So a few weeks ago I showed off what a total disaster my studio area is… and I can’t say that it has gotten any better given the birth of my itty-bitty new grandbaby as well as work time and other general life shenanigans. But that doesn’t mean I have not been dreaming and scheming about how I want my space to function and feel.
I am using my Pinterest board to make the most of what I want, collecting images, projects and dream rooms to use as a springboard to my own happy place.

What most people might be surprised about is the the fact that I am VERY girly. I love pink and blue and vintage. I love quirky, old metal and salvaged treasures. I collect vintage valentines, little Golden Books as well as pretty bits and bobs of all sorts. A minimalist when it comes to sewing and crafting I am not! This means I need a lot of storage and am not above stopping mid street to pick up a cool old dresser or dumpster diving for an amazing find if need be. Did I also mention I am sort of frugal?
In any case as I make progress i will be capturing it here on the blog.

and of course on Instagram ( below)
If you would like to follow along with the adventure join me in any of these places. I would love to have you along for the ride!
So tell me, is a sewing room re-do in your future and if so what challenges are you encountering to make it happen?

My husband and I swapped spaces last year and the room I got is painted entirely in a dark ‘Bat Cave’ grey. I want to re-paint a couple of the walls to brighten it up, re-do the baseboards, paint the light fixture, paint the hutch and bookcase, bring in more shelving, etc. You know, just a couple of changes 😉
As my kids got older, we turned the basement play room into MY play room- I got to style it from scratch, and never before have I been quite as grateful for the Ikea not 10 minutes from my house…
I see that you are a big fan of artist Cori Dantini. I am too! Just love her whimsical characters and I just made a quilt using her “Makers” fabric.
I would just love to organize my craft room. I am a maker, so I have lots of different interests and the tools to go with them; paper, paints, fabric, etc. And many unfinished projects! Hoping to dig myself out one of these days…
Biggest challenge–my adult daughter is moving home for awhile, and will probably need to live in my sewing room/office! On the plus side, she has lived far away for a long, long, time, so I’m looking forward to it. But I was JUST starting to figure out what kinds of changes I want to make! Guess they will wait awhile. . . .
We are moving into a new / old house with a new addition which means a very large basement room for my sewing room FROM SCRATCH! So it will definitely be the room of my dreams laid out exactly how I want, with extra stations for guests or non sewing work.
I have a Sewing Room pinboard here – https://www.pinterest.com/andrea_r/sewing-rooms/
It may take a while to get completely finished, but it will be in heavy use for years.
I’m working right along side you! In December, last year, after nearly two years, all my “stuff” (read quilting/knitting/other craft supplies) arrived in the USA from Australia. My new space looks like a whirl wind has gone through it. My quilting fabrics and yarn are all sorted into tubs. Not so for the rest!
I am itching to redo my sewing room. It has pretty modern furniture/storage right now and I would like to do the shabby – chic thing. I may have to add pieces gradually. And, I love green, pink and turquoise, LOL.
I am trying to fit in time for an overhaul of my space. My sweet 87-yo father just made me the most amazing work tables with loads of storage. When in place, they’ll host nearly 11 running feet of work surface, all with storage beneath. And…he made them just for ME. So, yeah, I am motivated to get the disaster zone under control!
Well if all goes to plan I may have a finished basement studio in my future and have ideas in mind which kind of March yours. I bought two rolls if wallpaper back in the UK in 2014 that I’ve been hoarding just for such an event too. Look forward to seeing how yours develops!
