And share this post to increase the fun!!!

Badassiveness to me means this ain’t Granny’s quilt style! unless she was on acid whilst picking her fabrics!
i’ve not tried die cutting..so far…but if it’s accurate and efficient i’m in.
To be a badass quilter is to follow your own heart even if it isn’t in the pattern. To explore your own boundaries even if it is out of bounds. To ignore those quilt police when they comment on how many projects do you have going? You know they will get done in there own time if they are meant to be finished at all. You learned a lot from what you finished up to that point, which what is important to me. The other question do I use a die cutter already? I personally don’t own a die cutter but I have a friend who owns one and she has shown me her wide variety of patterns and how to use the machine too. Pretty handy tool if you ask me. I am sure I would give it a good work you. Wow what a gift package you are awarding today four lucky quilters are going to have one heck of a holiday season. Billie
Bad Ass Quilter means I can do what I want….when I want….and how I want!!!no I don’t have a die cutter!
Started quilting in 1976, I was a Bad Ass quilter before quilting was consider Bad Ass!!
Being a BadAss Quilter means I don’t have to apologize for my fiber love. So there. And no, I haven’t used die cutting… yet.
Thesee are some awsome prizes! I have to remind myself being badass also means loving the design “choices” as they come up.
Eeeeee! This is so cool that you have hit 8K, Maddie! Remembering 2 brings memories. So happy for you!!
I think I have been a BadAss Quilter all of my quilting life and didn’t know it! Conforming to the norm is not me. My quilts have to evolve and take on their own spirit. Quilting is a personal creative expression.
No I do not use a die cutter.
being a BadAss quilter means I quilt what I want, no quilt police allowed
Congrats for reaching the 8,000 mark!! I am a badass quilter because I sit on my ass and quilt while chores pile up! I have never used my Sizzix for cutting fabric, my dies are all too small.
Being a Badass Quilter means being able to do what I like and have the freedom to do so! It also means being with other like minded people. Whoever wins those prizes is a lucky person as they are wonderful. Ive never used die cutting at all before, but theres always a first time.
I really like your blog. Lot’s of interesting things. Hope I’m included in your giveaway. I love quilting stuff….all of it!
Being a bad ass quilter to me is just making whatever you want, not being afraid to try something you haven’t done before.I’m not using die cutting but would love to if I win!!!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means I can make what I want, when I want, how I want. No rules. And if I need help, I’m bad ass enough to ask for help.
i have a Go Die cutter.
I think being a BAQ means doing what you want regardless of what the rules are! I do not have a die utter, but I would love one!
I could never make up my mind on which die cutter to get so no at the moment I am not using a die cutter. As to what makes a BadAss Quilter well I believe that is several things: A badass is willing to take chances. A badass does it their way, a badass doesn’t always follow the rules. A badass uses whatever is hand because at that moment it fit what they needed it for. A badass doesn’t require judges to tell them they are the best, they know what they do is the best they do even if it doesn’t fit anyone else’s criteria. So a badass simply has to play with fabric and thread and whatever else comes their way because it is in their blood to do so.
I may not be a BadAss Quilter yet…but I’d like to be one day! I have so many projects and ideas and not enough time! But I want to be able to make things for my kids that they’ll be able to take with them when they are older. I hope they will appreciate the time I put into it, and maybe want to learn how to sew and quilt along the way! I love that with BAQ, you don’t have to follow the traditional designs and styles…you can show your own style and designs and use color combinations and patterns that please you.
My world wouldn’t be very interesting with out quilting. I eat, sleep and think about new quilting patterns(I am a long arm quilter with my own business) and using different threads to get the look I want (or the customer wants). Quilting is who I am. I currently don’t use die-cutting but my daughter needs a good one for her business. I also plan on getting my sister quilting one of these days! I’ve met the best people through quilting and hope I am always able to give something back to it for others too.
Being a BadAss quilter means making what I want, when I want. I occasionally borrow a die cut from a friend for fusible applique.
