Great Prizes! I love being a BAQ!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means chucking patterns (most of the time), and sewing with music in mind. My quilts are inspired by punk rock songs. Being able to mix and sewing is awesome.
I do not use die cut.
What does it mean to be a BadAss Quilter? It means doing whatever I damn well please!! I will place busy bright n beautiful prints ALL together, my points will not necessarily nest together properly and my seams are not always straight! But ya know what? I am in love with quilting, and I’m going to continue breaking rules and going against the (fabric) grain. BadAss Quilting supports the art form for all its worth; judgement free for all quilters, BadAss or not 🙂
Well, I think I am still learning what it means to be a BAQ. Being from the south, especially south Georgia, we were taught to “behave”,” follow the norm” etc… I don’t think there is anything at all wrong with that, BUT being raised that way has a tendency to bleed over into your creativity and thought processes. I am still learning that it is “OK” to create something different. To create what appeals to me. Explore possibilities. Of course I still seek approval from my peers, but it is not as “devastating” to know that someone may not like what I create or how I create it. I am still learning to live with that and I am still discovering what “I am made of”. I am over the moon with being able to actually do “whatever floats my boat”! 🙂 And I haven’t ever used a die cutter, (yet). Congratulations on 8,000 BAQ’s out there! xo jan
To not follow traditional outdated patterns and just have fun. No, I have not used die cut.
it means that occasionally some of my projects are off color and can’t be posted on my regular facebook page or worn in from of my moms church friends!
I guess I aspire to be a BAQ since I’ve only recently started doing some small quilting projects. Most of my sewing has been garments but I’m going crazy with Pinterest and quilt ideas! And no – I have not used any die cuts.
Being a BadAss quilter means I can either go by the pattern or not. There are no rules. I haven’t used die cuts but would love to!!!
Being a BAQ means having the courage to follow my own dreams and not bow to convention or rules of “shoulds”. I only have to please myself.
I am using die cuts in quilting intermittently. So often there isn’t a die in the exact shape and size of what I want (or if there is such a die, it’s way too expensive). Wish there was a variable size die for basic shapes…. Maybe one day ; }
Congrats on 8,000. What a great group of sponsors — thanks to all.
Congrats on 8000 Bad Ass members!! Being a Bad Ass quilter means being able to step out of the box and have fun! If I like what I am making and it makes me happy, then who cares about the rules! I don’t die cut.
Being BadAss means that I accept, respect and embrace all quilters (and their work) no matter what color, size, age, type, category…clean, dirty, traditional, modern or whatever other name someone tries to tag on. Infact, that is what it means to me…..tag-less quilting!
Have never had the opportunity to die cut, it would be fun though!
Badass Quilting is going my own thing in my own time and loving every minute!!!
I am a Bad Ass Quilter because quting is about the joy it brings. Whatever works got you no explanation required!
I do not use a due cutter but would love too!
Congratulations on 8000!
Awesome group!!
Being a BAQ means doing my work to please myself.
I do a little die cut crafting
the quilt police do NOT get to inspect my work. Yes I have used a guild’s die cutter for charity quilts and my own work.
To me being a BadAss Quilter is not fitting into any one specific model- doing what makes me happy! I don’t use a die-cutter- but would love one!!!
I am a BadAss Quilter because I always break the rules and think that every quilt is beautiful, especially to the maker. It doesn’t matter what level you are, everyone and every quilt is a work in progress. I have not used die cuts extensively but am interested in adding this skill to my process.
It means I’m allowed to be different!
No, I have never used a die cutter.
For me, BAQS means sewing, quilting, creating, whatever brings me joy. It means nonjudgmental appreciation for all my “works of art,” and those of others as well.
Oh, and I am not currently using a die cutter but would love to give it a try someday!
To me Being a Badass Quilter means having fun with my quilting and doing it the way I want! Congrats on reaching 8000, you’ve put together an amazing giveaway. (And I haven’t used die cuts yet.)
Being a Badass Quilter means screw the “rules” and sew for happiness, supporting others in their artistic ventures and trying to give some joy to others through my creativity. I have not used any of the die cuts yet but have admired them!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter, as I believe I always have been, is playing by my own rules. I really love making art quilts and I use a lot of raw edge applique, thread painting, and acrylic paints….SO since I create what I want that’s bad ass enough for me!
I don’t use die cutting as of now. Have thought it would be sweet to get things cut out fast and easy, but since I do a lot free hand pieces for GIS quilts, not sure if it would be that handy. But I sure would give it a try if I got my hands on one of the machines!
Congrats on 8,000 and counting! We are all bad ass quilters in our own rights!
Bad Ass Quilters make whatever they want to make, and love every minute of sewing, experimenting, embroidering, and quilting (well, maybe not that so much!).
I don’t use die cuts-yet.
For me, being a Bad Ass Quilter means walking to the beat of my own drum, breaking the rules that stifle creativity and expression of personality while still upholding the traditions and history of quilting, in my own little way… Yes I do quilt, no I am not your “average” quilter and I think that makes me Bad Ass. I have not played with die cutting yet, but would like to dabble if given the chance! Thanks for this amazing opportunity!!!
