Sure, I think I’m a bad ass quilter, I will have a go at everything out there in quilting and if I can get a score for all the UFO’s I will win. I have not used a cutter or Aurafil threads and would love to. Thanks Wendy
WOW! I am a bad ass quilter and a newbie at the same time! I gathered for years while working, after retirement decided I wanted to quilt. I don’t pay attention to difficulty just jump in and try anything new I can get my hands on. If it doesn’t work I don’t care, creativity is in the eye of the beholder
Bad Ass Quilters – the best in the world at creating and sharing the beauty of an enduring art form. I’m striving to qualify as one. Die cutting isn’t yet in my repertoire, but who knows what my future holds?
I am currently a novice (‘spose that would make me a wannabe BadAss) but I will continue learning and practicing until I deserve the name 🙂 I’ve only made some individual blocks, some paper piecing and one applique. I just received a small used die cutter set and it certainly helped in the making of a quilting inspired theme giveaway mug rug. The cuts were certainly rounder than I could have done myself and the applique was easier to do because of it. I am looking forward to the time I may claim being a BadAss quilter..but first I have to stop pointing out my errors and embracing them as artistic decisions.
I didn’t know there was a society for badass quilters like me. Look forward to seeing what you guys do. I recently was given the Accuquilt die cutter by my husband but haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Hope to do so soon after the new year.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter, is being given permission to do what technique you like to do, and without having to worry about the “quilt police” telling you what you can or can’t do.
I have an AccuQuilt Go Cutter. I used it a lot when I first got it, but it’s been sitting in the corner now for quite a long time.
Being a BadAssQuilter means doing things my way!!
Not so much a bad ass, just a newbie. I still like to do things my way of course. Just as well as no one will notice the squint lines unless they look to close. I do use a die cutting machine.
I am not using die- cutting already in your quilt-life. Being a BadAss Quilter means not following rules when it comes to color or pattern. I love traditional quilts, but am a perfectionist I hate to make them. My favorite quilt so far has been a Texas flag with the shape of Texas as the quilting design.
Being a badass quilter to me means quilting from your own heart and for your own heart and not someone else. It means not worrying about labels and rules. It means growing in your own time and way and space. I don’t use die cutting.
I like to do things my way & be unique!!! I have never liked being the same as everyone else! I have never had a chance to use die cutting equipment ( I don’t have any) but would love to try.
Bad Ass quilting means creating what comes from your heart and using whatever fabrics and techniques you want to express it. I don’t use die cutters.
Being a BAQ means doing what I want how I want. If I want to change the rules, I do. My quilts are made to please my need to create. I can put colors together that may clash, I can use techniques that aren’t in the books, etc. I have an Accuquilt Go Cutter.
why am I a Badass quilter, well if I want some quilting time I know all I have to do is send my husband to the hardware store which gives at least 2 hours of uninterrupted quilting bliss! I have wanted to get a fabric cutting system but the shipping costs almost as much as the cutter.
I think being a bad ass quilter is doing quilting however you want to do it and that makes you happy! Think process
I do not have a die cutting machine but I am intrigued by the possibilities
I have used the Brother Scan n Cut, that’s the closest I have come to die cutting. I guess being a BAQ means following your own rules, not someone elses.
I love the sense of acceptance being a BadAss brings. All around acceptance in quilting — no one aesthetic, style or color family. Acceptance as a person. Quirky is cool. Creativity fueled. Egos checked at the door and so much compassionate sharing of knowledge and support of our craft. Being a BAQ is just all around badass and FUN. I’m so glad you brought all these amazing folks together! I have used die cuts in my quilting to save on precious time. Thanks so much for coordinating this amazing giveaway.
Being a BAQ means I can quilt on my own terms. I can use whatever fabrics I want and quilt it as much as I see fit. Quilting is the one thing in my life I have control of these days.
I think being a badass quilter means that its not only OK to break the “rules”–its practically mandatory! I dont particularly care if all my points are perfect, or if my seams are EXACTLY 1/4 inch–I quilt for the shear joy of it! I do not currently have a cutting system in my arsenal.
Being a BAQ means being true to yourself, even if the “experts” tell you your way won’t work! Haven’t tried die-cutting yet.
I started quilting after I had to go on disability due to MS. It has been such good thery for me. I purchased a GoBaby but do not have many dies yet.
Being a Badass Quilter means I make what makes me happy and keeps me sane, and then I find a good forever home for it (my dogs think that any blanket or pillow type object left within reach is theirs to do with as they please).
I do not have a die cutting system, always wanted one but keep spending all the money on fabric and vintage sewing machines.
I use brown in my quilts! I jam every color and every idea into a single quilt, without leaving negative space for the eye to rest. I make whatever size I feel like, without regard to a specific use. I mix old fabrics with new, and even include some batiks with my prints. I pay for patterns, and then i do it my own way.
I do not have a die cutter, though I’ve thought at times, how convenient it would be!
Pick me! Pick me! Pick Me to win!
being a quilting badass means to me that I kicked leukemia’s butt three times and two transplants later to begin a new journey into quilting! I’ve had to learn to accept my limitations and go at my pace trying not to be jealous of the speedy, productive badasses who get ‘er done! I have not used a die cutter
it means freedom to express my self. Without fear of being judged! I have no die cutting machine ? Love the threads, I could do some serious stitching with that prize
As a BAQ I ignore the quilt police, the voices in my head and anyone else who tries to tell me what to do. 🙂
I have played with die cutting fabric . . . and I have run with scissors.
being a BadAss Quilter to me is not worrying what anyone else thinks, having a go, making up your own rules and enjoying the process and if it works and others want to try it too share the love. No I don’t have a die cutting machine. Thanks looks like a fantastic give away!
