And share this post to increase the fun!!!

Being a BadAss Quilter to me means doing what I love, sharing my passion with others and helping fellow quilters become BadAss themselves. Currently I don’t use die cuts in my quilting.
I will be following to see if I am worthy to be a BAQ! Since I just heard of you, I think I might since I am doing the quilting thing on my own terms and as it pleases me. I never tried the accu-cut way, but when I did BOM’s I did better when they cut the pieces for me already…need all the help I can get! This is a mind-blowing giveaway! Best of luck on your new goal being met of 8,000 followers! including me!
I try to be a BAQ by being willing to learn from all types of quilters; by trying to be the best I can be, but also avoiding the trap of perfectionism; and by allowing my own personal style to show in everything I do.
I haven’t used a die-cutter before, at least not with fabric. (I used to be a school librarian and used a paper die-cutter there. It was FUN!)
Im a BAQ because I make mistakes and just roll with it…no traditional here 🙂 I just got a Big Shot my anniversary, woot woot!
To me, BadAss means that there are no rules and if there were, I wouldn’t keep them anyway, at least when it comes to quilting. I have been using my die cutter for years, but not as much as in the last couple years. I use it mostly for shapes that are more challenging to rotary cut, hexies, applecore, circles, etc.
I love being BadAss.
Wow! What a giveaway!
BAQ means not listening to quilt police or even making quilts the traditional way, but rather doing what I like, in the fabrics and colors of my choice, in the way that pleases me most – to heck with what anyone thinks! Luckily, all my feedback has been positive. :-). There are so many people in my life I would love to make quilts for, but I have not enough $$$ or time.
I have a GO cutter and use it upon occasion – especially for those 1.5 and 2.5 strips. Very handy.
I like to think I’m a BadAss Quilter because I don’t like to follow a pattern or the rules. I don’t use die-cuts because they are too precise for me. Even charm squares are pushing it!
Being a BAQ means not saying ‘oh i could never do that’, being willing to try new things, enjoying what I’ve already learned, and ordering flame decals for my sewing machine!
I am a BAQ because I actually throw all threads and scraps on my floor and feel like such a rebel doing it! Once in a while, when the mood hits me, I sweep or vacuum to tidy up but hell, it is my space so
i am a Badass Quilter because I quilt what I love and makes me happy. If you enjoy it too, then all the better!
Fmq is an expression of ourselves. Not everyone will like what we do. Oh well, their loss. I currently do not use die cut.
I am not currently using die cut for quilting but would love to try it! Being a BAQ means giving a part of myself to each person that has one of my quilts.
Of course, I’m a BA Quilter! I’m not a traditional quilter nor have I ever enjoyed doing the traditional. I like to think outside the box and embellish with a flourish. I look forward to doing die cutting to compliment my quilts someday soon. I have found my biggest mistakes are usually my most unusual quilts that I end up enjoying more than I thought possible.
Being a Bass-Ass Quilter means letting the creativity flow! I have not used die cuts recently but I did, quite a few years back, (maybe 25?) die cut some butterflies to applique onto a challenge quilt, with the die cut machine at my children’s school. That was long before they were in common use for quilting. That wall hanging is still one of my favorite pieces!
Being a bad-ass quilter means doing your own thing with no regard for what others think. I’ve been one without saying so, as I sometimes do contemporary art quilts and other times go traditional. Who cares? They’re all my art!
Definitely a BadAss Quilter…..I love feeling and working with the beautiful fabric. Have not tried die cast cutting but it sounds totally badass!
I am a bad as quilter because I have learned to “think outside the quilting box” and I do not worry about the “quilting Police”. My quilts from design to fabrics are just “me”, what i love. I have never worked with die cuts.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means not giving up. Okay maybe putting something aside for a bit or walking away but you know you have to go back. Trying new things isn’t always easy but you know in the end you will earn new knowledge and be even a further Bad Ass Quilter. Thanks for hosting the giveaway
To me, being a BadAss Quilter mean constantly learning new techniques and trying something different. Have not used any die cuts but I will when I win the prize!!! Thanks for the chance to win. Sounds exciting.
