Being Badass means doing what seems right to me and not worrying what the quilt police think. I don’t have a die cutter now but am considering getting one.
what a giveaway!!!
wow that’s a lot of things. Hope I win!!!
What an amazing giveaway!!!
Being a BAQ gives me so much freedom to express myself. I want to discover more about my talent and give my new found knowledge on to friends.
Bad Ass Quilters have taken the art and joy of quilting to a new level. Sometimes we use patterns. Sometimes we make it up as we go. Sometimes we keep our quilts but most times we give them away. We have so may ideas and projects in mind that the UFO’s begin to build up. That’s why we go on retreats! Plus Bad Ass Quilters have the best quilting friends with whom we can laugh, share, cry, just be ourselves.
I have not used die cuts yet but am ready to give it a try.
A badass quilter, yep that’s me…
I love all of this badassery!
Cut up your fabric and sew it together, quilting is great no matter the weather.
Some quilt alone, some quilt with friends, we all need a massage when the day ends.
We try new things and learn from each other. We give quilts made with love to our sisters and brothers.
I hope I win but even if not, congratulations BAQS and Maddie…. We are HOT!
(PS- I haven’t used a die cutter – nor can I think of a good rhyme for one- but I would live to try it!)
i think being a BadAss quilter means moving beyond traditional methods and traditional guidelines and ultimately doing whatever works best for you. and not caring if other people don’t approve. BadAss quilters share quilting with everyone, not just people who feel welcome at guilds; and support each other, rather than tearing each other down.
i’ve used a friend’s BabyGo, but that’s the extent of my die cutting experience quilting. a few years ago i saw a die cutting machine where you could design your own shapes and images using provided software, and i was super intrigued, but ultimately decided that i have too much equipment for too many hobbies, i probably shouldn’t start a new one. π i used to do a ton of vinyl applique, and i’m really curious how die cutting would work with it as well.
Love your website and have a visit to your shop on my bucket list!
To me being a bad ass quilter is not being labeled or defined by anyone’s rules, opinions, theories or genres of what quilting should be. I make quilts that I love and that will keep my family and friends warm and cozy. I have not yet ventured into die cutting yet but I’m anxious to see where using a die cutter will lead me.
I love badassquilting! I nearly didn’t continue with learning to quilt as there were too many snearing looks and people who think it is impossible to learn without formal classes in traditional patchwork. Being an introvert it is not easy for me to join classes. I would simply be over the moon to win Thanks Maddie & Faun.
Mt friends have laughed at me when they saw on my Facebook I loked the Badass Quilter’s Society, and then they looked at mine and your work ladies. Of course we are so badass they all want a piece of our work! I love fabric, love quilting and love all things creative with fiber. We are Badass and we Unite! Go go Badass Quilters!
Being a bad ass quilter means following my passion without giving a flip about what others are doing or what others think. It’s also about being so cool and self assured, that you can appreciate ever one else’s work too.
Never used die cuts, but ready to start.
Keep on with your bad ass self!
Being a BAQ’er means that I can make whatever I want whenever the spirit moves me. I still consider myself a beginner quilter who makes a lot of mistakes but I get to say “Everything is made with a lot of Love!” π I’ve not used any die cuts though it does look tempting. I will say I’m curious enough to learn and use it in my next project.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means I get to make things I love, even if other people don’t! And it’s the best feeling when I impress myself! lol And no I have never used a die cutter.
Being a BadAss quilter to me means, creating what you love just to see the smile on other’s faces when they receive that as a gift. No I do not have a fabric cutter.
Being a bad ass quilter means that I am an artist using fabric as my paint and I love it. I dont have a die cut machine. Would love to have one.
Love your Facebook postings!
