Being a BadAss Quilter means doing it my own way! No I haven’t used die cuts before.
What a giveaway! I just kept scrolling. And scrolling. And scrolling. AWESOME! What being a BadAss Quilter for me means confidently making what I want, how I want, and not worrying so much what everyone else is doing.
I’ve borrowed a friend’s Go!Baby twice: once to cut 5″ charms and once to cut tumblers. Those tumblers went together like buttah. Loved the experience.
Thanks so much for a fantastic giveaway, BAQS!
Being a BadAss Quilter means making stuff that makes me happy. I have not used die cuts.
I’m a badass quilter because I do a lot of unsewing, still, despite 20+ years as a quilter/sewer. Also because I still enjoy learning new techniques and I haven’t met a quilt style (or a fabric) I didn’t like!
Being a BAQ to me means being true to yourself and your creativity instead of worrying about what others are doing.
I have not used die cuts before.
Being a BAQ means following my heart, not letting others dictate what I do as a quilter and what I love. It means being open and nurturing without being judgmental. It means passion for what I do. I don’t use a diecutting machine. Have never had the occasion to try it. Might be interesting! Thanks for the forum.
I love saying I’m a BadAss Quilter, because anything with BadAss in it has to be good. Never liked the quilt police and think it should be all about the creation, and occasional completion, of a quilt. I have used die cuts in the past, particularly when I need to cut a bunch of something.
To me, being a BAQ means looking a t a quilt top and knowing how I want to quilt it and being able to execute my designs. I have not tried die-cutting yet but I’m up for it.
Make what you like and like what you make!
I have a Sizzix Big Shot that I rarely use, probably because I have so few dies for it.
I am a new quilter, and am having so much fun. What a wonderful addiction!
I am a beginner Bad Ass Quilter. For me that means exploring this new creative side of me without fear of “doing it wrong.” I love the sensation of finding beautiful fabric and them combining it however I fancy. My inspiration for being Bad Assed comes from all the stunning creativity of the quilters around me.
Though I have never used die cuts, I am creating my own sewing space and have been eye balling these machines.
Thanks to all the sponsors who support Bad Ass Quilters. What a celebration!
A Bad Ass Quilter, that’s me, quilt everyday, no matter what needs doing lol. never used a die cutter before, might give me too many ufo it looks sew fun
My confidence is what makes me a BadAss quilter. Simple. I don’t care what anyone thinks of my quilts.
I haven’t yet used a die cutter. Die cutters cost money. I need to spend my money on fabric. Now, if I were to win a die cutter……then YES!
I am a Badass Quilter in my heart, because I am completely fearless about trying new things. I have to be, since I only started this year. No technique is so daunting that I won’t attempt it at some point! And I’ve made my peace with the fact that some things I try, I’ll really dislike or I’ll really be quite bad at. That’s fine; I am allowed to do what I enjoy. And so are you! So don’t let quilting suck: choose the stuff that’s fun, and admire what other quilters do.
I haven’t tried die cutters yet, but I will!
I am learning to be a BAQ! I am learning to let go and enjoy the process of quilting the way it makes me happy. Some days I get outside the but that’s ok because they are my lines. I do not use die cutting but would love to be able to. Quilting is my relaxation and my therapy.
I think being a Bad Ass Quilter means taking tradition and turning it upside down. Look at old techniques and patterns and making them modern and fresh. Also to modify those techniques to make them work for you.
I can’t say that I use a die cutter, but I’ve seen one in action, and am in awe.
Thanks for this amazing giveaway, and thanks to all the awesome sponsors!
Being a BAQ for me is having 800 sq feet of sewing space that is ALL mine and loving it. It’s not totally finished but I finally have space to sprawl out. I currently do not use die cutting but am certainly willing to change that if I were to win. I applique and would love to be able to use dies.
Being a BAQ means never saying sorry that I bought so much fabric! If I don’t turn all that magic fabric into fabulous quilts, some other BAQ will someday! And I haven’t tried any die-cutting, but I am dying to.
