Being a BadAss Quilter means making what I want for people I love, with no care to putting a (style) label on it. I have never used die cuts.
Being a Bad Ass means just getting it done. Thinking outside of the box and stitching outside of the box or however I please. I follow my own rules and don’t get caught up in “doing it the right way”. I do it my way!. I’ve never used a die cutter for quilting… would love to try it.
Being a BadAss Quilter means that no matter how the quilt comes out it is always right because it is a BadAss Quilt.
I do what I want.
I’m a gypsy, a bohemian, though I was in the military for 11 years, I am NOT a conformist and I looooove to make things.
Quilting is my therapy. And I do it my way.
But I’m kind and never mean. I love making people feel good, baby animals, cheese and bacon.
I am a badass quilter who loves making modern quilts for my kiddos and family and friends but I also love old style quilts! My mom and I plan on finishing a dahlia quilt my Grandma never finished before she passed and then my Grandpa wanted to finish it but he also got sick not to long after(heart broken) and didn’t finish it. So our goal is to finish it for them 🙂 I have never used die cutters but would love to try them!! I have always wanted them. It may make it a little easier and less time consuming so you can really enjoy the sewing part 🙂
BadAss quilting means doing what you want how you want to do it. No rules, just make something!! No die cutting yet. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
For me, being a BAQ means being myself and being afraid that I’ll somehow do something that will offend the quilting gods (aka the quilt police!). Be true to yourself – that’s Bad Ass!
Being a bad ass quilter means I love to sew all day long. My husband doesn’t get fed and the house doesn’t get cleaned. I can go a week and never leave the house. My wardrobe consists of pajamas because I prefer to sew all day in my pajamas. And I do not have a doohickey that cuts shapes but would love to have one.
My wife Brenda is the Badass Quilter, so I am entering for her.
Being a BadAss Quilter means you are not afraid to try new patterns, techniques, or ugly fabric in order to turn out something made with love , to give to a friend or family member and to always look for a new project! crystalbluern at onlineok dot com
I’m a badass quilter because I love to quilt and my favorite thing is make baby quilts, this gives me a chance to create a one of kind for each child that I’m sewing for.
I have a small die cutter, but I don’t use it much, I prefer to cut my own fabric, but I do cut scraps, and one day I will make a scrap quilt.
Quilting is the thread( sorry) that holds two of my groups together, and at one time or other we are all badass! I use die cut fabrics when I have a chance, the clock is ticking.
Being a BadAss quilter means if I don’t like the block I just did I can either throw it away or give it away. I can also give away fabric I decide I no longer like. Have never used die cutting in my projects, looks fun but have never justified the cost.
Being a bad ass quilter to me means doing things old style for the most part but not being hesitant to break a few rules along the way where the need calls for it. I don’t use die cutting to cut fabric but do use it to make patterns for applique and even hexies. It’s a pretty useful tool.
Oh No! Not the Cone Of Shame! Nothing’s worse than the Cone Of Shame! Except maybe getting a huge rat’s nest of thread in several places on your quilt before you notice it, and then having to spend several long, tedious hours picking out the mess that only took 5 minutes to make! What were we talking about? Oh yeah. Badass quilting and die-cutters. I am badass in that I almost never use patterns. I make it up as I go. I went on a Nerd Cruise, and decided to make a signature quilt with all the folks on the Cruise. Then I decided I needed to use everyone’s handprints and have them sign it. But real handprints were too large, and a bitch to cut out. So I used my own handprint, reduced it, and exported to my Cricut, and proceeded to cut out 300 hands from some fabric I had hand-dyed. Got them all signed too! Then I made a background, and figured out how to arrange them in a circle, grouped by color. Got them all pinned down and ready to go, and THEN figured out I wasn’t going to be able to applique them down like I wanted on that huge background. Had to figure out a way to cut the background into pieces to be reassembled later, so that I could maneuver each piece through my sewing machine for the applique part. I’m still working on that damned quilt. Hmmm…that doesn’t sound so badass now that I write it out. HEEEEELLLLLPPPP!
Just found you all through a friend and love all the sharing of ideas! I have not used discounts….yet!
Being a BAQ I love to learn new techniques and play with so many fabrics and threads with such luscious colors. It kinda means departing from the ‘norm’ too and making something original! Thanks for a great giveaway!
To me, being a BAQ means I can do things my way, without giving a rats @ss what others will think. That did take a while! I can also appreciate all quilts I see, even though it may not be to my taste. I recognize the work, time and effort put into creating that quilt, and I say, you go quilter! As for the cutting system, no, I don’t have one, but yes, I would love one! Cutting is my very least favourite part of the process. I’d probably get a hell of a lot more done (should actually be cutting out a baby quilt right now, needs to be done in 3 days, but…!)!
Love your quilting philosophy Maddie, it helped me a lot, thanks for all you do, you BadAss you!!
I’m a BadAss Quilter because I am seriously into the senior citizen category, and I love to try new things in my quilting studio.
BAQ means doing what I want, when I want, with any fabric or design that feels right to me. Wish I had a die-cutter, but “wish in one hand”, as they say.
I’m fairly new to quilting and recently started my first quilt without a pattern. I think I’m starting to be a BadAss Quilter but I have a lot to learn. I have never used a die cutter.
BadAss quilting is all about creativity, follow your own path, color intuition and design sense. No quilting police here! I have not yet had the opportunity to use die-cutting yet, but someday I will!