Being a BAQ means not worrying about what anybody says about my quilting. If I want to machine sew my binding, so be it. If I want to machine piece a simple quilt, I’ll do that too. I’m not into one-upsmanship. If what ever I’m making makes me happy, then that’s all that matters. I’ve never used a die-cutter, but would if I had one π
I have been a bad ass quilter from the beginning. My second block I ever made was a paper pieced mariner’s compass LOL. I have tried many techniques, MY way, even after I was told it couldn’t be done. Well…. guess what? it worked π I love what ya’ll do and thank you for this opportunity! No die cutter for me, but I would love to see one in my future. Merry Christmas to you all and a very Happy New Year!
quilting is my passion. ’nuff said!
For those of us who do not yet have a die cut machine, being a Badass quilter means diving in and making it work, no matter what the cost in time and effort. Making the most awesome quilts takes more work and time than I can afford, especially with a full time job. I’m a dude who is proud of my quilting family heritage. But in order to work to my potential I really need to win!
I think being badass means being confident at what I do and who I am, so confident that i can let everyone else be their badass selves. I have never used a die cutter. Thanks for the giveaway!
A badass quilter can make awesome contemporary quilts that defy old school quilting. I do not have a fabric die cutter.
Being a BadAss Quilter means making awesome (not lame) quilts for babies!!! Something that will be treasured for years to come!
Badass Quilting means I try new things and go for it! I have tried to use a Silhouette and didn’t have good results. Would love to win!
Holiday awesomeness! No Rules…..Just Do It!!
I love the friendships and relationships made through quilting. It doesn’t matter how old you are, what culture you come from, the colour of your skin, who you chose to love, what religion you do or don’t follow, how much money you do or don’t make…it brings us together!! It makes no difference what our differences are. WE are QUILTERS and that connects us all. The fabric therapy..colour, texture…ALL OF IT!! I do have an Accu quilt cutter but I haven’t used it in years. Being a busy long arm quilter, i find very little time for doing any of my own stuff anymore but I continue to buy fabric and notions, gidgits and gadgets in the hope that I will be able to devote more time to me. π
Being A BadAss Quilter,to me, means being and individual, and not afraid to show it. I have always tried to be honest and true to who I am and not care if anyone liked it or not. Now there is a place full of people like me,well in regards to being themselves. We are all important and each of us contributes something different. I love being A member of this society! Thank you for creating a place for me!
I just purchased the accuquilt studio for my personal and business use. Love it so far.
can’t wait to try the Big Shot , hi fromBA quilters
love this BAD ASS qquilting group and the prizes are great. Thanks
I am a bad ass quilter because Im not afraid of trying new and different things. And I use die cut machine
I think the number one thing that makes me a BadAss Quilter is that I refuse to be identified as a modern quilter, or a traditional quilter, or as a contemporary quilter. I am a Quilter! End of story. I won’t avoid a technique, color, tool or design to fit into any of those boxes, no matter how pretty the quilting may be. I make quilts and that is pretty awesome with nothing more than plain fabric and quilting. Everything else is just icing. Mmm… icing!
I do have a die cutter but I don’t use it to great effect. I like to use a 6.5″ square die to trim scraps for charity quilting. It is also great to use to trim crumb blocks.
For me, being a badass quilter just gives my style a name. I like to do what I want, the way I want to do it. I don’t like to be told what I should or should not do. Yes, there are some fundamentals that should be heeded but if I can get from fabric to finished quilt with less frustration and more enjoyment, I’m all over that! It is liberating.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means to live outside of the box. We bend the rules of quilting, color theories and mix old ideas with new. There are no limits or rules to staunch our creativity. Our quilts may not be perfect but neither are we. Ideas for quilts come from many places. We don’t just use a pattern, and if we do you can bet we have tweaked it in so way that makes it our own. That is what being a Bad Ass Quilter is all about. Being Me! I have a die cut machine and I have used it for mainly appliquΓ©.
To me being a BadAss Quilter means being able to make works of art that are made with love and given to my friends and family to enjoy for generations to come. It means walking into the house of someone I have given a quilt to and seeing their children laying on the floor covered up with it watching their favorite movie. It means that years from now when one of the ladies I have given a quilt to has passed and that her kids will look at the quilt and remember “that was moms favorite quilt, she allowed us to play under it when we used it as a tent and in the winter she always had it on her bed.” My quilts are meant to create memories for the people I give them to. To me that is a BadAss quilter. I do not use a die cuter but it would be cool to see what new adventures I can create with one. Thank you for your contest.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means having the freedom to express myself through quilting. Having the ability to quilt whatever, whenever and the freedom to change my mind. Quilting isn’t just for little ole ladies anymore. We are loud, proud, of all ages, backgrounds and we love it!
