Saturday we say goodbye to SPOOL – the physical store (do look for another week online very soon, at KICK ASS PRICES!) and we thought it would be fun to giveaway some fabric as a way of saying thank you for all of your support over the last three years.
We are so very excited about the expanded direction we will be taking BAQS and we will have more on that later. For now, just know that there is some really cool stuff coming including weekly giveaways, livecasts, video interviews with the people you want to know and more. Until then… let’s have some fun and give away two boxes stuffed with fabric!
One box is filled with amazing “SPOOL- Style” batiks… bright, colorful, embodying everything SPOOL was about.
The other is filled with a variety of quilting cottons that I am sure will make you smile for days after opening it.
Each box is 15 yards of fabric plus some fun BAQS swag!
Leave a comment letting us know which box makes your heart beat faster and tell us what YOU would like to see BAQS doing… I want to come visit you and party!
We will draw for the winner on SUNDAY the 16th! Comments are now closed … winners were picked and notified! Watch for our next giveaway very soon!!

I am loving those quilting cottons! I will miss Spool and I’m sorry I couldn’t get there in time for your big sale. I would love to see more on line videos and some retreats from the BAQS. Wishing you all love and peace. Isn’t that all we really need? Well, and fabric.

I have discovered you a little too late but glad your going to stay online. What makes my heart beat faster is when I find fabric that is different from the run of the mill. I use batiks but also novelty fabrics in my art quilts. Looking forward in seeing more from you

The Spool Batiks sing to me. I follow The Blog and your FB posts and get a kick out of both. What should be next? Keep up the encouragement for personal expression…keep up the tutorials…keep up the humor…hey, you do all that already!

I never got to visit the store. I’m brand new to quilting and stumbled across BAQS. So glad I did! I love the quilting cottons

Oh, how to choose…! Both boxes are so lovely!!! The left box is more of what I have been gravitating towards lately. I love spool for being a voice for modern quilting and quilters of all styles. My favorite bit is spools support of art and artists by standing up against censorship in art. I think it would be sooooo freaking cool to see spool go on to tutorials on demand!! Love and success to you in your new venture!

You and your store made me smile everytime you posted on Facebook…in your face quilters with no fear. Wish I could have visited in person…love, love, love batiks…texture, colors, how they blend, and pop….I always go back to them, just like I always go back to watercolors when I paint.

Love, love, love Batiks! Come to Tampa and recruit some BadAss Quilters. I’ll be first in line!

I would be interested in the quilting cottons. I’m so sad that I did not find Spool sooner. My BFF and I were planning a road trip after the summer was over. I look forward to see all the fun stuff you are up to. I would like a to see more tutorials and I hope you are planning on doing some traveling so our guild can see you in action! Hope you get to rest and have a little family time after Saturday.

I love those bright cottons. Can’t wait to see what BAQS has in store (like more super-duper fun challenges!)

Both are wonderful, beautiful. But the batiks are my favorite by a small nose. I love the total acceptance of all quilters and quilting style endorsed and promoted by BAQS and look forward to seeing more of this in the future in even more stupendous ways.

Batiks always make my heart sing. I love that BAQS supports non-traditional ideas like “banned” quilts and the rocky horror show. I would love to see you sponser a “banned quilt show”. Ideas and quilts that wouldn’t be accepted at traditional venues – cancer, sex, rape the hard topics that still need discussed or worked through – some have just used fabric and thread to do so.

The batik group just sings to my heart! I live in Canada so I never had a chance to visit spool but I have been following BAQS and watching Maddies videos from Spool for quite some time now and I am in love with what is happening! I am a young man so I don’t really blend in with my local guilds and quilting community but I have felt an awesome connection to BAQS and I really appreciate how they are challenging the norms of the quilting world and making it acceptable to break the rules truly quilt as desired, whatever the hell that may be!! Also I just participated in the rocky horror challenge and think it is amazing to get people involved with thinking outside the box and quilting in new and exciting ways, and I look forward to entering many more competitions like that in the future!

Fun tutorials, cool new products, maybe a couple bad ass retreats -ones out of ordinary. Celebrate the differences in people. Just taking the baqs message further. Now for things that make my heart go a flutter, new fabric, new yarns, a beautiful day, a day at home to do as I please.

I love the cottons on the left. I hope BAQS does some touring and teaching. I bet you are an awesome teacher!

I am new to the world of quilting and became addicted immediately. It inspires me to see all the different ideas, patterns, colors that are in abundance around us. I would love to delve into the world of colors and brighten up someone else’s life. Either box would be an uplifting boost of quilting moral to this newby. BAQS give energy to the world of quilting and I will continue following no matter where you are. I feel like this is an exciting time in the quilting community, bring like minds together to creat beauty around us. If you were to come to Knoxville for a seminar or talk. I’d be there. Maybe a TED talk and maybe some weekend getaways of classes and gaggles of laughter. Thanks for everything you Do!

I’m a batik junkie… and those popping batiks look like a party!
I like both but leaning more towards the batiks.
I’m so glad we got to visit the store. But I had been following you way before the shop and can’t wait to see what you do next!

I have enjoyed every trip to Chattanooga, which has required a visiit to Spool. I especially appreciated the Cherrywood fabrics you carried, but most of all the support for the non traditional quilting community.

I’m a bright colors kind of gal so either of those boxes would make deliriously happy…. but I’m running low on batiks after my latest king-sized project so batiks … sad you decided to close shop but as long as the badass quilters swag remains available I will be able to pick out great stuff for my quilting buddies

Both collections are wonderful, but I would have to choose the quilting cottons since they scream bright and happy.
I do hope that BAQS will continue pushing the envelope of what quilting is and can be – both traditional, inspirational, saucy, and sometime thought provoking creations in cloth. Although BAQS sounds tough, I have always felt that you embraced all quilters, young and old, and all styles. You encourage Quilters to march to the beat of their own drum, but still let them be part of the band.
