I have always loved to create… cards, scrapbooks, crochet, cross stitch and two years ago added quilting to the mix. Love it…and the “sharing aspect” of being a BAQ! It is very satisfying to give a quilted gift. I recently blended some of the die-cuts used in my other hobbies with quilting and used a die-cutting machine to make Christmas shapes. Merry Christmas, with all the best for a happy, healthy and quilty New Year!
Being a bad ass quilter means making what I love. I try not to worry about what other people are doing or if I’m using the right techniques and just create for the love of it. I do not currently use die cutting but I would love to try it! Thanks for the amazing giveaway!!
I love trying new quilt patterns and learn new ways to quilt..and the joy it gives to friends when I give them away.
Create, thats why I am a badass quilter, I cut, piece, sew, quilt and bind. My way, my choices.
I use the Accuquilt Go to make use of my scraps, nothing goes to waste. Glad I found this website.
Being a BadAss Quilter means I do it my way my rules my ideas and why the hell not! It makes me happy! I have not uses die cuts. I would love to try it out!
What it means to be a Bad Ass Quilter??? Trying new techniques & conquering them and not worrying about little mistakes because they are your signature which makes your quilt unique!
Oops forgot to answer about diecuts & systems…Haven’t tried them yet but would love too give it a shot!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter is the most important thing for me. I have horrible chronic back pain and quilting helps me by being a distraction and letting me be creative to and feel like I am getting something done. it calms me and gives me some self worth and I am pretty good at it. I have not tried die cutting yet but would love to.
Being a BAQ means taking on a challenge square in the face and just getting ‘er done! No fear here. Right or wrong, it’s mine! Yep, BAQ. No, I don’t use any die cuts in my quilting, but it certainly would free up some time! Happy Holidays, Ho! Ho! Ho!
I’m a BAQ ’cause I try harder and fail more than anyone I know. But I keep trying. No little cut-outs here. I don’t mind the cutting.
I am a Bad Ass Quilter and I do use a die-cutter. I love doing whatever comes to mind. Sometimes it works and other times it is just not exactly what I thought. But I did it!!!
Being a BadAss Quilter to me is doing your quilts YOUR way and ignoring the people who tell you that you must do it differently. It is speaking with your own voice and enjoying the process and the results. It is laughing at your mistakes and then not being ashamed to show them. It is also taking those mistakes and making them fabulous finishes.
I have a die cutter and I do use it when I feel the need for it. Since my rotary skills have improved that is less than when I first got it.
Quilting, to me, is my own expression of perfection! Have a Go Baby, but havenot used it yet. I did use my eclipse I a recent quilt challenge to cut out an Amish buggy and horse!
Would love to have prizes
I love to quilt and being able to try new things and read about new things and have fabric stashed and all kinds of threads to pick from and blogs to learn from and yes, I do use a die cut machine to cut out shapes and words for embellishing.
being a Badass Quilter is about taking risks and doing new things. It’s also about accomplishing great things no matter if you’re the only one that likes them. I dod use a Accuquilt in my quilting and I love it — it started as a tool to quickly process scraps and has become one of those things that is pushing me to try new things like clams and machine pieced hexis
No, I have never used a die cut thinggie, but they look pretty cool…and I don’t play by the rules so I think that entitles me to be a bad ass quilter and I think I like that title -makes me feel empowered!
Being a badass quilter to me means being able to create whatever I want with the freedom to experiment and play. Sometimes you’ll be surprised at what comes out of that. It also means quilting for others – not as in a business but quilting charity quilts as part of a guild or quilting small quilts for NICU. But above all – expressing who I am through fabric and creativity. I do not currently use die cuts.
Being a Badass quilter means I don’t have to worry about the quilt police! I can create as I please without rules!
I probably have always been a BAQ – one of these “let me do it myself” people who shuns quilt patterns and other people’s ways of doing things. Yes, I have taken classes from a number of well-known quilters but solely for the purpose of learning new skills to enable me to veer off in whatever direction I want to go.
Fantastic giveaway!!
thanks!
being a BAQ means I have absolutely no fear of colour when it comes to piecing a quilt! All colours are welcome!
I have used a die cut, but not very often.
Thanks for this amazing giveaway.
I feel like a bad ass quilter when I get something done!
Never used a die cut machine.
Being a BadAss…having the adventurous spirit to try new things, experiment, make the quilt your own…but also being able to turn out a gorgeous traditional quilt with pride in the craftsmanship and connection to our roots.
I’m not using diecuts right now, though trying them out is on the list (after about half a dozen existing projects are completed…)
I think being a BA QUILTER is just being true to yourself and doing what you love for the people you love. I don’t use a die cutter only because I do t currently own one. But it is on my Christmas list.
BAQ is inspirational and positively the most fun to feel free to make what I like. I do not have any die cutting tools..just basics. But I am OK with that..not doubting my abilities or criticizing myself.
BAQ – well I have never thought of myself as this but I think that I am just that! I know that friends and loved ones appreciate my quilting efforts and that is all that matters to me! I have not had the chance to own or use a cutting machine, but I think that it would help cut down the time from cutting to sewing, and I am all for that!
Thank You!
Being a BadAss Quilter means think outside the BLOCK! Used the fundamentals and rules to guide you but not to constrained you. HECK create you own rules if you want! Most important is to have FUN.
I don’t use die-cutting right now. Storage space for it is my biggest problem I may have to give up my kids for adoption to make room for it and my ever growing fabric collection…wait maybe I will give up my husband for adoption…..
Happy Holiday!