Being a BAQS means not worrying about breaking the “rules”. I don’t use a die-cut system (yet!) but I’m very curious about them.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter is amazing, has given me the confidence I needed to allow my talent to shine! This is all because Maddie Kertay had a dream which has become a reality. Thrilling to say the least – love you Madie!
There’s so many comments I forgot the question already. BadAss Quilters quilt for the joy and the love, not to have the best fabric or the perfect points. Although I don’t cry when either of those things show up. I’m in it for the color (all the color until your retinas burn) and the warmth (flannel backs whenever possible). I quilt because when someone’s sick, or born or far away, it’s a hug you can gift. Plus the color. I don’t die cut much with fabric but I’m about to have the space to give it a try so why not??
I love being a bad-assed quilter. Earlier this year I was in Chicago for my first quilt show. A local guy asked me what I was in town to see. I told him “A quilt show!” He looked at me and said “Wow, you don’t look like a quilter!” Best compliment ever. Yep I’m a total bad-ass quilter and loving every minute.
I am excited about the breathe of fresh air the Badass Quilter Society is bringing to t he art of quilting. I have a crazy schedule that doesn’t leave time for a guild or lots of classes. So reading all these comments i always feel judged by more experienced quilters but not anymore im glad to see others what they want and living it. I hope to dabble in applique soon and will Too check out sure cutter
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means making whatever quilt I want whenever I want! I follow patterns if I feel like it and if I don’t, I just sew fabric together and it makes a quilt! It means my mistakes aren’t mistakes, they’re patches of “nuance”!
It’s whatever makes me happy.
I don’t use a cutting system, but I’ve been looking at them and drooling forever!
I’ve been sewing since I could hold a needle, but until I found the BAQS, I was embarrassed to show my work because it never looked like professional quilts look. I’m not embarrassed anymore, and in the last year, my work has taken giant leaps forward in technique and style. Not using die cuts now … but very interested in how it could play a role in my fun π
I have not used die cutting before but love to applique so a cutter would be a new & exciting addition!
(I thought I posted before but I have looked at the list 2X’s and can’t find it π So, forgive me I don’t want to be left out!!)
I think I have been a Bad Ass Quilter since I started because I just dove in and started on a paper piecing project for a teacher gift. I had no idea there were “rules”. It turned out but I really had to be inventive when I didn’t know you should use a quarter inch seam for every seam, haha. No matter. I Badassed my way through it. No I don’t use a die cutter. I wish I had one but I don’t. Thanks!
Quilting the way you want to quilt even if the quilt police tell you it’s wrong. Have to say that I’ve gotten great responses to my BAQS car sticker, even from none quilters!
Yes, I have used diecuts for applique projects. Would be very cool to own one of these tools!
Risking the cone of shame because I can’t find my original post. BAQ society has helped me realize that it’s okay to like what I do and make what speaks to me, even when it isn’t what is cool or all the rage at the moment. Bad Ass Quilters also find the craftsmanship and art in everyone’s expression of their art. I haven’t used dyes yet but have been very tempted.
To me it means I can be who I am and enjoy my creativity how I want even if it differs from the way others quilt.
I have not used die cutting as of yet.
Being a BadAss Quilter means my quilts, my way and screw the quilt police. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate quality work, but I’ll decide how picky to be, and how much or little color to put in a project, thank you very much. Every quilter has the right to make quilts the way he or she sees fit. We all love fabric, so why beat each other up about how we work? I have used some Accuquilt Go! Dies before. Having a way to make my own custom shapes is very appealing. My quilts, my way, you know.
Thank you for making this possible. 8K and going strong. 10K will come soon.
