i don’t know if I really am a BAQ, but I’m willing to try learning anything new. I use mostly Precuts for piecing and have never felt the need for a die cutting machine. I stack and cut multiple pieces at the same time and rarely cut out triangles. I use my printer to scan applique pieces right on to the fusible, making it fast and easy to prep a project. I cut them out while I’m watching tv. I love Aurufil thread and use it for my piecing and quilting. Thanks for an opportunity to win such great prizes.
being a BadAss quilter means freedom. I can try things, make mistakes, redo and end up with something wonderful all on my own terms. I am not using a die cutting system. Thanks for being so encouraging with all of us veterans and newbie quilters.
I am proud to be a BAQ. It has taken a lot of years. It means no more Quilt police. If my seams aren’t perfect and my colors aren’t your favorite keep your opinion to yourself. If my housework doesn’t get done when it should because I’m sewing who cares. If I buy another yard of the perfect blue it’s my money, not yours. I absolutely have to have that new ruler because I gave my old one to someone else. My life is finally perfect just the way I like it. Don’t drive me crazy, I enjoy what I do even if no one other then my quilting BAFS understand me.
Being a bada$$ quilter is seeing that happy face when they see their quilt. I do not currently use die cutting. Me and my rotary cutter have an arrangement lol. Would be so cool to win something for quilting.
Bringing a BAQ means I don’t have to color within the lines…or follow the pattern! I have used die cutting for speed and accuracy when using strips and blocks but I don’t let them inhibit my design opportunities.
being a Bad A** Quilter means I don’t have to follow the rules. I can make my blocks any way I wish with any colors that strike my fancy. Creative juices can flow! I’ve never used a die cutting machine, but am willing to give it a try. Thanks!
What it means to me to be a BadAss Quilter is taking on challenging projects and following through to the completion and being happy with what I have accomplished. I don’t have a die cutting machine. It would be awesome to have one. For now, I trace and cut them out using my scissors. It’s working for now, but it would be awesome to win one. This is a fantastic giveaway! Thank you so much for the chance to win such great items! 🙂
Being a “BadAss” Quilter means I do not have to be satisfied with the status quo in what has been done all along. It is OK for me to venture into new fabrics, new techniques, new patterns and fascinating teachers which bring the new ideas to life. I actually do applique embellishments on my quilts. I find a design, pull out my trusty light box and trace for the most part. I have a go baby so I am limited to what dies fit it. A BadAss does not like being contained and limited. A BadAss Quilter is never held down or limited in anything, we fly to new horizons in the world of Quilting. Together we soar to past each goad we make and reach for another.
Badass quilter: It is my world and I can do whatever I want. Any style, color, shape, or form.
To be a BadAss Quilter means, loving and taking a leap to something new. Exploring the possibilities of all the different techniques and keeping a Happy Face even if it doesn’t go as planned. I would love to use a cutting machine to make those wonderful appliques, just haven’t been able to afford one.
To me, being a BAQ means having no fear in bringing my vision to life, and I definitely do strive to be fearless! Quilting has been wonderful for building my self confidence! I am so proud to say “I am a quilter!” I own a die cutting machine, and I have used it, but not very much.
Being a BadAss Quilter means doing things the way I want to do them but definitely using inspiration from all the other BadAss Quilters!
Unfortunately I have not had the chance to try die cutting yet for fabric. Used to use it for scrapbooking.
Being a bad ass quilter means making quilts that make you happy and proud to show off! I am not using a die cutter.
OMG ~ I just found you and love the energy and attitude here, it is just what I need. Thank you. No, I have never used any die-cutting equipment, but have thought seriously about taking that plunge thinking it would be an aspect of quilting that dear hubby would enjoy to get some retirement team work going.
What a marvelous 8.000 celebration! Congratulations!
Being a BadAss Quilter mean doing things your way and creating awesome works of art.
I have not been using die cuts, yet.