To me, being a Bad Ass Quilter means quilting each and every day, or at least trying to. I’ll never get to excellent, and that’s what I want to be, if I don’t practice a lot! It also means not worrying about the quilt police but doing things my way.
I love being a badass quilter, because let’s face it, being a quilter is just bad ass!!
I’m afraid I cut everything out by hand still! 🙂
Being a BadAss quilter…guess I spend more time creating in my creativity chamber than cooking and cleaning! I have tried some die cutting for some hot pads and pillow cases but haven’t tried it for an entire quilt yet. Winning would be an awesome after Christmas surprise!
Everyone who quilts is ‘BadAss’! We’re a unique collection of people who share the love of creating something both beautiful and useful, doesn’t get any more basic than that 🙂 No apologies given. I have not yet used laser cut appliques, although I do have some I purchased in my stash and plan to use them after the holiday rush is in the rear view mirror.
Being a BadAss Quilter means that i can make my own rules apply to every quilt I make. I can change those rules as the quilt progresses to get the result I want. I do not use die cuts at this time but would love to give on a try. I think that one would be a great way to clean up all those leftover pieces of fabric that I have in baskets to “use someday”.
I love the creativity associated with quilting. I consider myself a BAQ. I absolutely love all aspects involved in the process. I have a Studio cutter and I do love die cutting.
I am a BAQ, I make up my own rules. The main rule is “there are no rules!” Have fun, enjoy the ride.
Yes I began using some die cuts in my quilting to preserve my hands so I will be able to create for another twenty years.
Being a Badness Quilter has allowed me to keep my sanity and my blood pressure normal (or as close to normal as possible) while dealing with Social Services over the custody of our granddaughter. Our lives were suddenly uprooted from a leisurely retired existence in New Mexico to that of full time parents to an energetic four-year-old in North Dakota almost over night. For me, it meant becoming a first-time mother at the age of 69. In the midst of the turmoil, my husband’s cousin decided it was time for my first quilting lesson. I have admired her work for years and even though I wasn’t confident in my abilities, I thought she needed the distraction from the chemo treatments she was enduring at the time.
Long story short; our granddaughter is now a happy seven-year-old living with her Daddy who finally won full custody, my husband and I are in the process of moving back to New Mexico for a warm winter, and I am a totally addicted quilter.
I thank God every day for the blessings of my husband and the family he brought into my life and for the many riches that family has provided – quilting being right at the top of the list with that beautiful granddaughter.
I love using die cuts for my applique pieces. A machine of my own is on my wish list for some time in the future after our move is finished and the house we had to get in ND is sold.
Being badass to me means not succumbing to others quilty “rules”. I quilt what makes me happy. There should be no rules! And if you don’t like what I make, that’s ok by me! I do not use dies in my quilty life – YET!
I am a BAQ because I have too many quilts to finish in time. but the journey is worth it. Sew Peacefully no matter what.
Being a bad as quilter would be awesome with th ed future projects. I do not have die cuts.
i love quilting, I enjoy the look when the person recive them.
Making a quilt is like doing a puzzle
A BA quilter goes on field trips to quilt shops and retreats with quilt friends.
I haven’t used die cuts … yet, but my mantra is “… miles to go before I sleep.”
Being a bad ass quilter means making things people don’t expect quilters to make. Cool stuff. And no die cutting machine in use in my house…yet? Fingers crossed!
Learning to quilt during the “Quilt Police” era was very stressful for me…..Never felt like I was doing it “Right” or was “Good Enough”. Thankfully Badass Quilters came along and set me straight! I feel it’s ok to be free to be me! Thank you all for that!
I do use a die cutter occasionally but, frankly, I enjoy cutting my fabric by hand!
Thanks Mattie for your BadAss Attitude!!
A newbie quilter so I haven’t used dies. Would love to try them though. Hoping to become a true Badass Quilter.
