And share this post to increase the fun!!!

Being a BadAss Quilter means No Fear. Yeah, my quilts don’t look like your mom’s or grandmother’s. I don’t cut little cardboard templates. I don’t make granny blocks. I don’t hand quilt. I just started quilting 3 years ago and am retiring after working for 50 years making other people successful. I just bought a used long arm and upgraded it with a stitch regulator. I am going to McTavish (already have her book) and Graffiti quilt (already have Karlee’s book, too!). My rotary cutter is my best friend until my arthritis gets too bad and I have to progress to die cutting. You might not like my quilts or my handmade purses, you might say it’s not a quilt if it hangs on a wall instead of covering a bed. You might not like my definition of art or beauty. You might not even like me. But I don’t care. I’m not competing with you. I’m not you. I am going to do my own thing because I enjoy it. It makes me happy. It’s not about you. Finally, for once in my life, it’s about me.
To me, being a Bad Ass Quilter is doing things your own way, following your own creative journey/path. Make yourself happy. I have not use die cuts in my quilting as of yet.
Yes, I’m BadAss! Never follow someone else’s rules and make my own. Love following my instincts & creating in the moment.
I’ve never used die cuts, but never had the opportunity either.
To be a BAQS member means several things to me. First and foremost it creates a team of individuals who quilt what is in their own hearts and a place of encouragement to be the unique quilter each one of us can be. I love the challenge to find my own creative place and let each quilt unfold its mystery. And I agree with the philosophy to always accept and encourage the quilters we meet as we travel our quilting journeys.
I have not YET used die-cuts in my quilting, because I simply haven’t gotten there YET ~ ~ but I have ideas that are perolating ~ ~ ~ and oh, how fun it would be to win the Pot of Gold you’re collecting!!! Thank you for all you do for all of us, Maddie!!
As a big time bad ass quilter, in ready to get my big girl panties on, and party it up for the big 8000!
Although I’ve never used a die cutting machine, I’d love to give one a spin. Of course I have a bad ass big mouth to go with my mad, bad ass quilting skills so I’ll be telling everyone in town (and on the web) how fabulous it is should I win!!! Of course I wouldn’t be disappointed to win one of your other fabulous prizes either 😉
Being a Badass quilter means quilting what you like, when you like and not having to follow any rules or listen to the quilt police. Quilting what appeals to me without having to follow the colors that are “in ” but using the colors that I like. I have a Go die cut machine. Congrats on reaching 8000. WooHoo !
To me, being a BadAss Quilter means I get to use as much black fabric and bright rainbow colours as I want! I am a 25 year old guy, I already know I am breaking stereotypes of what people think quilters look like, so why not change what they think quilts look like! My mom taught me to sew when I was around 10 or 11 and around 2 years ago I started quilting. In those two years I have burnt through two domestic sewing machines so I bought a juki industrial straight stitch, and most recently I bought a Handiquilter 24 Fusion long arm quilting frame! I think you can say I have caught the quilting bug!!! I don’t have a die cutter but I have used a few appliqué kits. Quilting has taken over my life and allowed me to express a passion like I have never known!!! Winning a prize package like this would let me do so much more than I ever dreamed!
Being a badass quilter means doing things my way, whatever works for me. I don’t follow patterns exactly. I don’t wear safety gloves to rotary cut. I long arm in the gulp!- wrong direction. I put together fabrics that others would not. I am a total non conformist, but that is what makes me happy. Quilting takes away my stress after dealing with 8th graders all day. I have to play nice and follow the rules at work, so when I am quilting I make up my own rules, and I change them whenever I feel like it. It works for me.
Being BadAss means being irreverent, funny and sometimes silly. It means doing things my way and not worrying about what others think. I really love the BAQ’s. I have not tried a die cut machine for quilting, but I know it would be an amazing thing!!
So I want to be a Bad Ass Quilter – I’m new to the game. I’ve never used the dye cuts. I got started doing some simple quilting with the Row by Row experience. I love fabric and the few things I have sewn since July have been very fun. I’m pretty much sticking to smaller pieces for now. Congratulations to your Bad Ass Quilters Society. I wish I lived closer so that I could come be inspired in person at your shop. Happy Holidays to you!!!
For years, I thought that being Bad-Ass meant being “outrageously-out-there”, but the more I hang (lurk) with other BAQ, I realize that it’s just being true to myself, and doing what I like, when I like…IF I like. My world has grown being a part of BAQ…Thanks Maddie & BAQ
I am a self taught quilter and don’t go by a lot of the traditional rules. I love being a Bad Ass Quilter and having freedom to create quilts that I love.