I am working on becoming a Bad Ass Quilter, and look to this group for guidance. Thank you for all the resources that you provide.
Being BadAss means being kind to other quilters, accepting what they do and being a positive motivator. It means there are no quilt police, and to encourage everyone’s pursuit to do the best they can do, and to enjoy the ride. I have an Accuquilt GO and GO! Baby, and lots of dies. I enjoy using them, and love the dies that make difficult blocks easier, and more fun. I think it’s awesome that Spool allows use of one in the store. You rock!
Being a BAQ means I belong to a totally non-judgemental group of people. I love to quilt, and Bad Ass Quilters will value that love of quilting, no matter what I make. I have used die cuts some, but not lots. Thank you for all you do, Maddie.
I love being a BAQ! I love taking a traditional block and using something fresh and modern to change it up. I have been using a die cutting system to cut strips and blocks to speed up my quilt making. I have used the Ellison and Sizzix systems for several years now to cut paper for classroom bulletin boards and paper crafting. I love the ease of use of the die cutting systems. These are great prizes!
Beibg a bad ass quilter means doing what works for me. I use die cuts for applique.
Bass Ass attitude..no apologies for unfurnished stack of projects and size of stash! Been looking at die cutter but surprisingly no purchase yet..
Being a BadAss Quilter means transcending rules, doing things my way, making it what I love, encouraging the up and coming moderately naughtyAss quilters to let go and enjoy the process. I do have a sizzix and love it – mine was originally for scrapbooking but has migrated to the sewing room…. hugs and kisses and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I LOVE being a Bad Ass Quilter since I have always forged my own path and that is what you have created for all of us!! I have used die cuts, but not in the last year or so.
My friend, Lou, introduced to the Bad Ass quilter and I just love your name. Wish I could quilt like you. I have just started using some dye cutters.
Being a badass quilter means NO quilt police in, or near me, I enjoy the process to much for someone else to pick apart my quilting faults. No die cutter at the moment.
Frickin awesome prizes!! BAQS being what I want to be, doing whatever I want to and not worry about what people will think of my work. I’ve never tried one of those cutting gadgets but is love to.
Being a Badass Quilter is so much better than spending a lot of time worrying what anyone else thinks of my work. Imperfections and frustrations are what makes my journey so interesting.
Yes, I have an Accuquilt. I used it a lot when I was starting out, but not so much recently.
Congrats on the 8000!!
Wonderful giveaway!!!
Those are some Bad Ass gifts! Thanks for putting together such an amazing assortment. Thanks to the companies, too. Love the no quilt police attitude. 🙂
I do not use a die cutter ,,, yet.
I am a bad ass quilter because it is my free time to do exactly as I feel at that moment. I’m not any bodies wife or mom or student or employee, I’m just myself. So if I want to drink a glass of wine and quilt in my underwear ,,,, so be it, it makes me happy.
Stitchin’ seams and takin’ names… stay out of the way of my needle as I plow through this stash. I’ve die cut before and am looking for ways to use the dies I’ve bought.
I am a BadAss Quilter, I love not following the rules and changing a pattern, which I consider to be only a suggestion of what the finished quilt should look like. I do use some precut shapes for quilting.
Bad Ass quilting, means to be myself and not to worry about using exactly the fabric in the patern or worry about the quilting police. I love bright colors and adding machine embroidery. I have a Aququilt GO cutter and I love it.
To me, being a bad ass quilter means doing what you want, regardless of the “rules”, and being true to your vision of what you are working on. It is also working on what you want to work on, at your own pace. I don’t currently have a die cutter.
Not using die cutting right now. I am bad assessment because I accomplish quilts while ignoring the proverbial quilt police.
Making and encouraging others to make and present Quilts of Valor makes me a BadAss Quilter! We get to be creative and honor veterans with our handiwork and give them a forever hug with our quilts. We often use dies to cut stars (naturally!) and Eleanor Burns’ eagle (of course!) to embellish our quilts. It would be so cool to be a winner in this contest!
Love putting my own spin on traditional quilts, whether unusual color combos, wonky blocks, or my quilting choices. Guess that makes me a BadAss quilter.
The only die cuts I have used are some hexies that a friend cut for me.
Means looking at pattern and making it “mine” change of colors or techniques, using applique instead of piecing and cutting sitting down and using lines on the cutting mat. Wish I had a die cutting machine but not in financial future at present. Closest I come, is using June Taylor slotted mat. Enjoy your posts but wish I lived close to your physical shop. Carry on with your “bad ass “ways.
Being a Badass Quilter, to me, means not looking for validation or permission to express your art however you want to do it, I do not use a die cutter, and I don’t use a computer on my longarm, but that doesn’t mean that YOU shouldn’t. No rules, no judgements.
Being a BAQ means that I can do things my way, on my terms and that everyone else can too! I use die cutting, but not a lot. Love it for processing scraps. Otherwise, a good ruler, rotary blade and mat do the job.