I don’t use a die cut machine for quilts yet 🙂 Being a bad ass quilter means making bad ass quilts and having fun while doing it! Never being able to follow a pattern and thinking outside the box!
I sent a comment but never saw it appear – but fb does some wierd ass stuff but thought I would try again. If this ends up being a second comment and disqualifies me…so be it.
Just being yourself, in whatever form that might take!
Yes I use die cutting, but not often. Mostly for Applique…..
Being a bad ass quilter means to be daring and creative and to always be planning a project or two in your head. Die- cutting is one of my favorite things to do.
Bad Ass means there’s no such thing as a mistake, only opportunities you didn’t expect, LOL! I never would have purchased a die-cutter and didn’t expect to like it, but I won a little machine at a quilt show and have found several fun things to do with it. My favorite might be cutting shapes to use as silk-screen resists. FYI – I also used die cuts on my Wicked challenge quilt.
Being a BAQ means coloring outside the lines, thinking outside the box. I love traditional and non-traditional quilting. Love it all. I haven’t tried any die cutting at all. It would be great for faster production. We all need about 10 lives to create the quilts we’d like to create. 😀
I love being a badass quilter because it means freedom! You can break all the rules and don’t have to feel bad about it! Plus, you never know, you may come up with the next best technique and then you can quit your real job and make a living doing what you love!
I currently do not use die cuts, but I’m working on getting into it very soon!
I’m a BadAss Quilter because I never back down from a challenge, I try new techniques and materials regardless of what others think, and I quilt things that I love and then give them away. I have ZERO experience with die cuts so far, but they’re definitely on my list of things to try.
I am totally Bad Ass in everything I do, including quilting. It means being true to my authentic self, and bumping my head around Modern Quilting to make it my own.
I use die cutting for modern applique
Congratulations, amazing prizes! thanks
I have been a BadAss Quilter for many years now I was told I had a pucker on the back of my first quilt I told the person the quilt was for my grandfather and it wasnt a pucker it was a Kiss.
I love to teach new quilters that they are making things for their family and friends the only thing that matters is they ate happy with the colors and the stitching.
I have not used the cutter yet but it looks like a lot of fun.
Ohhh! I love when someone asks for my opinion! To be a Bad-A quilter means to be open to new styles, fabrics and to have a love of the modern look! Modern quilting is the ONLY thing that has spurred my interest in quilting…you asked for my opinion, right? 😉 About the die cutting, I asked for a cutting machine for Christmas. If that doesn’t happen, my birthday is in February.
Being a badass quilter means I do what I want to do — design what I want to design, create what I want to create — without allowing unsolicited criticism and/or negativity from others sway me from my goals or my folly. I use the colors I enjoy without concern about what colors are “in” or what season it is. I create what pleases me. If it pleases others, that’s a bonus. If it doesn’t please others, oh well. My art is what I do for myself, my soul, my joy.
Being a BadAss Quilter means that I am not afraid to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things, new colors and not worry about what anyone says in doing so. This has brought me ribbons for my quilting style and really strengthened my abilities! I am not currently using sizzit. Thanks so much for this amazing opportunity!
A bad ass quilter can be anyone. Im a bad ass quilter because I dont follow the “rules” of quilting and do my own thing. I like to get creative. I love being the youngest member of my quilt guild and like to liven things up for my “older” quilty friends! I do have and accuquilt go baby which I have not used very much at all.
I love being a BadAss Quilter! to me it means trying new things, and doing it with “attitude”.
I enjoy being with other BadAss Quilters,, and seeing all they do.
I have used die cuts in my quilting, but not very ofter, so far!
Being a badass quilter means I can be working on a quilt at 3 am on a work night. I so love what I do that I do it without guilt. I don’t normally die cut but I should try if more often.
Being a badass quilter means to follow your heart and do what feels right to you. You don’t need permission to create what and how you want. This badass quilter is NOT using die cuts in my quilting life.
Being a BadAss Quilter means I get to stitch what I want, in whatever colors I want, in MY time frame. If it hurts someone’s eyes, well tough!
