I am SO FREAKIN EXCITED ABOUT THIS!. Yes it is true, BAQS has teamed up with the amazing people from Swatch Buddies to bring you their product with a dash of BadAss appeal!
I have been a fan of Swatch Buddies since I met them last year and when the opportunity presented itself we decided to stir up some BadAss fun for Spring Quilt Market!
Do you know Swatch Buddies?… if not you should! Get rid of bulky binders, and index cards with glued on swatches and step up to a gorgeous way to play with your stash, save some cash and get a handle on your quilting and sewing projects. Not to mention declare your BadAss Allegiance! ( Can I get a ” hell yeah!”)
On my part I use Swatch buddies as a project keeper. When I am collecting for a project I dedicate a ring or a section of one ring to the project. Swatching the fabrics I have and leaving blank cards for those I need or want to fill in. I can even make a little note on the card with a removable sticker to remind me what I am looking for or possibly even need to avoid ( Dear Maddie you DON”T need more dotted fabric..)
Others are dedicated, organized and my heros. They swatch their entire stash and have a stunning array of cards that bear witness to the fact that they are awesome and I am never going to be in their league, but hey we all roll our own way and Swatch Buddies are flexible enough to work with my relaxed method as well as be a fantastic project for those who put their fabric in alphabetic order 🙂
We have been selling Swatch Buddies at SPOOL from the day we opened the door. I have seen swatch rings built by theme, color, and type. I saw one amazing swatch ring that one of my customers did with all her Kaffe Fassett Fabrics – HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL that was amazing! She told me that it had made perfect sense to her since she is a Kaffe COLLECTOR and it was the best way to know what she had and what she was still hunting for. Brilliant huh?? No wondering what you have at home or double buying the wrong fabric and leaving the one you needed on the shelf!
Swatching is easy and the cards are totally reusable!

I am a novice quilter/sew-er…and I have absolutely no idea what is in my stash, just what it weighed when we moved from Houston, TX to Albuquerque, NM…and how much space it takes up…

I either keep little squares in a baggie for projects or I did attempt to make my own “swatch buddy” a few years ago – I cut 2″ squares of all my fabrics (took awhile) and then put a grommet in each one and then on a key ring. Was too much to carry around. I would love these!!! Wish I was going to Market!
I love Swatch Buddies, I use them when I’m shopping for a new project.
I don’t have any way to do this, but this is an awesome idea!
I use binder rings and cut squares of fabric, punch a hole in the corner and add it to the ring…but only for my applique fabrics. For my quilt fabrics I pretty much haven’t organized, though I have photographed some and stored them in a stash app on my phone. I would love to try Swatch Buddies. Thanks for the chance to win.
I don’t keep up with organizing my stash! It has overwhelmed me and taken over! But alas, I purchased Swatch Buddies and have every intention of regaining control! I just need some BadAss Swatch Buddies to lead the charge! PS, I love reading all your posts, seeing pictures of Spool and watching your videos! One day I may figure out a way to actually visit your little slice of paradise!

Well this would mean I have to finally unpack my stash for the boxes it has lived in since my last house move…. I guess I’d kinda miss fossicking around shoulder deep in boxes.

I have no current system of keeping track of my fabric. I may find a few pieces and then buy some to go with it.
Currently, its a hot mess. I have no idea what I have where. But I sure would love to organize by shelf!!! That would be bad ass!
I would LOVE one of these to keep my Konas straight so I stop buying the same shades LOL! Plus I would love to flaunt my badassery!
How do I currently keep up with my stash? HAAHAAHAAHAHA! Oh, you were serious? Well, shoved in all the nooks and crannies of the tiny apartment are the infamous plastic bins… My system consists of digging through them while muttering to myself “where the $^#$% is that piece?!” 🙂 I was always kind of intimidated by the swatch buddies, cause I thought, “Gee, I’d have to organize and swatch EVERYTHING” Never thought to just use them for a project or two (or ten) Even if I don’t win, I already did just by getting that idea from you! Have great fun at market, looking forward to the photos…. 🙂

Keep up and organize my stash….now that’s a laugh! If I need to match fabrics for a project, I’ll either tape pieces of the fabrics to my shopping list, put them in a small Baggie, or just guess, and enveritabily come home with the went color. I’d never heard of Swatch Buddies until this post!
My fabric is everywhere…have not figured out a way to keep track of what I’ve got.

keep up with my stash ?? lol I keep up with it in my mind…which is why I have multiples of fabrics and NOT stuff I need at times. PLEASE, help this mindless old woman gain some control in life, cause this OLD ASS is losing her mind. *hugs*
No effin’ way!! I NEED this in my life. I never thought to make swatches of my fabrics to know what I have on hand. So… I guess to answer the question, I have not kept up on my stash. But obviously I need to now. Like RIGHT. FREAKIN’. NOW.

I am usually buying too much of the colors I already have and forget to buy for the fabulous print I had to have but have nothing to go with it! The Swatch Buddy might prevent me from repeating this pattern of behavior.

I print a picture of my project and tape pieces of the fabrics I have to it. This would be SO MUCH better!!!

I try to keep my stash in color order but when I decided to get more involved in Modern now I want to change that so it would be a great help…..

I try to keep the stash organized in my head. That is likely why the stash is always muddled!
I am embarrassed to say I have never thought of using swatches. When I am out looking for that last fabric to finish out a quilt top, I bring in the whole bundle. Love the idea of swatch buddies. And Bad Ass ones, well that only makes it better!

This will keep me from buying any more duplicates of Christmas fabrics. I have so many I might need two or three sets.
I’ve been waiting with bated breath for this announcement. Keep track of my stash???!! Really…a quilter can do that?? It’s been in my head for years and it is time for it to “come out” so that I can fill my head with other creative endeavors! I’ve been a bad-ass sewist since I was five and I think it’s about time for me to develop a tracking system for my stash. Help me…BAQS!
I take pictures on my phone but it has backfired before and the Cora didn’t really match. These swatch cards would allow to better match fabric and especially since most of my fabric is in storage.
I have no system, just a big disorganized closet lol I need help!
I don’t know how to keep up. That’s why I have so many similar dark blues and dark purples but almost no bright colors like yellows or oranges. I need more variety. And a way to show my bad-ass-ness, because I do not drink coffee.

I use a safety pin with scraps of the fabrics. I so need this.
Oh this is awesome!! How have I not seen them in the store?!? I have most of my fabric bolted on comic book boards in a book case in our bedroom. Unfortunately, my stash has outgrown my book case. Oops 😉
