, Nebraska next spring. It would be quite an adventure getting there from CT but it maybe my best chance to visit the International Quilt Museum.
One with nature in the beautiful Black Hills. No cooking, no cleaning just sewing and creating and socializing with great friends.
I’ve been to two big shows already- MQX in New Hampshire and AQS in Syracuse! Took longarm workshops at both. Planning to go to Quiltcon in Savannah in 2017 so saving up for that!
I will be going to one in the Black Hills of South Dakota. One with nature. No cooking, no cleaning, just sewing and creating
Heading on retreat Sept 24th. Super excited since I missed last year due to hubby’s schedule.
I hope to be going to chattanooga AQS this year. I’m excited!
I’ve already gone to two shows, and hope to go to more!
Hope to attend AQS in Des Moines 10/2016. Would love to attend IQS in Houston!
Oh yes…twice a year our group Traveling Threads meets for 4 days and our newest group will meet this fall for four days of stitching closer to home. I just attended a local show and next month I plan to attend the Wisconsin quilting expo. A trip to Minneapolis (5 hours away as I’m on Lake Superior) is planned at the end of August to take my son to college (Minneapolis College of Art & Design) for his freshman year! I love creativity and wholeheartedly agree with setting a bigger table for all! Love BAQS!
Awww, just home from a perfect retreat at Grand Oak with a world of talented and inspiring people. And now to anticipate winning the perfect gift from BAQS followed by a week with AQS.
To win those badass threads would be a dream come true!
I’m commenting not to win but to tell you how good being BadAss is! Way to go Maddie, grow! Grow! Grow!
Love shopping at Spool! Hoping to attend the AQS show in Chattanooga next month since it will be the last one and there is always lots of time to go shopping st Spool and visit with everyone. Will also do a “private retreat” with a group of friends.
No actual retreats, but I will take several classes at my local quilt shops and attend quilt shows in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which hosts some fabulous shows every year. It would be super awesome to win your contest! That’s a life changing amount of thread ?
Hope to, one is in the planning near me.
I recently learned about sewing retreats and would love to attend one very soon!!!
I visited the shop recently while on a retreat to Grand Oak retract center in Scottsboro. Great retreat nod great shop ???
If I won this thread, I would put in vacation days at work and sew all day long!!!! Seriously, I have 3 weeks vacation. Not only that, I think I would finally work on a quilt I could enter into the County Fair. I probably can go on forever. I have always wanted to try their hand quilting weight. I also heard that this thread makes your machine run like a charm! Okay, I’m obsessive….I can’t help it
No time to go to a retreat this year. I’d love to in the future.
I was lucky enough to attend the 2016 North Carolina Quilt Symposium in June, and will attend the 2017 event in May 2017. I’ve also taken in a couple of regional quilt shows and enjoyed a pair of retreats. Dedicated sewcial time is fabulous!
Oh yes how could l not, so in what is left to go to in Melbourne Australia,
For 2016 – Craft Alive and The Craft & Stitches Show. In April the Australasian Quilt Convention was brilliant.
I will be attending our modern quilt guild retreat at the end of September. I have several projects kitted up, ready to go! I live the friendship and inspiration that comes along with the hours of creating!
I have just gotten home from a quilting cruise ( with Bonnie Hunter! ) which was preceded and followed by a road trip to quilt stores along g our way! What fun!

Kind of a bucket list! Sisters Oregon outdoor quilt show, judi Madson long arm class/ retreat & Missouri Star Quilting
I go to two retreats a year at a fabulous YMCA camp. Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, IN. There’s a group of about 25 of us (we go when we can). It’s a wonderful 4 days of quilting, no cooking, no cleaning, no TV, good friends (old and new). I don’t always get a lot of quilting done, but it’s a wonderful mini-vacation!!
I am going with my local small quilting group 2x this year on a retreat.
I cant wait to visit Spool sgain in Sept while at the AQS show!
Next up, Quilt Market and Festival, Houston October 26-November 7–the best two weeks of every year!
Went to road to ca last January and went to a wonderful wholecloth quilting workshop with Cindy Needham

My bestie and I are going to the international quilt in Houston as a celebration of her 60th birthday…..YAY 60!!

Thank you for the awesomeness that is BAQ. I am attending the AQS Chattanooga show. I am going to miss having the show close to me next year bingo to this show to see what’s new in the quilt world.
Sewing retreats! Absolutely!!! Quilt Shows – just a couple that are within an hour or so drive. I ususally put in 4-8 quilts. A group of 4-6 of us get together and have our own retreats as we live in the middle of nothing 🙂
I hope so! Would love to visit the show in Houston in October. Hope I win!!!