I am a badass quilter. I have been quilting for a year and a half, and it is the hobby I needed in my life. I get to be be creative and the results are useful items as well as art. I have tattoos and a nose ring too, so that helps in the definition of a badass. A badass quilter is one who tries new things, takes a chance on a pattern or color combo, and has the confidence to know that while the end result may not be perfect, it is still amazing and badass.
I don’t have a die cutter but it’s on my wish list.
Thank for for the amazing opportunity!
Being a Badass quilter means I quilt as much as I like and give them to whomever I choose. I blog about what I make and I never apologize for buying fabric or taking imperfect pictures of my quilted objects. I have never used any kind of die cutter.
Yay! What an amazing celebration!!! Congratulations and thank you for all the work it takes to keep this ship running! As for me, being a BAQ means I can sew and quilt how I want and that’s that. If it looks super traditional or I tie the quilt or I am loving handsewing the binding – I do it because I want to and because it makes me happy, period. I have not used a diecutting machine but one is on my Christmas list because even though I enjoy cutting fabric, having a machine would make it go so much faster!
Being a BAQ means quilting the way I want regardless of what others think. Too many people have forgotten that quilting is an art form and every artist creates in his/her own way. I have used diecutting. What an awesome giveaway! Thank you!!
I’m still a novice at quilting but I have made a quilted tote. I’m afraid of tackling such a big project, area-wise. But that rack of thread makes my heart beat faster…
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means I make my own rules, then toss them out of the window. Anything goes.
I’m using my Accuquilt GO die cutter. Looking forward to learning to use it with the embroidery software for my Baby Lock Ellegante 3.
Being a BadAss Quilter means pushing thru the tedium and making something every day no matter how small.
I am a Bad Ass Quilter because I quilt what I want to quilt and HOW I want to quilt, without explanation to anyone! I love new tools and toys, so the die-cut would be great fun to add to my tool kit, and I won’t have to keep it in the garage with my “other” tools!
It means doing it because it is fun and not worrying about anything else.
I have not used die cuts yet, but will probably try them at some point.
It means being able to break the “rules” and make whatever you feel like! I have never used die-cutting.
I am proud to be a BadAss quilter because quilting has given me an outlet to relax, let go and create! I am so thankful for this new-found LOVE and I look forward to visiting your shop again in the Spring! I hope to be a die-cut user in the near future. I have only made 4 quilts and they were well loved gifts. I can’t wait to make one for myself in 2015. Happy New Year!
Bad ass means never explaining yourself to anyone. I do it because I like it.
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, the sound of sewing machine humming seemed to annoy my grumpy spouse.
The stockings were made, and so were the mug rugs. All bound up and quilted with no stray threads to tug.
The mini quilts had been shipped, though the post office had a long line. Giving me reason to stop at the store for a bottle of wine.
Wearing my Bad Ass Quilters tshirt, and sipping my wine, I settled in front of my sewing machine to ponder what fabrics to combine.
What thread should I use? Oh Aurifil of course! I bought a few at Spool… Ok ok… enough that I could quilt a horse!
I can’t wait to see if Santa brings me some goodies. I know I’ve been a little naughty, but I did leave him bourbon and cookies!
Being the Bad Ass Quilter that I am, I live life to the fullest and sometimes act like a ham.
But quilting is funner the more that you smile. Laughter makes for better stitches when your sewing a while.
Sew on my Bad Ass family, let none slow you down! Keep on being awesome, and the world will keep spinning round!
Being a BAQS is just plain Fun!! I love just being able to say that I am a BAQS is fun!! I do not use die cuts, but would like to try it in the future.
I love to break all rules in quilting and do things my way. It is my quilt to do as I please. I have the Accuquilt GO! and the Silhouette Cameo love them for applique.