Being a BAQ is great fun as you can be a fearless quilter, always find encouragement and support from other quilters, as well as continually learn. I do enjoy die cutting, having adopted a AccuQuilt GO! early on, but would like a cutting system that allowed me to use a variety of brands of dies, as well as large dies that one can not cut with the GO!

http://www.sewcalgal.blogspot.com
For me it means to do what YOU enjoy and have fun at; and pass the joy along to others if you possibly can……it multiplies !!
BAQ inspires me to be my own quilter and express my work in my own way…. No limits!!! No Di cuts…. Yet!
I do not have a die cutting systems, but often thought it would be handy for applique. I imagine, hanging head, I am a BadAss Quilter because as my son tells everyone, she has more fabric then she will ever use….to which I say, and the problem is????? I am just banking fabric for my retirement account – and I love being able to open the doors and be able to pick fabric to make a quilt, or add to fabric I bought. Merry Christmas to all!
I just found this! and I think I match up with the rest of the creative people here as I got published in quilters newsletter magazine, so I guess I am a “basassquilter” too and no I am still hand cutting everything!
Being a Bad-Ass quilter has to do with accepting all quilters for what they do and how they do it. It is also about doing things the way they make sense to you, even if that means breaking the “rules of the Quilt Police.”
I have an AccuQuilt Go and have used it, but not for awhile. I find it does a good job for the lighter weight fabrics, but it is not good for flannel. I tried the rag quilt die and it was just faster to do it the old way and cut the fabric after the quilt is put together.
I’m a badass quilter because I do many different types of quilts, traditional pieced, appliqué, Crazy quilting, art quilts, you name it. I love it all! No rules!
I have not tried a die cutter yet.
It means that I make my quilts and don’t make excuses for not following someone else’s rules (or time frame). It looks like my girls and I are going to have a binding party to finish the quilts that they are getting for Christmas! I don’t use dies or a die-cut system. I just don’t have one, but I would be happy to jump on the band wagon.
Wow, wonderful prizes. Congrats on the 8000. Here’s hoping for many more. i have just recently purchased a GO cutter and am slowly accumulating a variety of dies… Thanks so much
I don’t follow patterns to the “T”…I change a little here and a little there…then I quilt as desired….The pattern is a “seed” that blossoms into a quilt of my very own.
A “BAQ” is able to begin with a design and finish a quilt to my ideas not anyone elses. No UFO’s or getting bored with a project that was planned by someone to sell a specific brand of fabric. I do not use Accuquilt -no money for new toys right now.
Walking your own path baby!
No die cutting.
what makes me a BadAss Quilter is my willingness to do things a new way – mix old and new. I’m not using die cutting because I don’t have a machine.
Taking a sweet traditional pattern and tossing anskull into it!
I have a Go system, and have never used it!!
As a BadAss Quilter I sew what I want, when I want and how I want. I don’t listen to the quilt police and make things that make me feel good. I do not have a die cutter but would try one if I had one and share it with my friends.
To be a badass quilter you must first be a badass yourself…which that I am lol! Working with what you have even if you dont have alot…making a gift from the heart. I always tend to be a creative badass and everything always comes together in the end and it always works itself out! THANKS FOR THE CHANCE♡♡♡♡♡♥♥♥♥
i am really excited to find you. I just ordered “Graffiti Quilting” by Karlee Porter. I am getting a new “used” Longarm machine on the 28th and this is going to be my first resource book! Yahoo!
To me, being a BAQ is using all the tools available to create unique quilts… and I love tools. I have rulers, and rotary cutters, and thread, and machines…. and yes, I have an Accquilt Go with a stack of dies. I love using the dies to create quilts. My favorite is the Hunter’s Star die. It cuts the fabric in such a way that you can chain piece a Hunter’s Star. I think it is badass!
Being a BadAss quilter to me is doing what you love. No rules, using your imagination and the joy in giving the final product to family and friends.
I do not use die cuts currently but have been curious to try.