I am a Harley ridding BAQ I am using die cuts and learning as I go
For me being a BAQ means not following all the rules set out by the “experts” and, look at that, my quilts turn out anyhow! 🙂 I have never used die cuts (yet).
I am not “officially” a BAQ but would like to be. I have been quilting for over 30 years and have evolved over the years from traditional to semi-art quilts. I still do traditional quilts but with my own “twist”. Just starting to get into the modern quilts and a little of the art quilts. I’m like a sponge, in that I want to try a little of it all and see which I like best. I just found your post on Facebook and now will follow your blog. Thank you for the chance to possibly win some of those goodies!!!!!
Being a BAQ means jumping into to new things with no fear!! Also, owning your mistakes and quirks as a quilter!!! The only dies I use are the drunkard path ones. I don’t trust myself to cut curves!
I am a BAQ in that I try all/lots of techniques and attend classes for growth. I love to get others into quilting and helping them get a good start on their journey too.
I feel like a badass quilter when I can make gifts tailored perfectly to the special people in my life! I don’t currently use die cuts but will immediately google it!
Being a BAQ means quilting to the tune of my own drummer. No worrying about the quilt police for me. My rules, my way. I do have a fabric die cutter and I use it frequently.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means being able to use any fabric regardless of designer and any designs and colors together because that’s what looks good! Mixin it up with modern and traditional, taking classes online and in the classroom. I get to sew my Bad Ass Quilts every week! I got a Bad Ass Quilting Buddy! Love it! Love this site!
Being a Badass quilter means enjoying the journey! I make quilts for family and friends and charity! I enjoy giving the finished project and seeing the joy on people’s faces . An even better feeling is when I can teach someone how to quilt. That’s the best because I know that I will have made it possible for quilting to continue to grow . So spread the Joy !
I have been a bad ass quilter for years, and never knew it! this feels like coming home. I don’t use a die cutter and, though I’ve been tempted, will probably never use one. I like the funkiness of free form forms.
Being a BadAss quilter means quiltig when I want, what I want, how I want. After all, this is my hobby, my way to relax. I don’t judge. I haven’t used a die cutter. I sure could use one though, I can’t cut a straight line with two rulers to save my life! Lol congrats and thanks for the great giveaway. vickise at gmail dot com
i love quilting and just started about two years ago. I love to change patterns up to make them fit how the quilt changes as you put it together. No die cutting here. Thanks for this awesome giveaway!
My Granny taught me the love of sewing. She could, and did, anything with her needle and sewing machine. She didn’t realize it, but she was the very definition of a Bad Ass Quilter and she passed that on to me! Thank you Granny!! Her spirit is always with me when I sew. (Sometimes she is a little bossy:)
Quilting, and sewing in general is a way I can express my sense of color, style, and slant of imagination. You can start out with a “traditional style”, and turn it on its head with choice of color, pattern combinations and threads.
I have never used a dye cutter, manual or electric, but I would love to!!
Thank you for the opportunity to enter your contest, all of the prises are amazing!
One entry for me (cone hats do nothing for my hair)!!!
Don’t forget to leave cookies for the Great Elf!
Chris
P.S. In reading the comments of the other women and men, it appears you will have a task ahead of you. They all sound like awsome, fun, and creative Bad Asses that I would like to know!
I’ve been a quilter for about 15 years, but have just recently become a BadAss–I quilt whatever I want, whenever I want. I love to try new things, but I’ve never tried a die cut machine.
I don’t use a die cut system because I don’t have one, but if I had one, I would use it for sure. Being a Bad Ass Quilter means that I make things I like and make them the way I want them to be, and have fun doing it!
I’ve always hated sewing but then found I love quilting! Let’s face it. You can never have too big or too small of a quilt but translate that to a dress and it’s a disaster!
Quilting has captured my heart with the beautiful colors and textures. Anything goes and no quilt police allowed!
I’ve dipped a toe in the die cutting pool and have some ideas for more.
