Badass for me is quilting the way I want, with no rules!
BadAss Quilting … quilting outside the lines, bringing new life to traditional patterns … and having more fabric, patterns and unfinished projects that you can only hope to use up in your lifetime.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means confidence to me. Confidence in myself and my abilities. It also reminds me I am free to experiment and try new things.
Congrats, BAQS, on the 8000!
I haven’t tried the die cutting yet, but I am intrigued by the precision.
It is all about tolerance and attitude! We love who we love and we love what we do. We welcome new ideas and encourage others to follow their own path. There is no right way or wrong way just the way our hearts guide us. We help when asked but do not push our ways onto others. We do not denigrate others because we do not agree with them. We strive to be who we are and hope through our actions those around us are comfortable enough to be themselves. We have a “no rules” way of life without hurting others. We do what makes us feel good. We quilt or sew or embroider or laugh or dance or eat and drink or get tattoos with abandon. We smile a lot. We are BAQs. And yes, some of us would love to try a die cutting machine for fabric. Thanks for all you do, Maddie. I hope to see your shop (or you see mine) and we share some time chatting one day.
Colors outside of the lines, runs with scissors and is so into your own creative space.
Getting to make something in my own style, colors and time!!! Having my own die cutter would be a dream come true since I have seen these beauties demoed and would love one of my own someday!
Being a BadAss Quilter means I’m free to be me! Think outside the box with color and changing patterns to get what I like. Have not used die cutting as of yet, but is on my Quilting Bucket List.
Thanks for being you Maddie and encouraging the rest of us.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Being a Badass Quilter means letting your freak flag fly and embracing the beauty and diversity that comes in all creative endeavors. I haven’t yet used die cuts but would love to try it out.
BAQ is a moniker I’m proud of. Owning and being influenced by but not restricted by the craft of our mothers and grandmothers and making quilting our own. Breaking some rules where we see fit. Being inspired by everything around us and interpreting pattern and technique in our own way. Pride in our creativity and accomplishments. Taking names.
Being a Badass quilter means allowing my creativity to come out even if it isn’t traditionally correct. Enjoying, supporting, even celebrating the differences between everyone.
I don’t have a die cut machine but would like to try one.
Congrats on 8000+!
For me, being a badass quilter means I can make/quilt what makes me happy. What speaks to me. I don’t need to please anyone else. I’m free to be me!
I don’t use die cuts, yet. Totally on my wish list! You can tell Santa for me, right Maddy?!
Badass Quilting means knowing the rules and breaking them anyway; pushing yourself to try something new and have fun doing it; taking pride in your work – mistakes and all; dropping the words “can’t & don’t” from your vocabulary; grabbing that next project with both hands and owning it!
Congrats on 8,000+! Thanks to all the sponsors for some awesome swag (that would look even more awesome in my sewing room). I do use a die cut for projects and really enjoy & appreciate the accuracy.
I’ve always loved sewing and fell in love with quilting a couple of years ago. It’s just… so much fun and relaxing for me. I appreciate the freedom that the whole process – from a pattern calling me to sewing down the last inch if binding – gives me. I don’t currently have a die cutter, but I think Santa is going to leave one under the tree this year.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter to me means being able to make your own path, take the bad with the good, and finish feeling like you accomplished something, and not too shabby, either! I don’t have a die cutter and haven’t tried it yet.
I am a quilter because I flunked Calculus and couldn’t be a Civil Engineer. I will try any pattern once – am fascinated by curves – I’m a Bad Ass Quilter because I made my a Drunkard’s path baby quilt for my friend’s first Grandchild. I have never used a die cutter, but am strongly considering it, because the arthritis in my hands makes it harder and harder to cut fabric.
The BAQS manifesto resonates with me because it is so important for us to do what makes us happy in this life. Screw those other guys who think that their way is the only way. I am barely learning to quilt, but this group had made me feel less tentative about it – like i don’t have to please anyone.
I don’t have an accu-thingie 🙂 but I am open to trying new things.
Keep doing what you do.
For me, being a badass quilter means that I have found ways to keep doing what I love & am now learning machine quilting after years of being a hand-quilter… I loved hand quilting, but autoimmune arthritis made it painful. Rather than give up my hobby, I dove into machine quilting. Also, I ha en’t used die cutters for quilting yet, but I’d love to try it, again…because of arthritis it might be something that makes the hobby easier for me.
My Grandma taught me to be a BadAss Quilter! Using whatever materials she had available at any given moment she made beautiful works of art that are cherished by those fortunate enough to have received one. She quilted until her eyesight completely failed her. She always told me to follow my own vision for any project. I miss her so. I have never used used a die cut but would like to explore them some time.
To me being a Badass Quilter means not worrying about the Quilt Police, just doing what makes ME happy. I have on occasion used a die- cut machine.
I guess I’m a Bad Ass Quilter — I have never felt there were “rules” that had to be followed. If you do it and you like the result, then it’s okay! I haven’t done any die-cutting, but I’ve been seriously considering a scan-n-cut because then I wouldn’t be tied to just commercially available shapes
Not following the rules and listening to my own drum makes me a badass quilter. I have a die cutter but don’t use it as much as I’d like. Congrats Maddie on this milestone.
Love BadAss quilters. Having a community where everyone is accepted and encouraged to be themselves is wonderful. I don’t use die cutting at this time but am intrigued by it.
I think it means I’m not afraid to try new things, like a technique or toy. To be fearless in my quilting dreams and checking off that long quilty bucket list one by one! I’ve Never used dye cuts before but would love to try them out sometime
Being a Bad Ass quilter is quilting the way that you want, and not giving a damn about what others think of your quilting style.
