Do you have a quilt in you that you are ready to create and show to the world? If so this is news you will want to hear.
It is with great excitement that I announce the first BadAss Quilters  quilt exhibition has been planned for September 2014 as part of the  American Quilters Society quilt show in Chattanooga Tennessee!  Yes it is true, a juried exhibition of the best quilts from some of the most amazing and diverse  quilters on the planet will be assembled and shown in the American Quilt Show display hall during the  Sept 10th – 13th quilt show and I am beyond thrilled! { Can you see me happy dancing??}
This exhibition is open submission for BAQS members and we welcome all types of quilts. So bring us your  hand, machine, art, primitive, modern and everything in the middle quilts. We want everyone to submit!  From there 30-50 quilts of BAQS members will be selected by the people at AQS  for display. ( Having someone else do the choosing seemed best since then I can be excited for all of you!)
Details
The American Quilters Society quilt show is September 10-13, 2014  ( next year) in Chattanooga Tennessee and I want you all to come!  Sadly I don’t have room to put you all up so I will be posting a  list some of the hotels in Downtown Chattanooga with a bit about each. Make sure to book early for best shot at a room close to the event.
The minimum size quilt for this exhibition is 60×60 inches but  bigger is OK as well.
Submissions via computer entry will open on June 1st of 2014 and close on July 8th.
Quilts will be reviewed and selected  mid July and letters of acceptance will go out  no later than July 25th
Accepted quilts will then need to be mailed to arrive  the week of August 25 but NOT earlier.
You will need to pay to mail  your quilt to the exhibition but AQS has been so kind as to be paying for the return shipment fee for those who are selected to show their work in this flag-ship event.
And a little bit more
So for those with big dreams this gives you about 1 year to make something amazing and for those who are undecided this will give you a bit of time to pull together your game plan for this fantastic event.
While this is NOT a contest, each quilt that hangs will be sent home with a very special BAQS Â participant ribbon and be featured on the BAQS webpage along with some extra special swag for those quilt makers who are able to make it in town for the show.
And I cannot fail to mention that there is going to be a BAQS party of epic proportions as well as some other  very special events which are still in the works!
This is going to be an amazing exhibit folks, Â and the best part is that is celebrates you. Â Each and every last one of you who make BadAss Quilters Society a supportive and accepting environment for all quilters.
Of course we will have more details over time, ( as well as some possible date tweaking) but now is the time to mark the dates on your calendar and start to think about what you want to create  with this exhibition in mind.

Can’t Wait!
This is big!! Wonder if I can get a quilt done in time? Will wait for further details. The BAQS ribbon is a real incentive!
Yay!! Sounds like big fun!
So exciting…now venue for AQS, new adventure for BASQ, anticipation thinking of a quilt to make! DELIGHTFUL!!! Opps! Oh, How do I join BASQ?
I’m thrilled! Now I have something to work toward! Keep me posted and I’ll start creating away!
Thank you so much!

I’m hoping “The World Moves On A Woman’s Hips” will be admitted. As soon as applications are available, mine will be on the way.
oooooo, I’m thinking road trip with Mandy Applebee….What an awesome opportunity! Marking it now…glad that it is after all the kids return back to school, keep this in mind if you decide to change the date…What fun it would be to meet you in person!
This is almost TOO exciting! How am I (who already has insomnia) supposed to go to sleep tonight??!!!!?!?!?
My first thought was one of my favorite art quilts, but no, it is nowhere NEAR 60″ X 60″. So, I MUST continue on with MY quilt that is still in partially pieced blocks on the sewing table right now. I think that will an appropriate size. WOOoooOOoOOOooOOOHOOOOOOOOooooOOO!!!
Far out! That is seriously exciting!
Holy thread spools! Fantabulous idea!!!!!!!!
Wow, that is so cool. Unfortunately there is no way I’d be able to make the show in person all the way from New Zealand – But a quilt might! Will have to put my thinking cap on.
I’ve never been bold enough to think one of my quilts was good enough to enter in any contest, but I might just give this a try. Barring unforeseen catastrophic acts of God, I will be there, with bells clanging and whistles blowing! Now, what shall I make . . .
OMG! beyong excited. My mind is already plannnnnning! Thanks for doing all this for those of us who love a challenge.
How cool!!! I am thinking already what I want to do!!! I really want to do this!!!! Can’t wait for more info!! Now I won’t be able to sleep…. designing in my head!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I won’t be able to come the first year, but I am looking forward to what your comments are on the hotels. I will have a bus group of ladies coming from Florida on their way to Paducah in 2014 stopping in Chattanooga…any other heads up for quilting must sees or possible events would be extremely helpful for me planning trips. I also have a group in Iowa and one in PA that might be interested in 2015….
How EXCITING is this?? I hope to be there with bells on! Can’t wait to see SPOOL!
🙂 You go, girl!
Like you Maddie I am so excited that they are coming here and now even more excited……I am doing the happy dance with ya’…
This is Bonnie Browning from AQS. We have negotiated some really great hotel rates for those coming to AQS QuiltWeek in Chattanooga in 2014… so sit tight and wait for our hotel list which will be available soon. Can’t wait to see what awesome quilts you all submit…

I am sooooo excited!
Stupendous!!! Amazing!!! Way to go Maddie!!! Hope I can come up with something BAQS worthy!!
Congrats! This is big! definitively a must to do… Thanks, Maddie!
I too am interested in this show, but I am confused by this statement “This exhibition is open submission for BAQS members and we welcome all types of quilts.” There is nothing on your website that I can find that says how to become a BAQS member. Do you mean only those who have been featured on your website? Please explain and elaborate as I’m sure I”m not the only one interested in this opportunity. Thank you!
How can I become à member of BAQA ?
Yes, I will be happy to try and be part of your special BAQS exhibit. Sounds like a fun and fabulous idea. thanks for organizing.
Coolio!! My aunt and uncle live nearby!
Looking forward to more information. How new/old do the quilts need to be?
MY SON LIVES IN TULLA HOMA…..I CAN COMMUTE!! I THINK IT IS LESS THAN 1 HOUR…..OF COURSE IT IS 7 HOURS TO SEE HIM….LOL
OMG this is awesome! I will start sketching tomorrow! Talk about some seriously bad ass stuff going on! 🙂
Awesome news Maddie! I’m going to have to plan something extra Badass !!!
Just have to say…..totally badass!!!!
I will start thinking about mine now would love to enter and send my quilt to you.
I am lovin’ me some Bad Ass Quilters, and especially you Maddie for coming up with it. You are amazing. Thanks
This is going to be AWESOME Maddie!!!! I’m so pumped!!!
This is entirely astounding!! You have dreamed big and it is filling the sky!! I’m working on a quilt that would be so cool but it’s too small so i just will have to try for another quilt. WooHoo! Good on ya, Maddie!
See Maddie??? I TOLD you that AQS had the show there because of you and BAQS! This is really exciting, hmmm, wonder if I can find something to drag out! LOL!
Sounds like fun! I’ve been wanting to try and make something “show worthy” and this is just the thing to get me moving in that direction!
Minimum or maximum is 60×60? This is very cool!
The MINIMUM size for accepted quilts is 60×60 inches.
