Ah blue pen… how I love hate are terrified of thee… but I need you so!
Anybody else in this boat? You need to mark a quilt either a little or a lot and chalk or pencil will not do the trick so your turn to the blue pen of {possible} death.
The whole time I am using it I am worrying that it will not come out and if it comes out at first it might rise back to the surface at anytime there after like an old and less than memorable boyfriend or ex-husband.
With all those fears in mind I was really excited when I learned of Blue Line Eraser Liquid- in fact I might have danced a bit, but there were no cameras so no proof !
While some people have had no problems with their blue pen markings you don’t have to ask very far to hear a tragic story of a quilt top left in a hot car or someone losing their mind and ironing over their blue pen markings making them more permanent and upsetting than a tattoo obtained during a drunken holiday in the islands.
Many people also have secret formulas handed down from quilter to quilter during the dark of night and only after the official quilters fit bump and hi-sign have been established .. with some of these working really well but others being a bit dependent on the water type used. ( I have hard, grumpy water- it does not like to play nice in these situations)
So while not the only way to get rid of blue pen markings for good I am thrilled to know that there is a consistent product that I can reach for when I need to make-gone my blue marks!
The owner of Blue Line Eraser was so kind as to send not only a spray bottle for me to try out but also possibly my favorite part – the easy pen style applicator!
Sometimes I mark and then decide to change things up. In these cases I don’t want to spray the whole area. I just want to remove the areas that need to be changed. With the refillable pen applicator even the smallest areas are easy to erase and dry quickly so that I can remark and get back to quilting!
I put both the pen and the liquid through their paces and have so far been thrilled to pieces.
I only had two types of blue pen on hand but even went so far as to iron the snot out of my samples.
And don’t think that did not make me mildly queasy… the thing I have avoided doing with every part of my being and there I was ironing for a full 3 minutes! But like a charm just a couple of sprays of the Blue Line Eraser and everything was back to white.. not a trace of blue in sight.
I left all samples to sit and air dry without a bit of haunting- I am thrilled!

Could you tell me if this would take out emberiodery lines for quilting which have gotten old before I finished them and won’t come out by rinsing them. Thank you
I am ready to quilt a Dear Jane quilt and am terrified to mark it. I need this product!, thanks for the chance to win it.
This giveaway is now closed with 90 comments! 🙂 Good luck to everyone!
Sounds awesome! Don’t have a lot of experience yet, but good to know for future reference! Thanks!
I would love some please. As it will ages before it turns up here in NZ. If I miss out. Cand you send me a link or address to get some sent over here. Please.
I would love to try them…always been scared to mark a customer quilt with them.. Would love to give them try if I had the chance!
Just bought a couple of markers and they are not what I’d like them to be, :(. Anxious to give these a try!
Another nightmare story. I used a blue marker on a red/white feathered star quilt to mark my feathers. Used a spritz bottle with water and baking soda to remove the marks…looked good! Quilt sat for a few months and was juried into the Houston show. Woohoo! Got ready to send the quilt and the white was no longer white but almost tea-dye color. Bad reaction to baking soda? Washed the quilt and then it bled red onto the white…not a fun few days for me as I tried to get my beautiful feathered star white again. Very curious to try this new product.
Maddie, pick me, pick me! 😉
One of my sewing buddies accidentally ironed over his blue pen (he is a rookie) and I would LOVE to try this out on his quilt! And, of course, on any FUTURE mistakes that happen in my studio!
Trish
Ps…don’t ya just love how saying STUDIO instead of ‘sewing room’ makes it seem so much more important!?
Would love to give it a try!
Love to mark with blue pens!…Don’t like the anxiety that comes with removing the blue pen marks. Hopefully I will get to try this out with your giveaway!… Thanks for all of your reviews!!
I tried this stuff on a client’s ancient quilt, where she had marked the quilting lines ages ago. They came right out and I got no “backwash” appearing later on. I’m hoping the marks are gone for good. I won’t know for sure because the quilt has gone back to its owner.
I saw your marks with the blue pen – and the amazing quilting you did along those lines…and thought I ought to try…but, yeah…it was scary to think of the marks coming back! I think with the eraser stuff – I might get braver:-)
I SO want to try this new product and prove people wrong!! So many people are convinced that NOTHING will take it out. I’m a longarm quilter and this would be FABULOUS to have in my tool kit!
