The days between Christmas and New Years always seem to have a magical quality about them. The closing out of a year and the excited planning of the new year yet to come ( I already have my new planner.. do you have yours?). On my part it is with great excitement that we will be moving to a new house.. a house that needs a lot of work but that will be our home for the next 20 years at least. I adore feathering a nest and look forward to sharing all my adventures with you as we work our way through many..many projects and possibly not a lot of quilting but we will be creating a brand new studio! So, if you can’t find me look under the bubblewrap and boxes I am sure to be there somewhere!
With so much to do I did want to take the time to thank each of you for being part of BadAss Quilters Society. It is my honor to head up this troop of extraordinary quilters and help bring voice to those in the industry who might not get their due otherwise. I can’t say it has always been easy and there are days when I think about packing it all in. To be told by multiple companies that my demographic does not have enough “voice” for them to pay me for the work I do or to be shunned or dismissed as not of value, yeah that stings, but it also lights a fire in me and helps me double down on growing BAQS large enough so they cannot ignore us.
As of this moment there are near 27 THOUSAND people who groove on our mission that quilting is for everyone and even more than that; a just and equitable industry where creatives are paid for their work, and no one is discrimanted against is important. Our last giveaway was seen by more than half-a-million people… Power in numbers baby!
These steadfast beliefs make it even more important that I shout-out to the companies that do work with us. Those who know that diversity matters and makes our quilting community an even more important place and safe haven for many. Of course I have spoken to you of my beloved Fil-Tec and the amazing people at QT Fabrics.… today I want you to get to know the people at Colourwerx.
Linda and Carl rock my world with the fresh design and a spunky, bright asthetic that can bring a smile on even the most grey day!

I want to work on my tumbler quilt. In a moment of weakness I used a small tumbler pattern and I have what seems to be thousands of them to sew together! I love your humor on your live feeds,
I will be finishing up my mom’s unfinished projects. There are blocks, there are tops, and a couple of basted items. My mom is now in memory care, and I am hoping she’ll recognize each one as I bring them in completed! We do look at quilt magazines together, and sometimes she’ll startle me by commenting, quite clearly, on a quilt design, or a quilting pattern, or the colors in a wall hanging. Being quilters together allowed us to weather some difficult times, and gave us a lifeline for conversation when we were at odds.
2017 I mastered binding.
Raising the bar for 2018 and will master Applique.
I need to get back into sewing. It’s been a rough 2017. Hubby got 3 types of cancer, had cancer surgery. My brother became homeless Our daughter discovered her husband was leading a secret second life. I need to get my mind on something pleasant like my quilting! Praying for 2018.
My goal is to finish all my UFO’s! I have so many, 14 at last count!
My biggest goal in 2018 is to make art quilting and exercise a daily priority.
My goal is to take back my health.
My biggest goal of 2018 is to kick cancer’s butt! And make some beautiful quilts and clothes while I am doing it!!
My biggest goal for the new year is to make 4 quilts to put on the sofa, love seat and 2 chairs in the living room!! ☺
My biggest goal is to find the bottom of Henry (my 6′ x 16′ cutting table) and complete even more projects!
I would like to lose weight to try and control some health issues.
My biggest goal for the new year is to set aside at least a half hour each day for quilting and sewing. It’s fun, and clears my head from all the not so fun things. I would love to win the MOD DOG mini kit! Thanks Maddie for all the amazing projects, Patterns, fabrics and the fun you bring every day in being who we are!
I’m training for a half marathon in 2020 so my biggest goal this year is to drop under 190lbs and be able to speed walk the 13 miles in under 5 hours. Setting me up to jogging it in 2019 and competing in 2020. While, of course, finishing the 12 quilts I’ve already started.
My biggest goal for the year is to minimize the stuff in my life. I want to appreciate what I have and not have to search for things any more.
To finally make some of the quilts that I have fabric for. A Skull quilt being top of my list. Love me some Skulls and Sugar Skulls.
Mod Dog is awesome
Honestly I always try to donate at least a dozen quilts. I exceeded that in 2016. This year I will go for the same but I also organize a group of ladies that sew pillowcases for Charlotte’s Levine Children’s Hospital. Last year we sewed 434 I hope we can sew 500 this year. Fingers crossed. I am short fabric but I am hoping for some donations. I really need to clean my sewing room. That will be a major goal.
I have had a Christmas appliqué quilt kit for five years I need to conquer. Needle turn. This will be a big challenge!
My biggest goal for the New Year would to be able to learn new things when it comes to quilting, of making new designs.
Learn and do something different with quilting and machine embroidery.
Get 4 quilts done for charity and 2 Christmas quilts for my children for next Christmas
My biggest goal is to clean and organize my quilt studio!
Love love the dog.
My biggest goal is to finish the “have tos”, so I can move on to the “want to ” list. I need to learn to just say no to the have tos lol.
My biggest goal is to take more time for myself for sewing and quilting!
We just moved after 34 years in our last house.our house sold so fast we didn’t have time to get rid of 45 years of accumulation of stuff we don’t use any more. Sooooooo, our goal is to to go thru to garage full of boxes an either put away or give away all of the stuff and still get some quilting in when ever I can.
I would like to organize my house, and now that the girl’s are getting older, they can pitch in and help their Momma out this year..Other than that, I am looking forward to taking better care of my health.
To play…play…play with my new longarm by finishing a dozen or so quilt tops that have been waiting patiently to ‘be done!’ I’m slso resolved to finish one project with each new one I start, AND to use all that beautiful fabric I have in my stash before heading to the quilt shop. (I will, however, continue to buy from my LQS as I want them to thrive!)
To finish the ever growing tops pile!!! Would like to machine quilt at least four a month!!! I can dream… would be sooo happy to get a minimum of one done a month!!!
To get my quilting done on the close to 100 flimsys hanging or in the cupboard. Didn’t realize just how many until we started a plumbing project. 😕
The mini mod-dog is so cute!
My biggest goal for 2018 is stash busting. There were so many fun fabrics last year I couldn’t stop buying. Now, I need to get sewing to make room for more. 🙂
We just moved into a new to us house 3 months ago, so my goal is to get everything in its place and start remodeling one room at a time 🙂
Mod dog pattern is so cute!
That is such a cute pattern. Love the fabrics!
We are deep in remodel-mode and my sewing room is still in boxes-so my goal is to get that room set up! I feel like big chunks of ME are in those boxes. I want to feel whole again!
My biggest quilting goal is to get my wedding signature quilt finished. Been 10+ years. Yikes! Personally, letting go of things that are not productive or are stressful with no reward.
My goal for 2018 is to sew my stash!
Adorable pattern and kit fabrics sound fabulous! I love making minis, but that love hardly makes. Sent in my fabric stash. Best wishes to all for a wonderful 2018!
Yassss. My toddler would love this as a pillow.
I must make a large dent in my stash!!!
But, would love to win!
To assemble at least one kit that I have and to get quilted at least one of the many tops I have each month, all the customer’s quilts come first but my stack is growing!
To make teach my grand daughter to quilt.
Beautiful fabrics – I think I know what I’ll be spending some of my Christmas money on 🙂
