And share this post to increase the fun!!!

I think I’m a BAQ because I follow my own rules. I mix & match different patterns & fabrics to my own liking. I haven’t been quilting for very long so I don’t use dies, but I am always willing to try new things. Thank you for the chance!!
Being a BAQ means being creative! No I’ve haven’t used die cuts…..yet
It is so nice to be among a group that celebrates who you are and what you love to do. I have been embarrassed by many a quilt guild member for having my own quilting voice.
I own a Studio Cutter and would love some aurifil thread. It is hard to find where I live.
I don’t know if you could call me bad ass, because I just starting quilting. I have already decided to do what I want to do and if it works great, but if it doesn’t I will have learned something.
Being a BadAss Quilter means…I say what…I say how much…
No die cut experience.
For me, being a badass quilter means no rules! I quilt what I like, how I like it. I may follow a pattern, but never feel obligated to. I do not have a diecut machine, so for now I use my trusty rotary cutter and ruler. Who has time for that? Thanks for all the inspiration!
BAQs don’t need no stinking stitch regulator. We make every stitch its own unique length and are proud of it! Well, mostly. I have not used die cuts but I aspire to use them. Tks for the fun!
Being a BAQ (and self taught) means I don’t know the “right” way to do something. I don’t have to follow the rules (until I really mess something up! Which, actually, isn’t often)
Being a BAQ means taking a perfectly good whole piece of fabric, cutting into tiny bits, sewing it back together and making it more fabulous and better than before. (Calling Dr. Frankenstein!)
I have used die-cuts. I love the perfect shapes they deliver!
Badass is just that. Bad ass. It’s a mindset to embrace and run with. It’s the best way to celebrate my own creative flow. Watching the desig b come out of my head onto fabric is just that, badass. I Love being a badass! Haven’t ever tried a die cut machine yet. But would love to when I start to pump out some of these designs in my head. Someday….
Being the Baddass quilter that I am, I have many projects going at once and don’t know when I’ll finish any of them!
I think being a BasAss Quilter means following your own path and not being restricted by rules and tradition. Follow your muse and make things that please you! I have not used a diecutter.
Being a amateur quilter im not perfect nobody can tell me any different ,so is my boss so shes teaching how to use the die cutter.Im a slow learner but im at least nobody does the work for me.
a BadAss quilter to me is someone who uses all their skills to create an item for someone to love. It may not be perfect or a typical block/pattern but that makes it even better. I have used dies to cut fabrics and they are a very useful tool for accuracy. Love Aurifil threads too.
i just can’t get enough quilting! I love doing all types & learning new tequniques. Guess that makes me a bad ass quilter. I am just getting into a die cutter. Looking forward to using one.
Being a BAQ means doing it your own way and never making excuses! I have not used a diecutter, but it might be helpful with “Uncle Arther” visiting more and more these days.
This is so cool! Glad I’ve found you (via FB) because I can already see how inspirational this page will be 🙂 I’m a beginner level quilter, and have recently been investigating crazy quilts since I love embroidery…I’ve never tried diecutting in relation to quilting. Sounds fascinating — what potential!
BAQ rock!!!! I love Aurifil threads as well!!! I am totally drooling over the box of threads that are in this give away.
I like to think that I can do what ever my heart tells me looks good and enjoy the final project! No die cutting in my life at this time…but who knows what the future holds. Way to go on your 8000 FB friends!
I use the accu cut system to help make my bad-ass quilts. Making some bad ass ones as we speak to wrap two people up with love as they endure chemo.
Being a Bad Ass Quilter means doing what works for me even though it may not be the “right” way.
No I have not used die cutting in my quilting.
I love BAQing because we support each other! It’s all about supporting our quilting sisters in their chosen style. I do own a accuquilt that I love.
to me, BAQ, means no quilt police, not even myself! That I get to create how I want and feel great about it! Thanks for the give away and I have never used or tried the die cut system in my quilting. Would love to give it a try.
I admit I am not a quilter (badd ass or not). My grandmother was a quilter and I have the tops and quilts that have been loved forever. I think that some day I want to quilt I have the stash of scraps to prove it. I would loooove love love to win the prizes that might be the stepping stone I need to approach quilting. Thanks and congrats on your 8000!!!!
to me, BAQ, means no quilt police, not even myself! That I get to create how I want and feel great about it! it is nice to know I am not alone on this thinking. Thanks so much for the give away. I do not have a die cutting system and have never tried using this method on my quilts, but would love to give it a whirl when I win!
Badass quilting means I quilt to make me happy and don’t worry about the quilt police or judges. I occasionally use die cuts, more fun to trace and wing it with free form.
Being a BadAss quilter means enjoying quilting and unafraid of trying Anything to make our next creation(quilt, whatever). I don’t own a die cutting machine, but would love the chance to use one!
Love BAQS. The name says it all! Am a huge fan of Aurifil threads and am lusting for that BIG FABULOUS box.
To me being a BadAss Quilter means being true to yourself, your vision, and your art. It doesn’t matter if your style is ‘traditional’ or ‘contemporary’ or ‘modern’. It doesn’t matter if you follow a pattern using a prepackaged kit or if you march to your own beat and think outside of patterns and kits. It means that you respect the contributions of people who create differently than you and you aim to lift the community not police it into submission. It means the only true rule you follow is that you create! I am not currently die-cutting in my quilting, it is something I am very interested in and am currently saving up to buy a machine and dies. Congratulations on 8,000 BadAss followers and cheers to many more years of BadAssery in quilting!!
being a BAQ means being creative and making things the way I like them to be. I currently do not use a cutting system.