Love the creativity of quilting!
I don’t use cut outs in my quilting at this time.
I consider myself a Bad Ass quilter because I like to go against the grain. I never follow a pattern exactly. I always find a way to make changes and add my own personal touches to the design. I’m always trying to think outside the box. I do not have a die cutter, but wish I did. It would make life so much simpler.
Hi All: Congrats on the 8000 milestone and the invite to your party. For me being a Bad Ass Quilter means a) buying every piece of fabric & thread that tickles my fancy b). Having all my housework and meal planning done early, early in the morning c) secluding myself in my sewing room, where I can put the petal to the metal and enjoy pretending that I am the best sewing queen (meaning that every piece of fabric is perfectly sized, no wonky stitches, no machinery malfunctions with needles and bobbins in amazing harmony, and project completion by dinner time. Oh yea…
Doing your own thing and being proud of what you do! (!@*)& the quilt police!
Forgot to say I do not use die cuts as I do not have a machine. Great prizes!!
For me, it means doing what I like to do the way I want to do it. I don’t go by what the rules are or what is expected of me. Doing things my way makes me happy and that is what matters. I haven’t used any dies in my quilt yet because I don’t have a machine, but I am certainly not opposed to using one if I had it. Thank you so much for the awesome giveaway.
Being a BadAss Quilter means the the ability to be creative while making others happy with the gifts I’m able to give.
I don’t have a due cutter yet, I find them a bit overwhelming on where to start.
I’m still new to this, but to me it means not being afraid to try new things. A die cutter is one of those new things that I’d like to try, as I’ve never had the opportunity to use one before.
I’m new to your blog, I do think I might just be a BAQ, thanks to the way I do things!
Being a BadAss quilter means to me that I write my own rules, decide on what is right for me and listen to my heart when I make something quilty. I make what I LOVE, not what someone else thinks is right. I lasted two months at the local quilt guide because I made a table runner they said they “needed to put their sunglasses on” to look at. Pullezze! I am lucky to have a husband who loves my quilting, and bought me a Accuquilt Go! for Christmas two years ago.
What an awesome prize! Thanks for the chance to win!! jacklynnsteven at netzero dot com
I’m a BadAss quilter because I don’t listen to anyone and quilt to the beat of MY OWN DRUM.
Modern quilts with jewel colors and black/white/metallic. Very few prints, cause that’s how I roll. I embroider a LOT of designs on my quilts and I’m a sucker for Asian fabric and designs…
EVERYONE should be a BadAss Quilter !!!
BAQ means doing your own thing! No rules ..Measure twice… cut once! Dare to be different, it’s amazing what you will discover. I have not done any die cutting but would love to try it!
I am a Bad Ass Quilter because I kick ass when sewing – similar to a middle age man on his Harley . . . I currently do not use a die cutter. While I understand it would save me some time – as an accountant I’m not seeing the ROI.
WOW! What a fantastic giveaway! Being a BadAss Quilter means following my own style and enjoying every minute!
I have an electronic cutter and have been disappointed in it’s ability to give a nice smooth cut edge. I probably haven’t practiced enough and gotten the settings down right yet. I would love to get a die cutter though as I understand they cut fabulously! I just can’t create my own shapes on a whim.
Thank you so much for all you share!
Let’s see – being a BAQ means I can use die-cuts (sometime I do) or not – using a pattern as is, or modifying it, buying a quilt kit and then modifying it to make it more interesting, colourful or unique.
To be a BAQ to me means you do what pleases you when it pleases you. You mix textures, traditional with modern, intricate with simplistic. You go against whet you thought were the “rules” cause in reality there are no quilt police. Do want makes your heart sing!
I do use a die cutting system but it’s not Sizzix.
Being a BAQ means that I follow my idea of what goes with what. Love trying out different color schemes and sewing/quilting what I want and when. I don’t use die cuts….yet…but one day,one day(sigh).