I may be wearing the Cone of Shame because I have slept a lot and posted a fair amount to Maddie’s site that I can’t remember if I did this one! I have been an avid follower from her early days, a lot because I loved what she stood for. Being a BadAss Quilter means to me anything goes! I have a mind that likes to flit from one thing to another probably probably making me “Queen of UFO’s”! When I sew I use to be a real perfectionist but now am not as picky even to cutting off points. I love being able to do what I think looks good. Life is too short and I still have lots of fabric to use so I can buy more or maybe I will just buy more! That’s a BadAss Quilter! I finally got to meet Ms. BadAss herself and she is the sweetest and helpful person. I live 2hrs away from The Spool so can’t get their as often as I like. I did go when Alex from Aurifil was speaking. Being on oxygen and in a wheelchair, Maddie welcomed me and I immediately felt at home. Her fabrics are awesome and I am hoping to get back to visit. This has not been a good year for sewing or quilting as battling breast cancer but back on the mend so I know 2015 I will be back to being a busy BadAss Quilter!
Being a Bad-Ass quilter means I can venture off the beaten path of quilting from a book and finding my happiness in a Modern design.
I currently don’t use or have a die cutting machine. I have Rheumtoid Arthritis and will be looking into a die cutter.
Rock that quilt making is called Bad Ass Quilting.
I love to use bold or interesting fabrics, and though I do start with patterns most of the time, I have to change it up in a BadAss way or two as the quilt grows. Have not used a die cutter but only because I have not had the opportunity, would like to try.
I’m a badass quilter because i let people know that quilting is fun and I rebel against anyone who says isn’t that an old fashion craft…ah no its new, great and bold…. but I haven’t as yet tried die- cutting…would love to though
Being a Badass quilter means just quilting in a way that makes me happy, no rules to trip me up 🙂
I’ve used a friend’s die cutter, but haven’t take. The plunge yet myself …
Bad Ass Quilter means doing what I want and how. I have never used a die cutter.
Being a BAQ is a great way to learn to venture outside the “rules” of traditional quilting and explore new and exciting techniques that allow your quilts to rise to the next level. I have not yet used die cuts in my quilting but am anxious to try them out.
Being a BadAss Quilter means quilting how, when and what I want because that’s what makes me feel good – whether that’s modern, traditional, old stuff or new. It means enjoying what I do and letting others enjoy what they do. It means enjoying the past, present and future of quilting and being excited about it all.
Thanks Maddie for putting a little fire in our quilting life – love your enthusiasm. Yes, I use die cutting and embrace it along with the rotary cutter, scissors and an occasional rip.
I have not had the opportunity to use die cuts in my projects, but I have a few projects in mind that it would make much easier.
I love the freedom being a BAQ affords to do whatever strikes my fancy, whether I have a pattern to follow or I’m improvising with my scraps.
I just am! When I make something and show it, it is a piece to view. No I haven’t used any die cutting yet but would love to.
Being a Badass quilter is so about an attitude of freedom! It is about being fearless, being confident, being beautiful, and being a follower of your heart. ❤️
I have never tried any die cutting.
Thanks!
Yes I use die cutting best thing to speed up the adventure. Being a BadAss quilter is great, everything is better with the right attitude. BadAss all the way!!!
I consider myself a BadAss Quilter because I make my own rules…. I make quilts for me, I give them all away… but I grow from the giving. I love the art, the craft of quilting! I will quilt at any hour of the day or night when I can squeeze in a few minutes. I haven’t used dies yet…did you hear that…YET lol
I have not used die cuts in my art, yet. Being a Bad Ass Quilter has let me be unstructured in my quilt making. I used to always only quilt if I had the pattern, now I hardly ever use a pattern. I feel more free in my art. I quilt what I like. In short Bad Ass Quilters have given me a lot of confidence and the security to follow my heart. Thank you.
being a bad ass quilter, I get to do things my way and not follow everyone else! At the time being I am not using die cutters!
What does it meant to me to be a BAQ? Well, it means starting out five years ago trying out quilting for a hobby, finding out that it is AWESOME and that there are lots of other people on-line who think so too, and who don’t believe in Quilt Police and like what I make! 5 years, 800+ blogposts, and having my hand in over 1000 quilts given away by our accidental quilt ministry – now that’s BadAss!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means total freedom. I can think outside the box if I want to. I can take on and accomplish anything I set my mind to. Fabric, needle and thread are my best friends. Would love to use die cutting in my quilting but do not currently own a machine.