When I tell my family to deal with something themselves, whether it be making themselves something to eat, ironing something to wear at the last minute, running to the store for an item they have to have right now, or “Come on to bed, it’s late”… I am empowered as a Bad-Ass Quilter! Tackling difficult patterns or quilting techniques/classes is nothing compared to teaching my family that time pursuing my quilting passion deserves their respect and encouragement. And, of course I use dies to cut out quilt pieces…for applique, piecing, & even entire quilts. It was a natural transition from using die-cutters to scrapbook. Love, love, love Ebony Love’s EDeN system with frequently updated charts telling which dies to use instead of following rotary cutting instructions. Thanks for the GREAT prizes offered in this giveaway. You & the vendors donating them are awesome!
As a BAQ, I pick my own fabrics/colors despite what the pattern calls for and I make up my own patterns the way I like them, even if that means ignoring the quilting “rules”. I have Sissix dies, but haven’t used them much in my quilting. I also have a cutting machine that is fairly new but hope to use in my appliqué quilts.
Just found this site- LOVE IT!! Being a BAQ to me is jumping in trusting your gut and quilt like crazy!
I do not currently have a die- cutting system.
Thanks for the giveaway!!
Being a BAQ means you’re not afraid to take turn off the beaten path. Explore! Create! Enjoy!
I’ve never used a die cutter, but would love to try. I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome and eventually my wrists are going to hate rotary cutting. We shall see what adventure awaits me then.
Doing it my way – no quilt police and just having a grand time. Have used some dies but mostly for applique
I do not use die cut; I’m a bad ass quilted because I do what I want when I want, I never sell my quilts or my quilting service, I’ve refused. My quilts are quilts of love, and folks I really really like get on my list as well as folks I love.
Being a bad-ass quilter to me, is being a rebel and quilting how I want, when I want, with whom I want, with what I want, and using whatever process I want – I have zero regard for the quilt police! I quilt for fun, for me, and if you like it fantastic. That encourages me and spawns me on. If you don’t like it, that’s just too damn bad for you, because it wasn’t made for you anyway. If I don’t like it though, lol, all heck breaks loose and there’s no telling how I might deal with it.
I haven’t used die cutting in my quilting as of yet because unfortunately for me, money is a huge factor. I can’t waste even a little – and for the money, I would have to buy fabric instead. But I’d love to be able to; when I use standard piecing parts in a quilt.
I love being a bandanas quilter. When someone receives a quilt they are receiving a piece of me. It allows my soul to create something beautiful in this world.
I am a badass quilter want to be. My job gets in the way of being able to do much at this point, but I am getting back into quilting little at a time, and can just feel the excitement as I look at all of the gorgeous materials out there!! As for the Cutter…sigh, it is a little out of my price range right now, because I am trying to upgrade my machine, but when I look at all of the wonderful dies you can get I realize it will probably be my next big purchase! Thanks everyone for sharing!
Love your name! I think if you have a love of quilting you are a BAQ. I have thought about using dies in my quilting but have not done so yet. Still learning this craft 🙂
Being a Badass quilter means not worrying about where or when or how I accomplish it. It means remembering that I don’t have to follow every “rule” or instruction and that is written on the page. As for die cutting, I have used manual die cutting for cutting 2″ squares from my scraps– in bulk for a few projects. It cleaned up my small scraps and enabled me to make a couple of quilts that I might not have otherwise. I have been using computerized die cutting for some more intricate applique projects.
May not be a BAD ASS QUILTER, but sure do love quilting! Aurifil is my favorite thread?
hmmm… Bad Ass Quilter. I’m a bad ass quilter because I’m in the middle of making a hand pieced, hand sewn queen sized quilt and it is taking FOREVER, but I’m still going!
I’ve never used any die cuts, or even a pattern, but I’d love to give it a try! 🙂
I’m not a Bad Ass Quilter yet but I’m working on it!
I forgot to add I don’t have die fabric cutting system.
It allows me to do it my way and no I haven’t used a die-cut yet. Thanks!
I love being a badass quilter because if the crazy (Ha!) friends I have made. My addiction to fabric. My love of the craft. And mostly the fun of sharing with others. Thereis no better group of women.
I have an accuquilt Go Big
I AM A BADASS QUILTER. This year I gave away 98 quilts to charity organizations and had so many good reports of what happened to the quilts. Mostly children’s charity’s but also rescue organizations and breast cancer patients.
New to your site but love it. I do have a cutting system and wouldn’t be without it. Being a BadAss quilter means doing what you want, there are no rules. You don’t quilt for others but what is in your heart. Letting go of your creative juices and letting it flow freely.
I have just started quilting and Im loving it! And I’m a BadAss beginner! I haven’t used die cuts yet but I have seen them in use and would lobe to use them when my skills are better!
Wow, this giveaway is BadAss! I think being a BadAss quilter means you don’t need to label yourself. Just do what makes you happy and continue to explore new possibilities.
Being a BadAss quilter, I love what I do and only do what I love! I have a Baby GO! but it isn’t large enough so I don’t use it ;(
Being a badass means pushing yourself. Try something you haven’t done before and be proud of your own work. We are always our worst critics when we should be saying “yes! I made that. It took time and effort and I’m proud of it”. No I haven’t used cutting die things.
Being a bad ass quilter, to me, means always being true to yourself. Whether you’re a modern quilter or you enjoy Amish style quilting, if you’re a crazy quilter or just plain crazy, staying true to your colors and quilting style makes you bad ass. Enjoying others art and not judging other quilters on their own unique style makes you bad ass. Proudly letting others know that you’re a bad ass quilter obviously makes you bad ass. Thank you, Maddie, for creating and nurturing this amazing community of bad ass ladies and gents!
As far as die cutting, I haven’t tried it (yet).
