One of my pledges for the new year was to enact changes in my life that would make my life simpler in order to gain more time for the things I loved, like sewing and quilting.
One of those ways was to cut down the number of items in my life that I needed to care for. The first place I enacted this was in my closet. Over the past year I had cut down from a 100+ piece wardrobe to a 30 piece and that had made a huge difference but I wondered how far I could push it. So in late November I dived into a 10 piece core wardrobe challenge. Yes just 10 pieces + underthings, outerwear and shoes. It was going to only be a month, you can do anything for 30 days after all!
Well it turns out that I LOVED it. Each piece is my favorite since I only kept those items that looked good on me and made me happy. So each day I am greeted by a closet that helps me look and feel great and best of all it saves me SO MUCH TIME!
Laundry takes no time at all – like really it takes me 3 minutes top to fold, hang and put away things. {insert angels singing}
Part of my pledge was taking better care of my thing and that is where Soak comes in. Check out the video and see how I am using Soak products to make a better world for myself! Let alone my secret use for Flatter!
After you have watched the video, make sure to comment and answer the question for your chance to win a Soak set of your very own. We will pick a winner at 9pm on Sunday night (15th)

I have used Soak for my handknits since it first came out. Love, love, love it! Haven’t tried Flatter yet, but I think I might be hunting some down very soon.
The idea of a capsule wardrobe really appeals to me. Not having to fight through a cluttered closet to find something to wear sounds like a dream…but. Haven’t gotten there yet. It’s still on my radar, though!
I definitely need to rid my closet of many items. I haven’t worked in the last 6 years so I have many ‘office clothes’ that have just been hanging around. I would feel much better with less in the closet.
I don’t buy clothes often but I have a really hard time letting anything go. I’ve also yoyoed with my weight so I have some things in every size. I need to find a core wardrobe like you!
I’m sooo OCD my closet looks pretty good, color corganized…BUT I could use some minimal ideas. I do have a rule that for every new piece of clothing I get that I remove 5 pieces. It’s helped me greatly purge out things I don’t wear. And I’m on a PURGE marathon in my quilt studio. Recently gave away 175 of my coveted quilt magazines. Feels GREAT!! Would love to try Flatter?
Hmm, a little intrigued about Flatter. I use Static Guard and Wrinkle Release and spray starch products. It may minimize the containers of stuff to have around. I would have only one thing in my closet if I purged the clothes I didn’t love. I like shopping for clothes about as much as I like digging ditches!
Would love to try these products. Have been working on paring down my wardrobe and possessions
LOVE flatter. I have only used it for quilting-ONLY. it has been a life changer. But now, in my closet, who would have thought. Game changer.
Wow! what a cool video..very helpful!! I am in process of clearing out closets… I am good at passing on things..my Husband is the “keep it all!” person round here! giggle.. I need to convince him to rid out his stuff..so much is not worn…or is not his size anymore… Thank you for the encouragement!! 🙂
Also, thank you for chance to win your give-a-way too! 😀
I am trying to pare down but between a new job, weight gain, travel, etc. I’m not doing too well with that. It’s definitely a goal! I realize that a lot of my wrinkle issues are due to a tightly packed closet and so much laundry between 6 people that I don’t get my clothes hung up in time.
I just purged my closet last weekend. Spent the day going through my closet and bureau and had a bag to throw away and a bag to donate. Not a small bag, a big trash bag. I let go of shirts I had been hanging onto for years. It was wonderful. My hubby does the laundry so there’s no special care routine.
My wardrobe is a disaster – I’ll be honest. I have so many things that I need to get rid of. And so many sizes of things! I have tubs of clothes in our basement marked by size, nevermind I’ve not been those sizes in years~! Maybe 2017 will be the year of the purge 😉
Slowly but surely I am getting rid of stuff… but I think my husband is right in that I am a ‘pack rat’! I don’t have a lot of clothes because I don’t enjoy shopping for clothes… it is frustrating and always reminds me that I really should lose some weight?. As a result, the clothes I do have get washed frequently and wear more quickly… so I can see how these products might be just what I need!!
Wow just basically started watching your site and wish and needed to pair down a lot of things in my life. I have never seen or heard of the Soak products in my area and reading the comments plus the video would like to give it a try.
Hi Maddie! Well you gave me that kick in the ass to keep going! I started to pare down my closet in October when I lost weight after my knee surgery. I wound up with 4 large boxes of stuff to donate. I also gave two boxes of stuff to a Mom and her daughter who is the same size as I was because they had nothing around Christmas due to some unfortunately terrible circumstances. They were so excited it made me cry. I actually felt quite bad because I had so much and they had so little. We have become friendly and I’m continuing to bring her stuff as I find it. Much better than giving to Goodwill. I would love to try Soak and Flatter to keep me inspired!
I’m down to 2 pair of jeans and dress black pants. Stuff that goes with everything.
I really need to pare down my wardrobe. I have a huge pile of clothes that 1. Hate 2. Don’t fit, yet I love 3. Feel so-so about 4. Don’t remember that I have it…. you get the picture. Any who, I have now been motivated! It really makes to buy better quality and take care of them I will try these products. This is a way easier commitment than going to the gym! Ha! J u st kidding.
After a significant weight loss… out with the too big..and essentially starting over with LOTS less was much easier than imaginable. HOWEVER, I still need to work on when a new item or two comes into closet.. really need to evaluate if something can go, because the old was LOTS and MORE than wore or needed and want to avoid that.
I need to make an effort to take better care of my clothes. Not sure I could limit myself to only 10 pieces of clothing. But I have been trying to limit my purchases. Black clothing is great!