I am a bad as quilted because I keep as it even though my family doesn’t get it. I know what’s not to get!
Wow – great prizes!!!! BadAss Quilting to me means having a passion for quilting and trying new quilting techniques.
I have a friend that has a die cutting machine that I have used a couple times.
I love being a baq, it’s wonderful. I have never used die cuts.
Being Bad Ass is doing it MY way and being creative!! So far I can not afford a die cutting machine but I have drooled over them!
As a Badass Quilter, it means “go for the gold” as in go ahead and buy that sit down quilting machine. So I did! Love it!
Being a “Bad Ass Quilter” to me, means carving time out of my chaotic life to quilt and create, to feed my soul. As a wife, mother, friend, employee, it’s so easy to lose track of who I am and what makes me “ME”… Sometimes, a girl has to say to hell with it all and just do what makes her happy. 🙂 (I’ve never tried using die cuts, but not for a lack of desire, just opportunity.)
Being a quilter means the world to me, our Guild motto at our “retreats” are what happens at the retreat stays at the retreat! We sew until the wee hours of the morning wearing our PJs and fuzzy slippers! I don’t think I can express in words the friendships that I have made and how dear they are to my heart!!
Our challenges do really give us a challenge, and whoever has the most fabric when they die wins the Quilty race!!!
I personally do not die cut but I have purchased several kits lately that were created with die cuts.
I love the BAQ Society. I visited Spool for the Wicked challenge and I was very impressed! I quilt for myself and those I am giving my creations. I don’t believe in exact measuring, etc. Whacking is allowed! I have found that I never follow patterns, designs, etc. I make everything my own and love creating with fabric, cottons, wools, Guatemala, from everywhere. My quilts are art quilts but usually measure 70 x 90. I love trying to change the way thinks world thinks of quilts, not my grandmothers! (Even though my grandmothers’s quilts are beautiful). I have never used a die cut machine, but up for learning! Applique is my love so the die cuts would right up my alley.
No die cutter for fabric, but I use one for scrapbooking. Bad ass quilters,no. But I march to the beat of my our drum.
Being a BAQ means getting inspired by other quilters and stealing . . . um . . . borrowing elements of their work in combination, adding a splash of my own creative genius, to make something new, original, and totally badass. Oh, and never making quilt art gifts for anyone who doesn’t appreciate how much work they are, no matter how closely we are related. I have a die cutter and plan to use it in my quilt art, along with Gelli printing, embroidery, paper, and anything else my heart desires. Because there really are no rules or limits, are there?
I am just a beginner hoping to become a BadAssQuilter someday. I currently don’t use a die cutter machine but am told it is the ultimate for precision quilting!
I think I’m a badass quilter because I enjoy making quilts my way, not always the way the pattern states. And I love to use my accuquilt dies for accuracy.
I’ve not used the term, but I do quilt my way. I don’t follow the “rules” and I just quilt because it is fun. I have not used a die cutting machine ( but I would love to win one!).
I became a BadAss Quilter the day the woman who was taking the beginners patchwork and quilting class insisted that there is only one way to quilt…..and she wasn’t prepared to teach anything else. So I went my own way and am happy to let others do theirs!! I don’t have any dies or cutting machines other than a rotary cutter and scissors and I am amazed by the gifts you have to offer. Thank you so much!!
Oops – sorry. Just read the T & C and I’m not eligible as I’m in England. Still stands though, an amazing give away.
I have always been BadAss. I do it my way. One of the first quilts I made years ago used cotton and satin fabric (before if was ok to combine fabrics). I love it. My motto is, “Don’t tell me I can’t.
I do not have a die cutting machine.
i love being a badass quilter. Your site is so informing and gives me good ideas to make things. I have not work with dies because I can’t afford to buy them
I love being a BAQ, it’s help me overcome the techniques I didn’t think I could do.
I do have a Go Baby but have only used it a couple of times for applique pieces.
I would love having a bigger machine to do larger pieces and strips with.
Being a BAQ lets me enjoy sewing challenges to my own tempo. It gives me the freedom to express myself with fabric, paper and now glass work – whether the viewer likes the finished product or not.
Being a BadAss Quilter means, There are no rules when I create a quilt. No worrying about what anyone else may think. Free to enjoy what I love doing most, being creative with fabric 🙂
I don’t use for cut fabric myself, but one of our Project Linus members cuts squares for us with her AccuQuilt. I’m not impressed with the squares, seriously, they are just squares, but other shapes intrigue me. Apple cores are calling to me. Quilts with circles fill my pinterest boards.
Being a badass quilter means forging my own path, taking inspiration from unexpected sources, and learning from everyone, no matter where they are in their quilting journey. I haven’t used a die-cutter yet but I really, really want to!
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means approaching new skills and creative endeavors fearlessly and positively supporting others in their efforts. It means tackling new projects and accepting challenges to grow as a quilter and craftsperson. Being Bad Ass means enjoying the process and the creative journey despite the mistakes and imperfections.
Being Bad Ass means teaching my young sons a love and respect for quilting, sewing, and making with your hands, despite society’s judgements and labels. Furthermore, it includes teaching them tolerance how to be an ally to others.
I have not entered into the world of die cutting; however, I welcome the opportunity to gain a new tool and skill!
I prefer going old school and hand piecing and hand quilting. I do also embrace modern techniques and using the machine for some work. I have used die cutting some and hope to be able to do more after Christmas.