I don’t use a die cutting system.
Being a badass quilter to me is making your own rules (or deciding there are no rules) and not worrying about into what “box” your personal style of quilting belongs.
I have not made a quilt but have made a ton of clothes. Making a quilt is first on my list to do in the new year. I plan to do it my way and not follow a pattern. That doesn’t sound like much fun. Haven’t used a die cutter. What a super terrific giveaway. Thanks
Being a badass quilter means I can create what I like and enjoy doing so! No rules! If I like it I do it! Experiment and try new techniques, share with other quilters.
I have used die cuts and loved the accuracy!
I love telling people I am a BadAss Quilter to see the reaction. They usually laugh and then I bring out my ribbon from the Chattanooga exhibition. I love the philosophy of BAQS! I’ve never used a die cutter but would love to try it. Thanks!
To be a bad assed quilter to me means to be true to yourself even if it means being outside ( on top of) the block.
Haven’t tried the die cutter
Being a Badass Quilter means that I can be exactly who I want be as a quilter with no regrets or explanation needed! Pure freedom…no Quilt Police or Quilt Divas allowed! No that’s what I’m talkin’ about!
I love be a BAQ…I do it my way and quilt for me. I have a die cutter and use it often. Thank you Maddie for all you do.
i love this website. I am a bad ass quilter trying tirelessly to change the face and perception of quilters. We are not old frumpy ladies. We are young, technology using, creative, and fearless! Let’s go badass quilters, let’s make it be cool to quilt!
Ok, I confess, even though I mentioned technology, I don’t use a cutting system right now.
Being a Bad assed Quilter means realizing that what I think is art and there are no rules! Don’t even try to tell me what is wrong with my quilt; I made it that way! Haven’t tried die cutting but I try everything with my art!!!
Ah to be badass means that all of the wild and wacky things I think of could really come to pass in my fabric fantasies, and not be laughed at or poo poo’d. It means that I belong to a group of fantastically open people who respect others and what they do.
I have gotten to borrow some dies and it has been fun to use and see how others use the die cuts. I still want to cut the ones I have apart and do on occasion just to see what they would look like that way. Sometimes it looks great!
Go Badass!!
Being a BadAss Quilter, to me, means charting your own course, making your own rules and not being fearful of what anyone else might think. It also means that you do all of that, which makes YOU, happy!!
Currently, I have an Accuquilt. I really haven’t embraced all that it has to offer except when it comes to applique- which I think, I suck at. I have about 10 dies and have used them maybe 5 times each. Waste is a huge concern to me with using it!
Being a BAQ means I can provide quilting for Project Linus!
Being a Badass Quilter to me means so many things! Quilting for joy, no quilting police, being able to recognize and rejoice in the art of quilting for all ages and join with my fellow badasses to create awesome things, no matter what shape or form or complexity our quilts take, we are all awesome and badass!
I have used the Go Baby cutter, but I had to take it home to its owner and I’m very sad.
Yay, thanks for the giveaway and for all the awesome this group brings to my life!
To me, being a BadAss Quilter is the freedom to do *whatever I want to do* with my quiltmaking. There are NO RULES! I acknowledge NO quilt police. I do what I want when I want & make no apologies about that. I also allow EVERY OTHER quilter the same freedoms with THEIR quiltmaking! It’s a big world and there is room for us all.
Being Badass means that I am part of a sewing sub-sub-culture that just gets it. Start when you want. Follow your own muse at your own pace. There is no final destination. Just keep the coffee pot on and keep the fabric coming. I have made just one quilt with a die cutting machine, and it was borrowed. Great for uniform applique.
Working on becoming a bad ass quilter as I want to expand the ideas in my head and make them a reality. I’ve used die cut pieces in a quilt but not in the way I think you mean.
I love being a BadAssquilter! I have the window sticker on my car, and get many comments on it! I love being able to say there are no rules, no wrong way to quilt do it because you love to do it & how you feel when you are quilting.
To me, being a BAQ means being fearless…. Break the rules, quilt how and what pleases me, be kind to myself and encourage others. I don’t yet use die cuts in my quilting… But would love to try!
It’s fun being 69 and wearing my Bad Ass Quilter sweatshirt! And that’s what I feel like when I quilt. I haven’t used a die cutter yet, but think it would be great!
