If there is one thing that 2020 has taught us is that NOW is the time to become the people we have always wanted to be because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. No matter if we are talking health, home, life or happiness if we don’t grab for that brass ring now we have no assurances that we will be circling back around again!
With that in mind I personally have a LOT OF STUFF going on ( so exciting) and one of the things on my list is furthering my skills as a quilter. I mean, honestly I am pretty good but I never give up and chance to work with a mentor when it becomes available … and that is just what is going on right now.
Would you like to be able to quilt like this???

Freehand Feather Fiesta with Bethanne Nemesh
My friend Bethanne Nemesh has taken her amazing skills that you usually have to go to a quilt show class or a private retreat to access and put them online in a 3 month, 15 hour exclusive experience where you learn from her, broadcast from her studio with a bird’s eye view of her work space for both Longarm and Domestic Machine quilting.
This is a course is meant to elevate your quilting through example, mentorship and practice! An investment in this class ( which honestly way less than it would cost to go to a retreat with her, and way longer lasting) is a gift to yourself so that you can become the sort of quilter you have always wanted to be. And if you have a quilting business this is a great end of the year investment that will pay off big next year!
But I don’t have a Longarm!
Let me be clear, not having a Longarm is NOT what is holding you back from becoming a great quilter. That is a limiting belief that is well and totally dispelled by tons of amazing award winning quilters and Bethanne gives time to both machines so that you will get just as much out of this class if you have one machine as the other. Check out the video sneak peek!
Want to learn more.. like all the great stuff that comes with this nearly 3 month long class and how you can secure a seat for yourself?…. How about one better?
Bethanne has ben OH so gracious as to extend to my BadAss peeps a $40 discount of this amazing class with the code BAQSFiesta40 (You MUST use the code to get the discount, no refunds for those who forget to use it)
FreeHand Feather Fiesta <— click there to check it out and secure your place for the class starting in Feb of 2021! ( don’t forget that discount code!)

But wait wait… there is MORE… if you are going to be taking a quilting class you need some gorgeous thread don’t you?… well I have JUST WHAT YOU NEED! How about a 10 spool Glide Thread kit to make the rest of this month and way into 2021 Merry and Bright? Glide is the GO-TO, Ride or die thread of the BadAss Quilter… it is my favorite and I am tickled to be able to give some to you!
Want to win?… Leave a comment telling me about your quilting… can you do fancy feathers or is that something you aspire to.. what has been holding you back? We will announce the winner on the BAQS Facebook page on Sunday the 20th.

Feathers make me happy when I see them. I like to experiment with different styles of them. Doesn’t matter if I stink at them or not. I just keep trying! I do them because I like them.
Glide is on my Christmas wish list…hoping to win some
Thank you for the chance to win!! I aspire to quilt beautiful feathers. Still learning the basics and meandering. I don’t get my sandwich tight enough and the backs get wrinkles. That ends up frustrating me to not doing more. Working on my domestic machine for now. Love your inspiration!!
Am interested in the class. I am just beginning to learn to quilt. I have pieced for years want to take it further
I am a at least 4th generation quilter I learned from my mother we quilt and learn from each other … we have a longarm i been learning for a bit I aspire to learn feathers I love me some feathers… would love to play with glide thread
My feathers need work. That is all I can say.
I finally found some Glide locally and it’s even more beautiful up close than it is in your videos! And so many colors to choose from!
I love Glide thread. It looks great if you meander or do a design. I don’t do feathers, but I do need to do more intricate designs to challenge myself.
As I was cleaning I recently found a practice piece with feathers that wasn’t that bad. I had put it away and forgotten. I had talked myself into a thought that maybe I wasn’t good at them and avoided them. I NEED TO GET BACK TO THEM!!! I’m sure pretty shiny thread would just add that much more to them!
I can do feathers, but I use a stencil to get me started. Love how many ways you can change them to accent any quilt.
Oooooh don’t do any fancy feathers, they have never really appealed. I strive to pebble an entire quilt…
I can do a simple meander and straight line quilting, but that is about all. I am trying to learn how to do more, but that is all I have “mastered” (HA!) so far!
I can do feathers… badly! haha! Practice makes perfect though they say! Practice I do! Thanks Maddie for all you do and introducing us to all these great people and tools! I love learning new things and seeing what you have to teach us. Makes us so much better at our craft!
I would love to learn how to do the free motion feathers. Going to put it on my to do list.
I can do a recognizable freehand feather on a good day if I warm up on paper first. It is not going to win any prizes, but you can recognize it is a feather. I am burning through cone after cone of thread and would love to win some Glide.
Yes, I can do Feathers!!! FMQ comes easy for me…except that ruler work on my domestic. Slow to learn, but progressing. Holding me back is just dedicated time…instead of getting around to it.
I love to free motion quilt on my domestic machine. I have taken several long arm classes and occasionally rent time to quilt a large quilt. I’m continuing to build my skills and have taken several classes with Bethanne. She is so talented and an excellent instructor.
I love free form feathers but have been working on expanding to other motifs.
I have done some basic freehand quilting, and stitch in the ditch on some smaller quilts. But tbh, most of my quilts get sent over to my sister’s house. She has a longarm. 🙂
My quilting mojo has been stunted during the covid. I want it back!
Lack of time is my issue currently, renovating takes up most of my day with not many hours left for ‘me’ time, bring on 2021 and having my house finished! Thanks for the giveaway and have a lovely Christmas break Maddie 🙂
I mostly do straight line quilting on small projects like table runners and pillows. I’ve let fear of failure keep me from trying free motion.
I have been working on feathers, still learning though. I love how the intricate feathering looks on quilts!
I have just learned to do feathers. I need to practice, practice, practice!
Watched the video this morning. What a fabulous way to start my week!!
I’m working on feathers. I hope to be able to just do them with out thinking about them. Practice makes perfect. 2021 will be my year to master them.
Feathers and thread! What could be better?
I do digital long arm quilting. I aspire to do the fact free motion quilting. Who wouldn’t love pretty feathers?
I’ve been working on my feathers. But now that I have looked into Bethanne I think I want to try fancy feathers!
Quilting is that part of me that while I constantly learn and grow I always feel confident while I’m doing it. If something doesn’t turn out right, I say, oh, hi there strange shape/stitch/motif, let’s try to do better next time, and move on. No ugly perfection Voices, for which I’m grateful! I could say “time” holds me back, but it’s that OTHER little voice that says “drudgery before pleasure” I think that one needs to shut it too!
I enjoy thread painting and have just stumbled on to Glide! I love the shine and light capture it provides.
I’ve never tried feathers and need to work on that. Thanks for your encouragement and inspiration! Thanks, too, for the chance to win this gorgeous Glide thread!
Great class, take it if you want to improve!
Great class so take it if you want to improve as a quilter!
I am an aspiring fancy feathers quilter. 🙂
Oh love love her quilting! I have bought her rulers and this would be fantastic! And the thread is such a bonus.
My quilting is not something I like to think about so early in the morning, but I will for you, BAQS! I have tried multiple times to do fancier footwork with my FMQ with varying results. I usually give up when the thread breaks, the stitches skip and I get those evil “eyelash” stitches. On my better days (and that ain’t so often), I’m better off with a simple meander or loopy-loo. If I want to really have no problems, I go with my walking foot and do some straight-line or organic line stitching. So, yes, I need some help!

