February is Binding and Batting Month here at BAQS and this week we are talking about Glue Binding. This topic can be, well, let’s say people have FEELINGS about it and I will out myself as one is is TOTALLY in the glue binding camp especially when it comes to show quilts or when I have lost my freaking mind and decided on doing something fancy or with some crazy fabric.. glue makes it all easier!
The holy grail of glue binding is Sharon Schamber and I think everyone knows here amazing Glue Binding video on Youtube but if the rock you have been living under was extra large I link it here for you! SHARON SCHAMBER GLUE BINDING VIDEO
I also love to use Glue when I am looking for freaky exact piecing … Check out this video my Christy! Glue Basting your Seams
And much like If you give a Mouse a Cookie you will then need all the things to make this a huge success … for me that is two things.. Fork pins and glue tips! I talked about both of these things in my live on Monday morning on FB and I have some links for you and a giveaway!!!
For the best glue tips my go to is Christy at Purple Daisies.. she is Sharon’s daughter and an amazing artisan in her own right. She has the perfect glue tips for the blue back – Elmers Washable School glue bottles. Christy has been so kind as to issue as discount code just for BAQS peeps! Here’s a code for 10% off anything in the shop: BAQS10
Now, on to the fork pins… these are not well known but they are a game changer when you have items that need an extra degree of security so you can keep things crazy well aligned! These can be hard to find but Michelle at Sewing Machine Artistry has them in stock for us!

Want to win a package of Fork Pins and a BAQS swag pack?… leave a comment about your favorite notion.. we will pick a winner on Sunday the 14th!

My favorite notion is my seam ripper, I know sounds negative but without it my quilts would be a mess. I’m a glue person ever since I tried it once.
My favorite notion is a Bernina bent tip tweezer.
Fork pins and glue – who would have guessed. My favorite notion is the little gadget that helps you make bias tape. Thanks!
Definitely going to have to try these!!
My faviorite notion is my 3×12 Quilters Select Ruler. Is a ruler a notion? If not, then I would say my magnetic pincushion. I bought mine at an office supply store–much cheaper there. I actually have several–one by each machine and another in my travel kit.
I have tried glue baste and it worked well! I have never tried the fork pins but will!
Love the whatcha ma callit, helps so much in paper piecing.
I find many uses for the
Clover wonder clips. Binding of course, holding blocks together in groups, pinch the binding corners together to flatten them
Out, hold layers together when lining up one block wonder, lots of ways to enjoy these fancy little gadgets
I think these would be my favorite notion! I love having notions that help me be more efficient and help my precision. Thank you for the opportunity with this giveaway!
I have not yet tried fork pins, but I would like to win some.
You are the best. I learn something new each time. My favorite notion to have is, of course, my ripper. LOL
Today’s session was brilliant! Lots of good tips and aha! moments!!!
Beautiful binding is something I’ve not yet perfected. These notions would be so helpful!
Scabbers is adorable!! unlike his character in the book.
I would love a BAQS swag bag.
Happy Quilting!!
My fav notion has to be a sharp rotary blade! If I cant cut with ease and efficiency, it drives me crazy! Love your videos on FB.
I love the little clips. I have tons of them, and use instead of pins quite often. I just ordered the fork pins from Michelle!
Love using glue basting, especially on small appliqué. The fork pins look like a great solution for keeping things from wiggling while sewing
I could not live without my seam ripper but it is hard to find one that stays sharp for a long time
I do love the wonder clips and Clover’s pins with the flat flower heads
I have never seen these pins but they look like a very handy tool to have because I am so anal about matching. Will have to look for them at my LQS if we ever open back up.
I have started using glue basting in a lot of my quilting. It really helps to keep everything in line. I would love some fork pins!
Love these ideas!
Love your embroidery it’s beautiful
I love my seam ripper. Its is my favorite notion.
Soap. I can never find my marking pencils, but soap slivers save my ass every time!
