When it comes to quilting most of us are sewing with cotton fabric but at times we might be sewing with something odd and it is good to know how to treat that fabric for best results.
Today the industry uses their own form of communication on the matter and I like to call it Laundry Hieroglyphics. Thus interesting, but sometimes hard to decipher. You can use these symbols to understand about the care needs of your threads and any embellishments you might add to your quilt.
My first shot at the list up top went something like this – Have a cup of tea, climb a mountain, sew on a square button, take a ride in the bumper car and then play some pool. I had no idea how this was going to help me wash my fabric but it did sound like fun!
Turns out it was something way different and not really as much fun but at least now when I do want to climb a mountain and ride some bumper cars I will have well taken care of clothes and quilts to do it in!
Textile Affairs has put together really nice printable guide to washing symbols that deserves a place in any laundry or sewing room. Go get yours now and thank me later 🙂