Being a BAQ means doing what you think is needed for the person you are quilting for. You have the vision of what you want for them, and in the case of my family they don’t always see my vision, until it is completed. You know what you want to give, so go for it.
I didn’t even know I was a Badass Quilter until I found your site but the name fits me to a tee! I am incapable of making a pattern as designed, using fabric lines without additions and making my quilts my way. And it always works…well almost always! I am not die cutting yet but it’s on my to do list for 2015! Thanks for creating this wonderful space for our collective growth.
I am a BAQ because I just decided that I like that name. I enjoy mixing up techniques and playing with old and new ideas. I do not use any die cuts at this time. This page has some awesome links and new ideas. I look forward to checking them all out and – pickme! Pickme! Pickme! – would love to win, something, anything! Thanks for the fun!
The older I get the more BadAss I feel, and I think my new mantra is ‘Attitude IS Everything’. Love it. I love being a bad-ass quilter. Love my ribbon and look at it every day. It reminds me I AM good at what I love to do…I do it with as much style as I can and isn’t that what matters anyway ladies and gents!?
I have two old rotary cutters so having a Sizzix Big Shot would give me a whole NEW attitude and make me feel like a bigger BadAss than EVER! LOL Happy BadAss quilting everyone! – Julie
To me being a Bad Ass Quilter ( loving that name btw), means you don’t feel that you have to follow the expected or normal way of doing things. You change a pattern to make it your own, you come up with your own, you use unexpected color and patterns. But when you finish, you have one kick ass piece to be proud of! I love to do applique, embroidered applique specifically. So I have a go cutter and a cameo (which I have not mastered). Would beyond love to try the Sizzix and lust over the Aurifil. You guys obviously know how to have fun and not be too serious! Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, and good luck to all the folks who enter!
Love the BadAss Quilters and the sassy attitude. Would love any of the prizes!
Being a badass quilter means never having to say “oops” or “but” or “let me explain.” I do things the way I want, as long as nobody gets hurt in the process. 🙂 I have never used a diecutter but am eager to try.
BAQ, that’s me. I am hopelessly addicted to quilting. Sometimes I follow a pattern and sometimes I add my own twist. Applique is one of my favorite techniques. But, Having to cut all those hundreds of pieces one at a time gets tiresome. I really do need to get one of tj I see die cutters. That would make me even more of a Bad Ass Quilter. LOL
I love inspiration from many sources but do what I want. I have an accuquilt go but don’t use it as much as I thought I would
For me, being a part of the Bad Ass Quilter Society is an affirmation that what I have been doing is ok and the quilt police can suck it! I have a die cutter that I use sporadically.
no die cuts for me , but I think I’m a badass quilter when I make quilts for friends , I’ve made 2 shark quilts from Casey York pattern for my grandsons
I ignore the quilt police! I quilt for myself, but then give most away to others. I’m always trying to learn something new and trying to use up my stash! Ha ha, isn’t that hilarious! It never seems to go down. I’d love to try a die cutter. Sounds like fun.
I think being a BadAss Quilter means doing something you love and honing that skill! I don’t use a die-cutter…but I keep thinking I need to!
I’m a BAQ because I am always learning new things about quilting and sewing from the awesome online quilting community!
“My quilt, my rules” that is my motto. I was a badass quilter before I knew what a bad ass quilter was. I was making quilts and doing it ” wrong” from the get go, oh well, my quilt! my rules! right? As for die cuts I have not used them yet, but want to try, the price of the equipment has slowed me down thus far.
A BAQ enjoys all ways of quilting & appreciates the freedom to do whatever we feel inspired to do. And try not to make disparaging remarks about Sunbonnet Sue;). Thanks
being a BAQ means expressing myself however i want when i quilt/craft/sew. quilting is my creative outlet, not theirs! No die cuts yet, but i’m starting to think they are a good idea as I’m not the most precise cutter.
It means a helluva lot to be a Badass Quilter. It means that all of our collective badasses can be as badass as we wanna be and there is someone, a lot of someones actually, out there that “get” us. We aren’t alone in our badassery. No die-cutting machines have harmed in the making of my quilts. I’m still a rotary cutting ruler kind of girl but I can be wooed over to the die-side. Oh yes, you can woo me! I want to be wooed, I welcome being wooed!
Being a bad ass quilter means spending time in my awesome room doing what I love, creating things, feeling the fabric, choosing the right colors to go together and expressing myself through my art. I do not use die cuts and I want to win really really bad!
and PS i don’t do die cutting….not yet anyway…LOL
Being a bad ass quilter means bringing me back to sewing after 20 years away. Falling in love all over again with the process of creating, and stretching my skills by trying to continually learn. Die cuts.. I don’t have a machine but I sure can see where one would be an amazing tool to have.
A die cutting machine is on my Christmas list…..whatever husband can afford! I’m old in years but Bad Ass young at heart. In 2000, for the turn of the century, I got myself hooked on quilting and it’s been my passion ever since. Said husband helped me create a super sewing studio in a guest bedroom and it’s the happiest place in the world. Quilting and sewing means I am NEVER bored, and my large family keeps me busy with requests that I love to fulfill.
Everyone should be so content!