Being a BAD means not letting fear or what others will think keep you from trying new and different things.
i love being a badass quilter because of the love and comraderie found here. I donot use die cuts yet.
Bad ass means doing your own thing… What makes you happy ( and is legal :). )
I haven’t used die cuts yet but see that in my future;)
I’m a badass, so that makes me a bad ass quilter by default. I do things my way, even if they fail. I’m concerned with what makes me happy – who has time for pleasing the naysayers?
I’ve never used die cutting in my quilting because quite honestly, I could buy a helluva lot of fabric with the money I’d spend on a cutting system and dies. (Even though I’m sure the die cutters are Bad Ass!)
it’s all about being comfortable in my skin and true to myself. it’s being a strong woman, but still a gentle, loving wife and mom. it means being proud of my hobby even when others say it’s for “old ladies”. it’s stitching with a drink while listening to the grateful dead. it’s a bit of everything that makes me happy to be me!
and no, i’ve never tried die-cutting.
Being a BAQ mean NOT staying inside the lines!!!! I follow MY rules. Have only bought die cuts…never done it myself.
I love being a BadAss Quilter because I don’t have to follow the norm… I can do what I want when I want and have fun with not playing by the rules, plus the results are awesome… oh my what would my Nan and Mom say if they saw me now…
I use die cuts all the time…
Wow. How can I be a Bad Ass Quilter? Or maybe I am already. I make my own templates. I WANT the Aurifil! And where are you so I can visit?
I am a badass quilter because I follow my own heart in my quilting… I take chances, explore techniques which are new to me, and dream REALLY BIG (much bigger than I have the time to follow)! I do some die-cutting (not much though – mostly for applique). Awesome giveaway – thanks!
Badass quilter means trying the new things that come out. I don’t use die cutter yet. But would like to.
Congratulations on your 8k! Being a BAQ means following my heart and my passion, whether or not it fits into anyone else’s “box”.
I quilt because I have to quilt! I love the color and texture and challenge. Everything but the binding – I can’t say I “love” that, but I don’t mind it.
Being a BAQ I love to learn new techniques and play with so many fabrics and threads with such luscious colors. I do have a diecut machine that I use occasionally when arthritis in my hand flares up making rotary cutting difficult.
Being a badass quilter means breaking the Quilt Police rules if I want to (or not) to make beautiful quilts and having the confidence and courage to go my own way with my quilting while still loving the time I get to spend with myquilty friends. Encourage, teach and learn from each other. Support our quilty dreams no matter what they are. Never say no to an idea and always challenge ourselves to do something new or better. I’ve used a die cutter, fun and would use it again.
Badass to me means having an attitude. I do what I do to please me. It took me a long time to come to that realization, though. When someone asks me to make something for them, all I want is a color nudge…and then they’d better walk away/shush their mouths. I’m at my most content badassedness when the project has a gazillion pieces! I haven’t used die cuts – yet.
What w fantastic giveaway,,,sorry I just now found it.
I’m a bad as quilter I use dies to cut out flowers or other shapes. I like taking patterns and change them around a little to make different quilts.
I try to ignore the quilt police…if there is an error or things don’t go together just how I imagined, my response is “Good enough for who it’s for”…usually iy’s for myself! Or, “I’ll never see this again”. I have never used a die cutter, I would LOVE to win!
Being a bad-ass quilter means I can do it my way in my own time. I love quilting for others–as long as I initiate the gift. I have never used a die cut machine, but I bet it would make it possible for me to do even more. Thank you for such a great give-away chance.
Well, maybe not so much BadAss, but BigAss??? Not so much in my own vocabulary, but definitely a hard nose quilter. It’s my chill space. Haven’t tried the die cutters yet, but have been checking them out to see how to improve my cutting. Thanks for the amazing giveaway and congrats on your 8000 celebration!
I am a Badass quilter because…. I use the fabric/thread colors I enjoy working with. I don’t have a die cutting machine, it has been on my wish list for quite sometime now. I use the old tried and true handwork methods. Thank you for the great giveaway.
Being a BAQ means the freedom to do my “thing” in any manner I choose no matter what the quilt police might advocate. I use a die-cutter for lots of pieces, like applique and unusual shapes. What a great giveaway. I use lots of Aurifil in my quilts.
as a badass quilter, I spend ALL my spare time quilting. Forget cooking, cleaning house—anything that interferes with my quilting!
I never considered myself a bad ass quilter until I thought what it means for me. I finally quit comparing myself to other quilters. I make what pleases me, I do the best that I know how and continue to learn. I have recently begun using die cuts in my quilting and like it better than I thought I would.
Quilting with Love not perfection- makes me a bad ass quilter 🙂
Haven’t tried die cut but find it very intriguing
Thanks for hosting such a bad ass contest with bad ass prizes!
Cheers!!
Being a bad ass quilter means not being ashamed of my fabric stash! It lets me pull projects together when I need something quick. I’ve not tried a die cutter yet, but am interested.
I am not “bad” enough to even say Bad *** Quilter, but also am not “good” enough to be a rule follower. I delight in whimsy and creativity. And I have not used a die cutter–yet! Winning would make me very, very happy! I would even share my prizes like a good girl should. maybe.
I love the name Bad Ass. Appeals to the rebel in me. I like that rules don’t have to apply.