I do not have a die cutter, so I don’t use any of it in my stitching. Gift me with one and I will go crazy playing with the new toy 😉
Being a BadAss Quilter means I can do it MY way without apology or excuse. Anything I want. There are no Quilt Police in MY QuiltWorld. If I like it, that’s good enough.
Oh, and die cuts? I’m a die-cutter from way back in my scrapbookin’ days. It only makes sense to carry them over into quilting.. for blocks and applique and easy cutting.
And thank you Maddie for all you have done for quilting. And I’m sad about your kitten…
Being a BAQ means making what I want and not worrying what anyone else thinks, except the person I’m making it for. It means not getting wound up when others don’t agree with your style. It means having an appreciation for all types of styles because BAQ’s aren’t judgemental. A Die Cut is on my wish list. I love gadgets!
I like being a BAQ – I can do things my own way and no quilt police will be after me. 🙂
I have been following you from the very beginning. I would say I am a Badass Quilters because I have trouble following the rules. I only like to make something once and if I use a pattern I always change something. So excited to watch Badass Quilters grow.
I do not own a die cut but have used at retreat.
Being a BAQ means it’s Okey Dokey to be an artsy fartsy gal, rather random abstract, with frequent OCD streaks about some details. I didn’t talk till I was three, and Mama taught me how to knit when I was three and a half, because I was a non stop talking inquisitive sponge. Grama taught me to quilt and gave me my first sewing machine a few years later. She made mainly utilitarian and crazy quilts, but each of us grandkids received one hand quilted “fancy” quilt before she died at 63. 4H perfectionism sewing was attainable, but not enjoyable. BAQS means there’s more than one way to skin a ca— I mean piece a quilt— and if someone tries to tell you there is only one right way to quilt… They are wrong! I now enjoy machine quilting for others full time, and sharing asst’d sewing tricks and kindness to others along the way! Enjoy your stitchin’ or get out of the kitchen! I would love to try my hand at a die cutter!
Being part of the Bad Ass Quilters Society means being a part of something that allows me to feel complete freedom in making a quilt any damn way I want – without feeling like I’ve done something ‘wrong’. I don’t like to conform – call me a rebel. I proudly display my BAQS sticker in my teyck and hope it has caused people to be curious enough to google it. I do not use any type of cutting machine …but would love one.
What being a BadAss Quilter means to me is that I quilt what I like – not b/c someone told me to quilt it! And not b/c it is THE thing to do or the fad that is going around. It means that I chose my own fabrics and not always a line. It means breaking rules and finding out things for myself.
I do already die-cut and love it but I would love to win those new wedding ring dies!
Congratulations!!
Well I am BadAss at everything thing else I do, no half ass here, so why not quilting too! 🙂 I’m a risk taker not a rule maker, the best things are created this way. I have only made one quilt so far, a rag quilt, so I am very, very new to quilting. I do not use die cuts, yet! I have seen the machines and would love to own one. One step at a time you know, the pocketbook can only handle so much. So many of the items being given away are on my “Wish List”, talk about a dream come true. Congratulations on the Milestone following and I will be here at 16,000 to wish you well too!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter for means remembering to extend to myself the same love and acceptance I try to extend to others. I’m not a practiced or particularly skillful quilter, but there’s nothing better than parking my judgmental and perfectionist tendencies, and making what feels right instead of what some authority says I should do. Then it’s Bad Ass and it rocks!! BAQS provides inspiration and validation and the occasional kick in the ass – just what I need. I haven’t tried die cutting yet, but would love get the chance. Thanks so much to Maddie and all the wonderful sponsors!
Being a BadAss quilter means just letting it rip. Creating what you want anytime you want when the inspiration strikes. I have not yet tried die cutting b/c I don’t own one….sadly I have dies …just no cutter!
Bad Ass to the bone! No die cutter.
Love being a Bad Ass quilter! Quilting to what is in my head and doing things I have fun quilting!! I have not used dye cuts- but have wanted to try!!
Happy 8000!!!! Woohoo!
Thanks to all these awesome businesses for supporting BAQS! Happy to support them, as well!
