Well I have to say that right now I feel lucky to be getting this post up.. life has been seriously getting in the way… is it ever that way for you? I have currently made my way to my office … a slow go at best given that my knee looks like a very ugly cantaloupe and hurts like crazy. And when I say hurt, I am a woman who has given birth to 11 pound babies unmedicated and started back to work the day after having a hysterectomy.. and people.. this hurts!.. Current best guess is that it is a Baker’s Cyst, but I hope to know more on Monday.. so perhaps when you are reading this I will have already have had it drained and feel SO very much better… let’s just hope for that huh??
But no matter… it is week THREE and I am so excited about how many of you are playing along and coming to learn about notions that I think you are going to LOVE.
First up today is a product that some of you have caught site of in my videos when I was talking about binding. Yes, I am the very happy owner of a Binding Babies Binding Spool!… Such an adorable way to keep binding ready for a quilt and then to help dispense it as I sew!
Full discluorse I am an Angel Backer for Binding Babies because I love to see a new business succeed!
But maybe you need one right away!…I am thinking of this as my GO-TO gift for the sewers and quilters in my life this holiday season. Can you image this cuteness in your sewing room?… Well the ever so amazing Shari of Doohickey Designs has sent a binding baby for EACH OF OUR WINNERS! So no matter which week you win in you will have a binding baby of your own!
As a sweet, sweet bonus one of our winners is going to be the proud owner of one of Shari’s Ruler Roundups!

Next up, I could not be more excited to welcome Karen Kay Buckley to the Notions Round-Up. I squealed like a school girl when she agreed to come on as a sponsor. I am a serious fan girl of her products and of her scissors most of all. Karen has been most generous and all of our winners will be getting one or more of her amazing products.
I think that when a quilter is the one who is creating a product for themselves and other quilters there is a level or care and knowledge that goes into the creation of the product. They know the challenges you are facing and are creating products that help you over come issues that hamper doing the best work possible.
For me it is her scissors. Karen Kay Buckley Scissors have soft flexible handles that are easy on my joints which are often swollen or cranky coupled with being wicked sharp and having possibly the most perfect micro serration that grips the fabric and helps make incredibly precise cutting of appliqué a breeze! They come in multiple sizes for just about every project!
That said I had so many customers who sung the praises of her multipart rulers that I would be totally remiss in not giving them a serious shout out. These are the rulers that you need and want if you travel with your quilting .. to retreats, or vacation. Easy to pack and machined to a remarkable tolerance to fit together smooth like glass.
A new product to me is Karen’s Perfect Thread Bag. I don’t know how I missed this but I am in LOVE with this. What a great way to keep your hand sewing threads with you, tidy, dust free and the way they thread out through the suede strip… GENIUS! As the owner of 7 cats who happen to have a serious passion for thread spools… or should I say unspooling… this is an amazing way to keep thread safe for you and FROM them not to mention move things around the house…without dumping things all over the place.
So cool huh?…. well I have even more to show you but will be saving that for a livecast this week. I am thinking Wednesday but keep your eye on the BAQS FB page to make sure!
Ok… you all know what to do!.. Leave a comment and this time tell me if any of these notions are new to you and perhaps which ones are on your lust-list for the coming days!! We will pick the week 3 winner on Friday. All winner packages will be sent out at the end of the month with a variety of products from our sponsors. Winning in any one week does not guarantee you the products from that week but does get you a large box full of amazing notions goodness from our generous sponsors!!

The binding babies spool is new to me, as are the multisize rulers, both such great ideas! Hope the knee is better soon
I am not an iron or scissor ‘snob’ but the scissors look really great! I am not familiar with the binding babies spool. Awesome!
The binding baby is new as are the folding rulers. Very interesting. I’ve been coveting the Karen Bay Buckley scissors for a long time. I saw her speak years and years ago and have been a big fan of her precision work (not my style at all.)

The scissors look really good to me!
The Perfect Thread Bag is new to me, but I would have to say the rulers are on my lust list. The binding babies are a very cute addition to a quilter’s tool box.
I just got back from a quilting retreat on an island accessible only by boat. The rulers and the thread bags would have been perfect!
I love Karen Kay Buckley..
The adjustable ruler is new to me & now, of course I want it! I learned of the binding babies a couple months ago, so it’s on my wishlist!
All of these tools look wonderful.
all of the karen kay buckley products are new to me! the multi part rulers are brilliant- i never travel with a ruler bigger than my 12″ square, because i don’t trust the baggage handlers not to break it, but i miss my 24″ ruler when i don’t have it!
(really really hoping that your knee is feeling better by now!)
Wow, I think the rulers look great and would be wonderful for my quilting retreats I go on… so easy to pack – love that they come with their own case. I have two of your scissors and love, love them and could always use more……. the thread holders are neat and so are the binding buddies… you are super clever. thank you for making our quilting lives easier. have a wonderful day.
We have several pairs of the scissors in the studio, so we’re huge fans. I haven’t heard of the other notions, though, other than the Binding Baby. I haven’t used it, but I can see how it would be beneficial. I’ve been using a spare thread stand, and it’s not as easily done.
I’m so sorry you’re in pain… Best of luck with your knee! Thanks for showing us all these nifty notions! I would love to get my hands on some of the Binding Babies Binding Spools!
I have seen the scissors before, but the rest are new to me. The Binding Babies are adorable and look like they would be very useful!
This is so funny because just yesterday I was talking with a fellow quilter and she mentioned Karen’s scissors as being so awesome! I had not heard of her, and then now your post. I am seeing some new scissors in my future!
I’ve never seen those scissors, ruler roundups or the thread case but would love the thread case.

The binding babies are incredible – never saw them before.
The binding babies and the multi part rulers are new to me! But seriously, I can lust after all these lovely notions.
Ha. Overslept this morning and had to RUN off to school, so not even close to 1st this time…
I like the ruler roundup thing and I don’t think I saw the break apart ruler before, but… I have seriously lusted after those scissors for ages….
So sorry about your knee. I hope you have relief by now. I love the rulers! So cool, how would have thought. The scissors, the bag! All of it.
Binding bababies are new to me.
Wow lots of great stuff!! I’ve seen the binding babies on Instagram.. So cute… Everything else is new to me!! Thank you for all you do for us Quilters, especially when you’re hurting.. We appreciate you.. Feel better soon! ❤
I LOVE KKB’s scissors – they are divine! I have seen the binding babies, but have been using all my willpower to resist buying (being good is so over rated).
Had not seen the rulers before, but given that I will now be traveling from Texas To Maryland once a year to attend retreat with my quilting peeps , those rulers look like a better solution that taping my rulers to empty bolts to ensure they are safe in my luggage.
Feel better soon, Maddie.
What amazing notions…..I have heard of the binding babies but didn’t know how they worked until I watched your video. All other notions are new to me and would love to have any one of them.
As someone with rheumatoid arthritis, the scissors sound fantastic to me.
Love the rulers. Great that they separate so that travel and storage are easier on us!
All of these are new to me and are now on my “lust list”!!!
The Binding Buddies are adorbs, I will have to keep those in mind to tuck into swap packages as little gifts.
