One of my pledges for the new year was to enact changes in my life that would make my life simpler in order to gain more time for the things I loved, like sewing and quilting.
One of those ways was to cut down the number of items in my life that I needed to care for. The first place I enacted this was in my closet. Over the past year I had cut down from a 100+ piece wardrobe to a 30 piece and that had made a huge difference but I wondered how far I could push it. So in late November I dived into a 10 piece core wardrobe challenge. Yes just 10 pieces + underthings, outerwear and shoes. It was going to only be a month, you can do anything for 30 days after all!
Well it turns out that I LOVED it. Each piece is my favorite since I only kept those items that looked good on me and made me happy. So each day I am greeted by a closet that helps me look and feel great and best of all it saves me SO MUCH TIME!
Laundry takes no time at all – like really it takes me 3 minutes top to fold, hang and put away things. {insert angels singing}
Part of my pledge was taking better care of my thing and that is where Soak comes in. Check out the video and see how I am using Soak products to make a better world for myself! Let alone my secret use for Flatter!
After you have watched the video, make sure to comment and answer the question for your chance to win a Soak set of your very own. We will pick a winner at 9pm on Sunday night (15th)

I just cleaned out my closets and dressers and donated bags to the local hospice thrift store. I now have a very pared down wardrobe and love it. Thanks for the tips and giveaway. grinnie1961 at gmail dot com
It’s funny…I have a core wardrobe surrounded by clothes I don’t wear…I like the idea of boxing it up!
I just purchased my first bottle of SOAK but have yet to use it…
It sounds like a perfect way to refresh your closet.
I have been purgingvevery corner of the house and aspect of my life… and while I have already dobated five garbage bags full of my clothes and the kids (but mostly mine, since I usually donate the kids outgrown stuff 2x a yr)… Yet, I still have stuff that I don’t wear and worn out items I love… so for 2017 ai want to get rid of all the ratty stuff and rarely wirn stuff… and get down to a core wardrobe and design and sew mysrlf the items that I LOVE… and keeping those beloved pieces in great conditions requires more careful cleaning… so I am eager to try Soak.
My rule is if I buy a new peice of clothing two peices must go out. It keeps my wardrobe to a minimum and makes dressing easy. I was not aware of soak and flatter. Since I’m only washing my clothes separately this sounds like a product I should definitely try and soon. Thank you for the info much appreciated.
I need ! Also need to cleanse my closets..and dressers..way to many clothes..I am 68 years young..have clothes I wore in high school..hoarder much?
What is a “speakeasy private facebook page” ??
Basic black pants are my fav
I heard about these products at my Local quilt shop, and am eager to try them. The fig scent was recommended, but they were out.
I’ve been trying to take better care of my bras, sweaters, and dresses by hand washing them. And I use Soak!
I, too, think one of the best parts of Flatter is the smell!
Kudos to you on being able to go with the minimal wardrobe. It does inspire me to go through my closet and send things I haven’t worn in over a year to our local thrift store. I haven’t tried either of these items but you have inspired me to give them a try.
I hate to admit that my “core” wardrobe consists of jeans and t-shirts, but I do aspire to dress better. I just don’t like shopping for clothes! I have flatter in Fig but haven’t tried using it in the closet. You have given me food for thought. I think wardrobe has just moved up the list in my goals for the year!
I have pared down my wardrobe after retiring, but I still have too much clothing. I find that I wear certain things more and some almost never. I may try cutting it down even further. I really like jeans as my mainstay for pants, but I need a couple of pair of dress pants for times when only “dress wear” will suffice.
I would love to try Soak and Flatter to help preserve the pieces that I love.
Because we are selling our house it was the perfect time for me to downsize. Only kept about 25 core pieces and of course accessories. Thank goodness shoes don’t count as core pieces.
I have lots of clothes that I never wear but the hang in the closet just in case. I have a habit especially n the winter to wear the same pieces over and over because I love them and they are warm….I actually have several pieces that I only wear when I go out and they have been around for close to 15 years. I would love a chance to win the soak products so I can keep some of my newer pieces forever.
People have comfort food and now we have comfort clothes.
Nice seeing you Maddy and you are looking good.
A minimal wardrobe would be nice, but but but…! Lol! I tend to keep a range of clothes sizes in addition to all occasions! Would love to try Soaks and Flatter, I like really soft material which tends to be thin and wear out faster.
I have a closet full but only wear the same few pieces 😉 I would probably be game for a minimalist wardrobe but I am not an accessory kinds gal so I would look the same every day ;( products sounds great. Def need to try flatter.
I have cut down my wardrobe but not nearly as pared down as it could be. I have lots of room so I don’t worry about it.
I have too many categories of clothes to whittle down to 10 pieces, but I applaud your ability to do so! I work in a professional office 5 days a week so I have to dress up every day. I don’t think I could wear the same 10 outfits all the time without someone blowing up my spot. Not to mention I really have spring, summer, fall, and winter outfits because we get temps ranging from sub zero to around 100 here. I find your videos really inspirational though and I will definitely continue to pair down my wardrobe. I try to buy better quality pieces and then wash gently. I would love to try these products since they come so highly recommended.
I can’t imagine only 10 pieces, but good on you. I am inspired to sort through and find the things I love and move them to the front so I have a fun and easy ‘go to’ section. Might be a step in the right direction.
