Saturday we say goodbye to SPOOL – the physical store (do look for another week online very soon, at KICK ASS PRICES!) and we thought it would be fun to giveaway some fabric as a way of saying thank you for all of your support over the last three years.
We are so very excited about the expanded direction we will be taking BAQS and we will have more on that later. For now, just know that there is some really cool stuff coming including weekly giveaways, livecasts, video interviews with the people you want to know and more. Until then… let’s have some fun and give away two boxes stuffed with fabric!
One box is filled with amazing “SPOOL- Style” batiks… bright, colorful, embodying everything SPOOL was about.
The other is filled with a variety of quilting cottons that I am sure will make you smile for days after opening it.
Each box is 15 yards of fabric plus some fun BAQS swag!

I have to say i do absolutely love batiks! Maybe its the vibrancy of color, maybe it’s the hand, or maybe it’s the one-of-a-kind wonder of how they are created. For me it is all those things combined into beautiful fabrics that i can creat with.
BAQS, is less about what i want you to do and more about what i dont want you to do. Just keep doing all the wicked cool things you do. Dont stop. Just. don’t. stop. ♡

I lhave be the quilting cottons I was on a retreat with other quilterslast week and we discussed making a couple breast cancer quilts for auction at a local hospital for next October, Breast Cancer Month. 3 of us are survivors and we all knew others who are survivors.

I LOVE the batiks. They make me lean towards my “wild side”. I would love to see you visit local shops and retreats! I have attended retreats where a “show” is part of the Saturday night festivities and it was great. A Bad Ass Cruise would also be too much fun!!!

I am so sorry to see Spool close, but I am so excited for you! I think the Spool inspired patterned fabric would be fun as it is out of my comfort zone. I love batiks, but sometimes we need to work with new things to add some zip to our lives. Looking forward to seeing where Bad Ass comes up with next. You are all the best! Good Luck!

Don’t hit me….I’m not a batik lover. Cottons make my heart soar, the smell the feel and the patterns are just an added bonus. I’d like to see BAQS continue it’s quest to make all quilters feel like they are somebody and to squash the attitudes that some aren’t very good quilters. Keep up the positive!

I would like to see a borders blowout showing many ordinary to mind blowing ways to add a pop of glamour to quilts. I would love anything you would come up with because you rock!!

The batiks are calling to me! The saturation of the colors is just what I need for happiness as my world here in VT edges toward the cold and snow (we all know… winter *is* coming).
First and foremost, I love the voice of BAQS—especially when we get the intersection of quilting and feminism, which is a dirty word to a lot of quilters I’ve met. (That is, you are my people.) So I hope that never goes away. I haven’t yet participated, but I’ve enjoyed seeing the challenges you throw out, and hope that you continue those as well (and that my schedule can work with the timeline!).
And, as some of the other commenters mentioned, a BAQS retreat would be pretty awesome!

I love it. There are so many quilt shops across the country I wish I could visit but it’s just totally impossible. Soooo, when these shops are online, I get to visit, shop and see all the new goodies. The internet is a blessing to our craft. Go get ’em gals.

I could see me using the batiks to make a quilt for my acupuncture office. I am hoping you continue to be the voice of reason in the art quilting community. I am in a very rural small town and don’t hear about what is going on in the big quilting communities and it was eye opening to see the censorship issue. Changed my buying habits and made me aware we probably need someone to keep us up to date on these types of issues. I promise if I get those fabrics I will make something bad ass haha.