OK, ok…I’ll try it!! 😉
I needs new marking system! My current one is iffy at best. Thanks for the drawing!
I’ve always been a little scared of blue markers, but I think its time to give them a try!
I want to try it too! It looks pretty cool!
I can’t find one to buy. I needed!!!
Aw, the blue pen. Just like the blue suede shoes, I was prepared to never have one! Maybe now I can add it to the blue collection….Blues Brothers, bluebells, R & B, blue moon, etc……..
YUP- have a horror story. Back when I was teaching myself to quilt- no instructor or friend to guide me, and the package for the blue marker says nothing about keeping an iron away from it. The quilt I make for my daughter still has the lines on it to this day! After that, I went with a regular pencil or ink pen, because I knew I could wash those out. I will have to try this eraser and see if it gets out old, washed and worn lines that stuck.
Would love to try this! I use white chalk whenever I can. I have used the blue pens on customer quilts, but hold my breath when I do it!
Would love to use my blue pen more but am always aware (scared) that the marks might come back. Does this also work on the air erasable pens?
I’m just getting more confident in picking up that blue pen, but those horror stories to get into your head like an urban legend.
Since I now know about this liquid, I’ll use my blue pen more often… I always feared to use this stuff on my quilts because I didn’t know if or when it would come back so it only got used on those quilts that were supposed to be washed afterwards…
I think I’ll have to give this stuff a try real soon!
I just don’t do any marking because I’ve had such horrible experiences with everything from pens to pencils to soapstone to chalk. I might have to break down and try again!
Blue pen of horrors. I will use it only as a last resort and only the fine line one. I have been known to use an entire 32 ounce spray bottle of water to make the pesky marks to disappear only to show back up the next day I have even watched with amazement to their reappearing right before my very eyes!
I would mark mine alot more with the blue pen if I had this remover!! Thanks for all the
Testing you do of new products and the great giveaways! Maybe one day I’ll win!
I, too, have been too afraid to use the blue pen for quilting. I have used one once for centering an embroidery design. I found the Frixion pens and have used them for piecing. I am still working on a large quilt with my purple Frixion. I guess we will see if it comes out & stays out. Blimey, I would like to try something else!
I have 2 blue pens and 1purple I’m scared to use it
I am terrified of using those blue pens for fear they will ruin another project!!! I have one again but can’t bring myself to use it…especially on a customer’s quilt.
I would love to win the Blue Line Eraser but I will most likely order some because blue marks in or on quilts does not put me into a Happy Dance frame of mind. BTW, I can not dance but wish I could, sometimes. I have only had one blue mark mess, the blue marks did not come out right away on a raffle quilt for my friend’s church…yikes! I did get the marks out, but it was not a good experience.
I have not used Blue Line Eraser, but I sure would like to give it a try! I am sick of chalk you can’t see and pens that don’t have even ink flow. Help a girl out!
I use those blue pens all the time. I’m nervous about them but what the heck. Enter me in the giveaway. I’d love to try the remedy.
🙂 Yuki
This blue stuff terrifies me- but I’d love to try it. Not sure if I could breathe while using it, though. And I can’t hold my breath very long!
I have not tried this blue pen, but have used other air soluable pens and found them mostly good. I have never had marks that did not come off. Would love to try this and thanks for the give away.
Maddie-
I have never actually tried a blue pen- I use a sewline pencil with different color leads but I have thought about getting one. I was not sure I actually wanted to chance it since I heard the horror stories too- but with a reliable eraser?! Shoot yeah. Sign me up!
I had not seen this product yet. How wonderful! I, too, try to avoid touching my blue marker with the iron in dread of never seeing it go away.
I would love to give this a try! I’ve only used blue markers on my personal quilts…never on a clients quilt. It would be great to have the blue marker as a viable option!!
I would love to win this product. I just became aware of it today and was looking around online for reviews. Thanks!
Looks like a dream come true!
With water the blue lines take repeated applications. I’m always afraid that there is residual blue on the batting that will haunt me later. This sounds like the solution to both of these problems. I would love to be the winner of this giveaway. You are more than generous, thank you!!!
Oh!Oh!Oh! I need me some of this. I’m marking all the time with the mark-be-gone. I didn’t know this product existed.