Soak & Flatter sounds great & I would love to try them!! I have started just going to my closet & picking 10 items at a time to go to the Neighborhood House, which is where I donate my items!! So far I have gotten rid of 30 items & I think it is time to go pick 10 more items!!
Need to do some wardrobe purging myself…too many bins of clothes “I hope to fit into again” and also things I don’t wear. All of the Soak products sound yummy and I would love to try them!
Love to buy quality classic or funky garments — so they are good ‘forever’!
‘Flatter’ sounds great for travel….
I’ve been cutting down my wardrobe because I hate shopping and dealing with clothes. At home I’m in comfortable jeans (I own two pairs) and plain tops with slippers. I can’t wear jeans to work so I have two pairs of black polyester pants (yuck) and pleather half boots that I wear with my tops. As soon as I walk in the door I can whip the pants off and be comfortable again!
I’ve heard great things about these products would love to try them for myself.
Also severely downsizing! And I feel so free!! Not down to ten pieces yet but getting there.
Don’t know that I could get down to just 10 items, but I am going to reduce what I have, I don’t use 90% of what is there. Going to donate to those that need it.
Goodness, my wardrobe used to be a hot mess. Now, it’s a lukewarm mess. I’ve been paring down the items in my closet, and I’ve cleared out two dresser drawers. I’m in the midst of a Kansas winter….and I really need to try Flatter for issues with static! Thanks for the opportunity!!!
The flatter sounds heaven sent! I think I need some
Oh my–I do tend to wear the same things a lot so perhaps I could do with less.
We had to do the minimal thing when we moved into our RV permanently. Space is a big issue. It’s been ok. But there are things I miss.
Well after seeing this I ran to my closet and purged it. Two whole bags worth of stuff. Wanted to do this and finally got off my ass and it feels so good. Would love to give all the products a try!!!
I need to go through my clothes again, I did get rid of 5 large bags of stuff last summer, but need to purge more. Not sure uf I could get down to 10 though!
If I took all of the clothes out of my closet that I don’t wear much or at all, I expect it there would be 10 or 12 pieces left. Closet cleaning is on my list.
I’ve had to be selective in the past with my clothing because of money and I hated it. I enjoy having options and don’t think I could embrace the minimalist wardrobe again.
Thanks for the chance to win! Even with dryer sheets, I find my sweaters and shirts still have static issues. Would love to try the Flatter for that!
Less is more and I am line drying my favorite winter items. I would love to try the flatter spray to help release the wrinkles.
Do they make flatter for people? Lol
Where how did you start with core color for your wardrobe?
Wow pairing down my wardrobe and wearing only pieces I love sounds like a dream. How does soak compare to woolite?
I love the idea of simplification. Not sure how you do that with the distinct seasons.
You sure make a girl want to give up all those clothes that don’t fit or you put on and take off just as quick because they don’t feel right. I may just pack a charity box this week.
Flatter is great…I’ve only used dial in hand washing in the sink. Are there instructions for machine use?
Oops meant soak –hate autocorrect
Oh geez, my closet is a crammed disaster! Fortunately, my husband does the laundry, nut I have to put it away. I have started to donate a bag here and there, and maybe one winter day, I will tackle a bigger purge. I think Flatter sounds awesome!
I could not imagine going down to 10 pieces. My weight fluctuates. Also I find I need really cold weather outfits for trips back home, regular winter and hot, humid summer outfits. Still I don’t have a ton of clothes. For winter static on laundered clothes I add 1/8 cup of white vinegar to the wash water instead of fabric softener. Cheaper too and you don’t get all those scents that can aggravate allergies.
About a year about I cut my wardrobe down. Like way down. Cept work, because it’s a basically a uniform, I didn’t count that, but I fluctuate between 15-20pc. It’s really nice, you learn that all it takes is a scarf or a broach can bring out the simplest thing.
I only dry my clothes for about 10 minutes, enough to knock the wrinkles out, then I hang em up to dry the rest. It’s really no big deal. Saves the clothes & the electric bill. A little flatter will help in more wrinkly things for sure.
I would really like to try Flatter in the Celebrate scent. 🙂
I’m REALLY picky about what I buy… especially with regards to where it’s manufactured. I make a lot of my own clothes (and the clothes for my kids). I’m certainly not a minimalist, but I prefer fewer high quality items over more low quality things.
I personally lived with a few pieces of clothing because I was super obese. I have lost 140 pounds so far. I have started to collect a lot more clothing and buying only what I love is great advise. Caring for it is equally important. I’ll give these products are try.
There was almost a year, where we had to stay with family, and for both me and my hubby, we had two small suitcases and an overnight bag. So while I know I can do the minimal thing… yeah. Nope. Not for now anyway. I have about halved my clothes though, sorted out “will never fit again” and “will never wear again” . ?
I have been using the Flatter as a wrinkle release and love it as well!
And on the minimalist wardrobe – I sort of do this but your “scarfs” are like my sweaters….I have so many memories attached to so many sweaters that I wear them when I need “that memory or that mood” to carry me on with my day 🙂 But I did finally box up those “size 6 jeans” I’m never gonna fit into again – as well as the “frumpy pants” so I never need to wear those again either 🙂
I could do this if I could find a core wardrobe that looks good and feels good. I guess this is something I need to be looking into..l would live to try these products and whittle down my wardrobe…
