WOW!.. So I have to admit I was totally not expecting for the BAQS Facebook page to get 300 likes in just one day, or as I like to call them Members in one day!.. with this influx of people we are VERY very close to hitting them 4000 mark that will put in motion our big 4000 Member Giveaway!
The fact is that I will admit to being a bit dumbstruck and a wee bit panicked since like guests who arrive at your party early and you are still in curlers with no makeup on I am NOT quite ready for this! We had expected this to happen close to the end of August!
Donations are still coming through the door each day and I don’t want any of you to miss any of this amazing goodness! Remember this time I am picking TWO grand prize winners!
As it stands now we are 48 likes away from pulling the trigger on this event.. which is .. wow..it is just fantastic. Just think, that means that there are 4000 people out there who are stepping up to say that they are tired of how the world treats quilters and that we are amazing talented, and worthy artisans not ” blanket makers”.
We are unique and wonderful, we speak our own secret language! – After all no one but a quilter would understand if I said. ” I was thinking of using fat-quarters but the Kona jelly-rolls were calling my name for that Scrappy Trip Around the World” – try it. Totally worth the blank stares but if you see someones eyes light up you will know you found another quilter.
We are compassionate- You don’t have to look very far to see that quilters are on the cutting edge of helping when disaster strikes. No matter if its quilts, kind words or even cold hard cash. Quilters are there for each other.
We are artistic – no matter if making a quilt to wrap a new baby in or to hang on a wall bejeweled and bespangled each act of creation is special and a gift of the soul. Our time is valuable and we are using it well!
But add to that a kick-ass and take names spirit of those who join the BAQS and we become and unstoppable form for good and a very public face to what at one time was considered a dying art by the rest of the world. Each and every one of you is amazing!

Well I got to thinking and this is what I thought. You know quilters just keep going and going and going…So when someone asks me why I iron, cut and sew and then re-iron, re-cut and re-sew continually using up all my energy till I run out of gas…I am simply going to say cause “I’m Bad Ass” Thanks Maddie for having an idea of making quilting just more free form to voice almost all opinions on quilting and opening up to all ages and groups of people and starting ” Bad Ass Quilters Society” It is not that it wasn’t already that way it just was never put in black and white and that is what you did! So kudos to you!

I have just returned from a weekend at a quilt show. They make you fee so inspired. My guild meeting is tonight which always has me leaving in a good mood. I can’t wait to share with them what I learned and bought at the show.