Being a BAQ to me says I don’t let people define me, my work or yours. There is no one ‘right way’ nor is one method or type or category better than another. I accept everyone’s fabric art as offered and appreciate all the artistry, experience, and talent that went into it. Traditional, modern, machine, paper pieced, hand stitched, mini, crazy, you name it they are all quilt works and they all have meaning and value and honestly, I love them all!
Fyi I have an accuquilt go I use for some quilting.
I love being a Bad Ass quilter because I love breaking rules! I especially love breaking rules and not getting caught. Ha! I bought a die cutter but I have been so busy breaking rules I haven’t used it yet. Thank you for the give away!
Being Bad Ass is taking charge and steering clear of “it can’t be done” comments by others. I currently don’t own any cutting system. But I will when I am one of the winners. …staying positive and bad Ass always. Good luck everyone.
Bad Ass Quilting — wow, there is a kind of home for me in the world…As a nonconforming quilter I find the open window of BAQS fresh air in a stifling world. I am still learning basic traditional techniques, but my 60+ years of doing things my way means that I often develop my own take on how things go together –sometimes they pass the laundry test, sometimes they don’t. Bad Ass Quilting frees me to quilt as the muse leads. I appreciate the open welcoming group of people I can share my ideas with, ask questions of and just celebrate our mutual hobby, I have used a few die-cuts but they leave me wondering where my creativity is resting. I imagine if I owned a machine I would find out in a heartbeat!
I think I must be a Bad Ass Quilter in training. I love to see results & I am not above doing just about anything to reach my goals. There are no mistakes, just different methods for reaching goals.
Being a BadAss quilter means having full artistic license to make it the way I want- with the fabrics and colors I choose and doing it for the pure pleasure of pleasing myself. Rock on fellow quilters.
I’m a BAQ because I love all the marvelous things I’ve learned since I retired. I have a storefront workshop so all my friends can come and quilt, sew, crochet, or whatever. We also make quilts for the local hospital. So far this year, we’ve donated 213 quilts.
Love doing things my way, and doing what I love. I’ve never used a die cut in my artwork but I can see how it would come in handy doing a quilt for comfort.
Being a BadAss Quilter is to try every technique that is out there, once, lol! I have yet to use any die cuts. Congrats on the great # and thanks for the BadAss gimmie!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter, to me, means following my heart. Fabric choices, color choices, pattern design. Freedom to do it my way !! I am proud to say I am a Bad Ass Quilter
I occasionally purchase die cut pieces, but do not own any type of system.
Congrats on this stupendous achievement of 8,000 followers. Being a Bad Ass quilter means holding true to yourself. Also not being concerned that everything is perfectly done. I love quilting because it relaxes me and allows me to be creative. (Ps – I do not have die cuts – just a good old rotary cutter.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter is
Embracing all quilters and their chosen genre of quilting.
Empowering ourselves and others in the quilting industry.
Educating the masses about our Art!
Yes I have a GO! Cutter from Accuquilt and have been looking into a Sizzix! Thank you for having such a BADASS giveaway!
Being a Badass Quilter means I’m free, not tied down by “the way you should …”, “the way it’s always been done….” Or “but you have to….”.
No, I haven’t used any kind of die cutting product….but would like to.
Thanks!
BAQs are fearless we are not confined by conventional rules we are not afraid to mix traditional and modern or anything in between we think outside the box. We are fun!
I don’t die cut …yet!
Being a BadAss is a state of mind- doing what you want with confidence.
I’ve never used die cuts, but heck, why not try?
Being a Badass Quilter is embracing quilting in all its forms and sharing that joy with others.
I currently have an AccuQuilt GO and love it! Though I love Sizzix too 🙂
I love being a Bad Ass Quilter!! Anything goes & people think we are pretty special!!! I have an AccuQuilt Go & am using it to cut out a quilt on it now!!!
To me, being a BAQ is paring bold fabrics and marching to the beat of my own drum! I love observing others’ talents and learning from those around me. I have not used a die cutter but would love to try! Thanks for creating this fab community and for offering all these goodies!
being a badass quilter means doing your own thing, having a blast quilting and not letting anyone else get you down!
I haven’t used die cutting for quilts, but I’m really interested in it!
I love BAQs! I use the smaller Big Shot for paper crafting and needle felting but would put the Pro to go use cutting quilt pieces. We’re a quilting family – my sister, daughter, and niece and occasionally my mom – just a bunch of Badasses!