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever done feathers. I’m really going to have to work on that! Thanks a bunch for all that you do to inspire us. Thanks, too, for the chance to win some amazing Glide thread! :~D
I currently use pantos for my quilts, but I have done some feathers (poorly). I hope to get much better at free motion.
I want and try to learn when and where I can. Unfortunately, this class isn’t in the budget right now. I will watch for it again. Love Glide thread though!!!
Right now I am still on doing the basics. I have practiced feathers but haven’t tried them on a quilt yet. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway for the thread!!
I FMQ on my domestic machine. This year I started to tackle feathers. My hardest thing to learn was turning the corner on the borders. I finally mastered that. Now I feel I need to learn to get fancy with them. Not just on borders. I have no brain block about not being good enough. I realized a long time ago that doing me is a lot less stressful than trying to measure up to show quilts.
Hi, I’m not a confident freemotion quilter, yet. I recently retired and have been focused on cleaning and purging my home. I’m reaching the point that I have the time to start doing the things I want. Improving my quilting skills is one of them. I’ve spent my entire life working and taking care of everyone else. Now I’m going to take care of me. Doing beautiful feathers and gorgeous free motion quilting is definitely something I aspire to be good at.
As always, thank you for the inspiration!
I am just getting started learning to free motion quilt on my sewing machine. Maddie, you inspire me to stretch my possibilities 😊
I love this thread!! My quilting however…is limited to straight lines and stitch in a ditch. I use clear thread when I do lines but got no confidence whatsoever! I have a perfectly lovely person who does my quilting for me….
I need to gain some more confidence with my feathers. I took a class at the International Quilt Festival. I practiced on paper a lot. Never got confident enough to try feathers on an actual quilt. This may be the boost I need to make that leap. Thanks for bringing us this opportunity.
I have not tried quilting yet, but really am looking forward to adding it in to my skill set. I just found you and live watching you. Thanks. Liz
My quilting is most successful if I stick to straight lines. Curves are not my strength. There is a lot you can accomplish with straight lines though! Thanks for the awesome giveaway -again.
Not up to feather level yet but course looks awesome.
Thanks for the Glide giveaway. Looking forward to trying that thread.
My stitching is inconsistent, depending on the whims of the machine, but I have been practicing and trying to get stitching time in.
By the way, you might know this, but at first, your site asked me to reload the page to post a comment. Then when I did that, it told me to wait 20 seconds before the submit comment appeared.
I would love to be able to start doing my own quilting. I need all the help I can get
I aspire to do fancy feathers! One day, I’ll be there!
