Those who know me know that I love doing complex, layered and slightly over the top appliqué… and while I don’t always use a fusible due to the way it changes the hand of the fabric with this new product I just might!! Barely There by the people at Swirly Girls is a new whisper thin, ultra-sheer, iron-on adhesive and comes in pre-cut 8.5″ x 11″ sheets to print or copy on your inkjet printer. Features quick, easy release paper liner – no more picking at the edges of your applique! Barely There is permanent, machine washable and acid free. Perfect for layered appliqué!

I know that as I have aged good lighting is no longer a luxury, it is a must! No matter if I am machine or hand sewing I need good light and my glasses to be able to see what I am doing! The people at Harbor-Sales have been so great as to send us two versions of their Vivilux lighting to give away! I am hearing some good things about this rechargeable lighting and look forward to hearing from those who win as to how they are using it!
You know the drill….. leave a comment to be in the running, pop over and check out these cool products online or at your local quilting store. We announce a winner on FRIDAY on the BAQS Facebook page!

Love the barely there. Lots of my clients do applique and it is stiff as a board to quilt. And light, must have light.
I never can have enough light! That pattern looks so happy! It sure put a smile on my face!
Sounds intriguing!
I have my eye on these lights!
I haven’t used fusibl because if the stiffness it causes. Barely there sounds intriguing…and who o f us, past a ‘certain age’, couldn’t use a great light!
Will be looking for both of these products at my LQS–I always try to shop there first! Lightweight fusible is a very desireable item!
I love that pattern!!! And paper thin fusible??? A must have for me!!
You have the best suppliers anyone could hope for.
Awesome a fusible that goes through a printer….wow
Wow. I do a lot of fusible applique and this new product looks great. I’m going to have to get some whether I win or not! And I can always use more lighting, that’s for sure.
Barely There looks like a great fusible to cut down on bulkiness!
OMGoodness! Love the silly little thread cutter! Why didn’t I think of that!
Oh, boy, I have yet to find a small light that I like. This could be it!
Looks like a great light for my tired ol’ eyes!
The light has my heart all aflutter.
I’m always looking for the best lights. My sewing space is in the basement so lightening is a constant challenge for me!
Barely There sounds wonderful! I’m trying to hand see around applique now and am having a huge problem with the stiffness and the needle going through.
Yup, getting older sucks. I just bought a good OTT light, but I really like the looks of that vivilux lamp!
That light is great!
As I’m starting to really enjoy appliqué, the barely there fusible looks awesome! No more sitting at the window to trace designs in reverse on the paper side for my current project!
Wow! You are really introducing some great “can’t live without” notions. I can certainly relate to the importance of good lighting….
Excellent products! Everyone needs more light! We should lobby the manufacturers for better built in lighting.
What a great idea rechargeable light oh I would so love to have this
Both of these items are new to me, and both sound great! Thanks for the introduction (and for expanding my wish list…)
I really want to give Barely There a try. A soft and supple applique would be a game changer. Will check out the lighting from Vivilux too!
My tired eyes need all the help they can get.
Boy, that lighting would be great for these old eyes! I’m always looking for lighting that is bright & since I have been doing Halloween quilts that have appliqué on them, I would sure like to try out the new fusible for it.
Wowzers these look great!
These eyes need light… checking that out today!
I too need easy portable lighting and this is worth investigating.
Sure could use something nicer than Steam-a-Seam 2!
I love notions way to much!
Looks like two really cool things today! Where do you find them? Would love to win them.
That lighting looks amazing!
Ohhh who couldn’t use more lighting. Even with trifocals I need light exactly where I’m working.
Awesome stuff!
love to try the Barely There
Definitely need more lighting – glasses alone don’t cut it anymore!
Love both of these! I love fusible appliqué and do a lot of it. Trying out a new fusible would be great! As far as the light? Yes. My eyes as I age are having a much harder time seeing what I’m doing.
Fusible through my copier? Where have I been? JOY!
I’m definitely taking a run to the hardware store today!
Game changer. I, too do not like the way most fusubles feel when pressed to the fabric. Can’t wait to try this product.
Can always use more lighting.
I’ll definitely be trying the Barely There for my appliqué! I also do not like the way most fusibles change the feel of my fabrics.
A cordless rechargeable light? Oh yes…. I love it!
Rechargeable lighting? How cool is that?
I appreciate these posts! There are some great items out there!
Barely There is a very nice improvement. Will be looking for it.
Who doesn’t like a good notion and something new? These products are fun to read about.
Rarely use fusibles for my applique, but this would be worth a try since it looks very, very light weight. And, at 61, good lighting is a must.
I must get up too early. Wasn’t I first last time as well? LOLOLOOL
