OMG!… have you ever picked up a book and just knew you had been waiting for it? Of course you did not know you had been waiting for it but maybe you had been feeling a little growly and discontent, searching but you were not quite sure for what? Â Might I suggest that creating your own fabric might be it and Playful Fabric Printing might be your answer?
And here is the cool thing, it does not have to take up a lot of room or even be a lot of fabric. Since I know you.. you are saying  “but – but – but , I have all this other fabric I have not used yet”… By doing small batch printing you can infused some life into a stash that might not be making your socks roll up and down right now. Or maybe it would add a spark to a collection you have been eyeing but were not sure what to do with.
In other words you don’t have to abandon the quilt store fabric that you love to also fall in love with the idea of printing your own fabric as well!
This book ticks all the boxes for me, and the truth is I am rather a hard-ass these days when it comes to adding a new book to my personal library.
- Gorgeous printing, layout and color. I don’t know about you, but the way a book feels in my hand is important – so I am all over the nice paper that was used and the cover texture.
- Easy to digest information broken up in accessible chunks for reading during a busy life.
- Formula and resource sheets
- Eye-candy level inspiration with a nice balance of accessibility. You will feel like you too can do this after reading this book.
So.. want a chance at winning a copy? Â ..of course you do!

I love dying fabrics but have never printed any. This is so interesting!!!
Many, many years ago I used to do tye-dying to get fabric for sewing. I just remember it as being messy and very tricky to get a particular image printed. I think I’d like to try printing fabric if I had a great guide for doing it — like this wonderful eye candy book. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy!
Have not printed my own fabric in years if you include the tye dying when the kids were young. I am interested in doing my own as I have seen some really beautiful fabrics at the Texas Quilt Show back in November 2016.
Oh I have heard about this book and would love to get my hands on it!
I love printing my own fabric…they don’t call me a surface design/fabric artist for nothing.

Yes please…..I have a very large Rubbermaid tote full of Procion dyes, begging me to come and play with them again –it’s been far too long since I have. Printing I’ve not tried so much, but this book hints of all kinds of treasures lurking within. I need inspiration, and motivation….
I have never tried printing or dying fabric. I have dye powder but am to chicken to try it. 🙂
I took a monoprinting class at Nancy Crow’s workshop barn and have been playing with dye ever since, but have just gotten supplies together to start screen printing (Kerr Gerbrowski is my design idol)! Would love to win Pokey’s new book after drooling over it on her blog. 🙂

No, I haven’t printed my own fabric yet unless tye dying t-shirts when I was a Girl Scout counts. Looks like fun and always open to new ideas to make my quilts my own!
I have dyed fabrics using many techniques. Ice dying, sun dying, shibori, and tied. It’s really fun to see it all come to life!

I am primarily an Art Quilter. I have painted, dyed, manipulated, stamped, rusted, and distressed fabric. This book appears to have some techniques I have yet to explore. My Bad-Ass self is very desirous of owning this book. Give it to me, I need it! And I will pass it around my art quilt group, inspiring jealousy and more sales.
Oh, yes! I love all of this! I’ve done some printing, a lot of painting and dyeing but nothing spectacular and I so love spectacular and want to read and learn more!!!
