If there is one thing that 2020 has taught us is that Ā NOW is the time to become the people we have always wanted to be because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. No matter if we are talking health, home, life or happiness if we don’t grab for that brass ring now we have no assurances that we will be circling back around again!
With that in mind I personally have a LOT OF STUFF going on ( so exciting) and one of the things on my list is furthering my skills as a quilter. I mean, honestly I am pretty good but I never give up and chance to work with a mentor when it becomes available … and that is just what is going on right now.
Would you like to be able to quilt like this???

Freehand Feather Fiesta with Bethanne Nemesh
My friend Bethanne Nemesh has taken her amazing skills that you usually have to go to a quilt show class or a private retreat to access and put them online in a 3 month, 15 hour exclusive experience where you learn from her, broadcast from her studio with a bird’s eye view of her work space for both Longarm and Domestic Machine quilting.
This is a course is meant to elevate your quilting through example, mentorship and practice! An investment in this class ( which honestly way less than it would cost to go to a retreat with her, and way longer lasting) is a gift to yourself so that you can become the sort of quilter you have always wanted to be. And if you have a quilting business this is a great end of the year investment that will pay off big next year!
But I don’t have a Longarm!
Let me be clear, not having a Longarm is NOT what is holding you back from becoming a great quilter. That is a limiting belief that is well and totally dispelled by tons of amazing award winning quilters and Bethanne gives time to both machines so that you will get just as much out of this class if you have one machine as the other. Ā Check out the video sneak peek!
Want to learn more.. like all the great stuff that comes with this nearly 3 month long class and how you can secure a seat for yourself?…. How about one better?
Bethanne has ben OH so gracious as to extend to my BadAss peeps a $40 discount of this amazing class with the code BAQSFiesta40 Ā (You MUST use the code to get the discount, no refunds for those who forget to use it)
FreeHand Feather Fiesta <— click there to check it out and secure your place for the class starting in Feb of 2021! Ā ( don’t forget that discount code!)

But wait wait… there is MORE… if you are going to be taking a quilting class you need some gorgeous thread don’t you?… well I have JUST WHAT YOU NEED! Ā How about a 10 spool Glide Thread kit to make the rest of this month and way into 2021 Merry and Bright? Glide is the GO-TO, Ride or die thread of the BadAss Quilter… it is my favorite and I am tickled to be able to give some to you!
Want to win?… Leave a comment telling me about your quilting… can you do fancy feathers or is that something you aspire to.. what has been holding you back? Ā We will announce the winner on the BAQS Facebook page on Sunday the 20th.Ā