BAQ is to me the greatest reason to quilt. There are no rules, just fun and friendships that will last a lifetime. I always loved sewing but you showed me that quilting could give me a thrill as I give to others. Thank you for letting funky be ok!
I love quilting, I love fabric. Being a BAQ gives me a place to go for ideas and help. I love the inspiration that the other BAQ’s give me. I have used a die cut for cutting out my quilt pieces and love it. I would love to have a big die cut.
I’m badass quilter because I design and make my own art quilts and share my technique to make mechanical quilts. And because I have recently retired and quilt almost every day. I haven’t used a die cutting machine, yet. But I sure would like to try one.
Being a badass quilter means following my own ‘rules’ or throwing them out the window if the quilt calls for it and loving the process as much as the result.
I do not have a die cutter but it might be fun to have one!
My name is Michele and I am a BadAss. Being a BadAss is an attitude, a no-fear kind of way to approach just about anything, to include quilting. (And no, I don’t do the die-cutting thing – at the moment!)
Love the BadAss Quilter’s Society!!
i think I am a badass quilter because it is all I want to do!! Maybe I am a grinch!! I am working on three quilts and I like them so leave me alone and let me quilt. !! Nope, I don’t have any cutter except the rotary kind! I would like one but…
Being badass to me means that quilting is my hobby and my happy place. I like to challenge myself and try new things to incorporate new techniques. But it’s not about pleasing others or winning awards. It’s about being my best and adapting my skill and most of all having fun and meeting other badass women in the process. I do not alralready use die cutring in my quilting
Awesome! I use the brother scan n cut, not a true die cutter. Being a bad ass means trying new things, believing in yourself, & being proud to show your quilts no matter the level.
I am a badass quilter because I am just learning to quilt- and my only daughter just celebrated her first birthday. You have to be pretty badass to quilt while a baby crawls around your feet! I haven’t used die cuts yet, but the idea of precision cut shapes appeals to me as a pretty badass time-saver!
being a bad ass quilter means I don’t have to apologize for thinking outside the box! I actually didn’t realize there was a box. I don’t have a die cutter. Would love to win one of the prizes. Love the Bad Ass Quilters Society.
Bring a Bad Ass quilter means trying new things, thinking outside the box, making things you love and having lots of fun doing it.
I do not have a die cut machine, but it would be fun to have one.
to me, being a badass quilter is about checking my gut and making decisions that feel right to my artistic self. No matter what anyone else says.
I’ve never used dies, but I hear they’re accurate and fabulous! Thank you for this amazing giveaway.
Being a BadAss meaning listening to your heart. When you are satisfied with your work, who cares what others think.
I am unfamiliar with die-cutters. I’ve heard good things, but I haven’t tried them myself.
I am so impressed by the way BadAss Quilters Society nurtures all kinds of creativity in quilting, without judging! How wonderful to have support and input from other quilters, and to try new things without fear. Thanks for making it all possible, Maddie.
I don’t have a die cutter, and have wondered if it would fit in my process. It would be fun to find out!
Being a Bad Ass quilter allows me the freedom to be the quilter I am meant to be…doing my own thing and celebrating my craft!
i like BassAss Quilters because of the people and the quilts, training chances. Being a fairly new quilter, the group has helped me grow along with my local guild. I do own a GO and use it to cut some appliqué and 1 1/2″ strips for some patterns.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter to me means enjoying what I am doing and doing it well. Hopefully being able to share some of my work with family and friends to enjoy.. I also enjoy ‘Bad Ass I know’ donating my work to a good cause such as a school raffle or a children’s hospital.
(Isn’t it fun to see how many people feel like they are BadAss Quilters? I want one of those t-shirts!!) Quilting is definitely addictive… it scratches so many itches – creativity, math, patterns, history, tradition, color, etc. Why am I a BAQ? I’m proud of my addiction. I get so much pleasure out of sharing my creations. I love variety – and have used some pre-cuts. Cutting is not my forte but I don’t let that stop me… There are too many warm fuzzies in the quilting process. I can quilt all day and hate to walk away from my machine at the end of the day… I’m relaxed and so happy. I’m delighted to be considered a BAQ!!
Being a member of BAQS means I can come here, not be judged, feel free to be me and absorb knowledge from other members. Ahh, freedom. Haven’t had a chance to use a die-cutter.
I consider myself a BAQ because I do things MY way. I’ve never used a pattern, just make it up as I go along! I have never used a die cutter.
I’m a badass quilter and it’s expanded my mind, my confidence, my creativity and yeah, I quilt without rules and I don’t care who knows it 🙂
I’m bandaids quilt teacher! That means I’ll teach you all the old-fashioned quilt rules if you want, but I’ll never hold you to them. If you want to experiment, that”s my favorite thing.
BAQ means doing it your way. Sometimes it’s just easier to be yourself than to fit into a mold. I have used the accu cutter, but seems easier just to cut what I need and not waste so much material. I love quilting. It can make such a statement.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter . . . to me, it means understanding the rules are just guidelines, and its more than OK to color outside of the lines. Freedom to play, create, learn, explore, and just have fun playing with fabric, thread, and all forms of textiles. I have not used die-cut yet, one of many things I hope to experiment with :).
Being a BBQ is to dare yourself! The more I quilt the more daring I become to find my style in each project…each new project for me has shown me that rules are to be bent and broken. Mistakes can actually become masterpieces of quilted art. I love every aspect of quilting and have not used a die-cut tool yet, but am ready, able And badass enough to try anything now!
