Nearly two years ago I would have looked at you sideways if you have told me that today I would have an organization with  6000+ members who support the right to express themselves in an authentic way in both their life and their art and they were not going to take shit from anyone because of it. I would have indeed rolled my eyes but wow.. I could not be more pleased and excited!

BAQSmotto

The continued growth of BAQS has been amazing, each time I think we might peak we make another jump blowing by goals making them look like no more than speck in the rear-view mirror – talking about exciting!

With growth comes growing pains and we have had a lot of those with my personal resources being stretched very thin between  SPOOL and BAQS.

Each day we field multiple  requests and project offers, some of which we pass on  and some we embrace with vigor such as our work with Swatch Buddies!

Active growth means adding new faces to the BAQS family and I could not be more excited to announce that Flaun Cline will be joining the BAQS family in a big way!  I met Flaun online through the quilting world and have long wanted to collaborate with her on a project so when this opportunity came about she was my very first choice  and I am jumping up and down in excitement that she said YES!  Soon she will be here in Chattanooga TN with her fantastic kid and her sweet cat and we will be folding her into our BAQS clan and  putting her to work!

Flaun will  be taking an active role  in many of the BadAss Enterprise projects as well as working and teaching at SPOOL ( and other shops)  along with her other very exciting quilty adventures.

When asked, she said :

I’m very excited to begin work with the BAQS, where all quilting styles are embraced. This attitude of inclusion and encouragement can only serve to increase the joy we all feel for our art. Teaching this craft has been a passion of mine for quite a while, so I look forward to new classes that will soon be starting at Spool. I hope to see you there!

I’m currently working on a book proposal with my friend Sam Hunter of Hunter’s Design Studio, pattern design, and finishing up two commission pieces. I have a small collection of flimsies that I would love to find time to quilt up, much like everyone else in the quilting world, I’m sure!

My style is constantly evolving, but my latest work is really pushing my boundaries. I’m quite proud of it and can’t wait to finish it up!