I want to do the intricate cool stuff like that! Just invested in a longarm and have a pretty steep learning curve ahead of me. Got it set up – cleaned (3 years in storage in a barn) and now…it’s almost as entertaining as teaching junior high science. What is holding me back? A lack of knowledge on what in the Hell I’m doing – and how to do it.
I’ve been longarm quilting since 2006 and began learning doing freehand and panto quilting. I added computerized midway and switched to allover quilting mainly for clients. I’m trying to cut back and now only quilt for a short list of friends. I’d like to get back into the swing of doing more custom and freehand work on my own quilts. I get a lot of requests for modern designs but love doing feathers. I have taken a lot of feather classes in the past and find it much faster to do borders this way.
My quilting is limited. Iām afraid Iāll mess up one of my quilt tops so, I piece the tops and send them to the quilter.
Just finished a Christmas piece with the bright red Glide, love it! AND I just took an online class with Bethany thru the Virginia Quilters unlimited, great teacher, thanks BAQ!
I am eager to learn to quilt my own quilts! I am a beginner to quilting and at this point I have sent my quilts to a longarmer or have used a straight stitch when I’ve done my own quilting. I took one ruler class in person but have not picked it up since. I’d like to take an online beginner free motion class. Thanks so much Maddie!
My quilting has been stuck on straight line and meandering for too long! Now that I have a good machine, I would love to be better!
I’m new to long arming. I would LOVE to be able to make feathers that actually look like feathers! I know, practice, practice, practice! Thanks for the chance to win!
Love the look of quilting when using Glide thread. No lint – no breaks – it is awesome whether doing fancy feathers or a simple stipple. Great thread.
I have just begun to free motion quilt!! I seem to gravitate back to the swooping meandering loops. But I do enjoy it. Tried Glide thread š§µ OMG!! Iām hooked!!!
I love the feathers! Someday I hope to be able to do that! Just working on basics right now
What holds me back? Itās that little voice that nags at me, telling me I will never be good enough. Iāve come a long ways, but she is still these, whispering in my ear. Honestly, she just needs to shut up, because she is a liar.
I have mastered the free motion but I want to learn more of the fanciers ones. I have all of Her her rulers and use them. They make very nice curves for a feather and love the 1/8ā lines on them. Love the glide thread.
I aspire to become good at free motion but for nowI use the computer and all the beautiful patterns out there. Oh and Glide is my only thread I use. Itās my absolute favorite thread.
I have feathers under control SOME of the time. I admire Bethanneās style very much and have taken a couple of courses from her in the past. But I signed up for this new one because I always learn something new from her. And, too, practice makes the feathers perfect. š And I use Glide thread now exclusively on my longarm machine. It is fantastic.
I’m still working on my fmq skills. I mostly do straight line quilting or shadow quilting with my walking foot.
I can’t do a fancy feather, but I can do a wonky one, lol. I do straight lines and fmq, both are fun.
I do free motion but need more practice!
Would love to win that gorgeous thread!
I would love to do fancy feathers. Iām not there…need to practice š¢š
I piece tops and my husband quilts them. He is working on his FMQ and is getting better at his feather quilting.
I have quilted a couple of quilts on my machine, I love getting one done from start to finish. All of them have been done with little swirls, I love that pattern but would love to branch out to feathers one day!!
I am a longarmer since 1997. I STILL do not have fancy feathers down. I would love to take this class. However, even with the discount I just can’t afford it. Thank you Maddie for EVERYTHING you do to help us learn!
2020 was a year that should have gone to hell but it came from there so I donāt know how that works. My husband went through three months of daily radiation to fight aggressive cancer only to have to self isolate starting the week he was done. To take his mind off his woes I taught him to long arm quilt the quilts he pieced while recovering from a heart attack April Foolās Day 2019. He was invited to display his quilts in a socially distanced quilt show in June(a few days after he cut part of his thumb off!). He even did the binding on twelve quilts he displayed. Havenāt found a good name for him as man quilter is overused and Pool boy leads to other connotations. Had it not been for Glide thread he wouldnāt have done it-not one break or loopdaloops on the 20 plus quilts he has long armed! It is the best thread ever!
I am a total beginner at quilting, I would like to learn. I’ve been sewing and doing machine embroidery for about 4 years and I really enjoy it. I would love to win the Glide thread kit, I love that thread. Thank you for this opportunity Maddie.
I can only imagine
I love free motion quilting on my Longarm and I use glide thread. Love these colorsš
I am not sure if I answered this question? Sucks when you lose your mind! lol I started using templates on my domestic with little success because I suck at it. I love doing feathers freehand though and I need more practice of course. I have trouble wrestling my quilt through the machine because I’ve had surgery on my left hand 4 times. I’m trying to find a way to do it easier! I would love to own a longarm (my dream!).
Just time is holding me up. I hand quilt. But machine piece. Thread is beautiful
I would like to learn more about quilting.
Especially, quilting using feather or other motifs.
I have been quilting form 15 years but I have not been able to master feathers. That is a dream I am still working on. Having the thread would be wonderful. Thank you for what you do fir quilting.
I am a beginner FMQ, getting more confident with meandering and swirls. Hope to someday do beautiful feathers!
My long arm quilting is mostly computer done these days. I have done freehand for years before getting the computer but really didnāt get really good at feathers. I admire the girls who do beautiful custom freehand.
I free motion quilt and it is ok. Definitely need more practice. I haven’t tried feathers yet. Bethanne is a real artist and a great teacher.
I do in the ditch or simple stippling quilting.
I can do real basic quilting. Not anything fancy.
Would love to be the proud owner of these beautiful color, been quilting for a while but still a beginner in my eyes
Iām very much a beginning quilter. Looking to change that in 2021!
My quilting isnāt anything fancy…guess you could call it plain ordinary. I canāt do fancy feathers or anything of the sort..donāt think I have the confidence to do it..Iād be scared Iād ruin the quiltšThanks for the chance to win these beauties..good luck everyone & Merry Christmasš
Just beginning to longarm quilting journey. This would be a great addition.
I quilt by hand on a wooden frame. I am 67 years old I have been hand quilting for about 40 years. I raised 6 children with my now deceased husband
I have not learned anything fancy. I guess Iām afraid Iāll ruin my project. š©
I won’t say my feathers are fantastic, but they are coming along with lots of practice! This Glide thread would make them even more beautiful!
I don’t like marking quilts for quilting. I would rather free motion quilt. But I’m never sure how to fill space creatively.
I would love to try glide thread, and those gorgeous colors would allow me to be more creative!
Still cherish my first quilt, a log cabin!
The glide threads have such amazing colors.
I still have a lot to learn in my quilting skills. This thread would be great for all my practice!
Iām getting better at free-motion quilting. Iām not a beginner but Iām not really good. Iām improving. I probably use my long arm twice monthly. So not enough practice.
Working hard at hand Leung all that fabric on a domestic machine.
